  1. JR might like it. TA and Donaldson fighting on the field as teammates would make Tony look like he was in control.
  2. Think of all the BS we've been told. They had their spokesman, Nightengale, tweet out last year they were looking at players like Semien and Ray. The Sox get Vasquez and Big Energy. This offseason they might trim payroll 8 figures? Sorry they aren't even trying.
  3. I didn't have a problem with the salary. The term was ridiculous for an over 30 bench player. What was funny is once Tony was out of the picture everyone figured out he shouldn't be playing. Hahn made the exact same mistake with Keppinger. If it was on Tony, if Joe Kelly was on Tony, if Vince Vasquez was on Tony, JR should give that money blown back to Hahn to use. If it was on Hahn, he should get a new GM
  4. It's certainly not how teams in their supposed window, saying the goal is multiple championships usually operate. Hopefully it's some sort of smokescreen, because lowering the payroll and failing again will doom them. As shitty as this team was in so many ways, 2 million still showed up. They can't do the usual and blame the fans for not buying their shitty product.
  5. The problem I have is his power is waning, and for a guy with such a plate discipline reputation .317 is a pretty low career OBP. Maybe the shift helps him, but it seems curious Minnesota would trade a guy they would possibly think can reach what they thought a few years ago and trade him to perhaps their biggest rivals while trying to compete. And they know him better than anyone.
  6. Mediocre player. Peeked in 2019. White Sox seem attracted to players who have peeked, and we are back to the 2009-2017 model of hoping to get numbers out of guys that are probably not possible. Kepler isn’t projected to hit, so I’m sure the White Sox history of mediocre coaching will solve that. Mediocre, players, mediocre coaches, mediocre front office. Max Kepler is a move that would show why they Sox are usually mired in mediocrity.
  7. Holy Adam Eaton.giving up anything but garbage for Kepler would be horrible.
  8. Just looking at the photos, he looks about the same as he did in a Cardinals uniform. If anything, he looks slightly leaner.
  9. Not anything to do with this subject, but the highest OPS since 1947, 75 years, minimum 1000 PA, vs, LHP, is the Big Hurt. Saw it on MLBN.
  10. Pocket change to upgrade 2 roster spots for teams legitimately trying to win multiple championships.
  11. I would sell high on Seby. He's not a regular, and his defense to me is average at best. If he was hitting. 175 next June with a .525 OPS, I wouldn't be surprised. Get a guy who throws well , blocks balls in the dirt, and calls a good game.
  12. If $10 million for a 2.5 WAR 2B, the way this front office had handled the position is too much, the White Sox are the Pirates. Cleveland has better pitching, but there is no way the Sox shouldn't win the division if their front office is just competent_
  13. I think trading Sheets makes sense. Colas , who knows if he's ready but moving up in 2022 didn't hurt his numbers. Eloy should be the primary DH. Vaughn at 1B. Get Colas some time in RF, get another OF . Conforto probably wants a Rodon type 2 year with the opt out. Get another starter. Maybe a defensive minded back up catcher, and suddenly the team looks really good again .
  14. He also had knee and calf injuries last year. And he's only owed 1 season. I've been watching a lot of MLBN lately and one of the themes recently is there is no such thing as a bad 1 year contract. Now, if you would have to give up something fairly valuable for the guy, I see why someone would say no. But if they need to cut some payroll and would take a lottery ticket, unless there is a better option out there, it makes too much sense. And with Tony gone, making too much sense shouldn't be a reason why it doesn't happen.
  15. This is where JR has to step up. Yes the payroll is high enough to contend, but he has a bunch of guys who need a reset. He can't realistically think they can knock 8 figures off the payroll and still upgrade the team. $10 million for 2.5 WAR in a trouble position should be child's play.
  16. Wong has put up 2.5 fWAR each of the last 2 seasons and is projected for the same in 2023.Dependig on the price of prospects, I don't know how much better you can do than that at 2B and only a 1 year commitment . Who else can they realistically obtain that would fit into the budget and not drain them of at least one of their better prospects?
  17. In free agency, Elgton Jenkins would be my choice. Getsy knows him well, and he played really well at LT last year before he got hurt. Very versatile. Who knows if he is ultimately available, but he’d be nice.
  18. One thing is for sure, the Sox aren't going to rebuild again in JRs lifetime. I do think there probably is too much negativity right now. The Sox couldn't have been any worse and until they got bear at home by Cleveland in September and fell apart, they were still right there. No LaRussa and a few things go right, they win the division. But they have to make some good decisions and not operate scared like they almost always do.
  19. Dylan Cease was having trouble striking people out a couple of years ago. Stuff can be great but if you're throwing too many non competes, you wind up in a lot of trouble. That said, this guy would seem to have a ways to go to be a piece in a major league bullpen.
  20. I suspect the 2023 ball will be juiced a little more than 2022.
  21. If the White Sox are truly trying for sustained success, Gio and Lynn are off the books after 2023. Might be time to seriously consider reinforcements.
  22. Big Tribune expose on this years ago. If JR can’t do it, his co executor, most likely his son Michael takes over. He is the only owner with power, and that transfers to his heirs if he is incapacitated or dead. My dad is an attorney and he told me all this 40 years ago. Basically every other owner of the White Sox has no power, and never will. JR even has to approve if they want to sell their shares.
  23. Just watched Sean Casey on MLBN talking about Bellinger, and he is probably the most positive guy on the network. He also had shoulder surgery and said when he saw Bellinger after his surgery swing, he said oh no. Says lthe shoulder surgery slowed his bay speed and has done the same with Bellinger. Dan ODowd said he hoped he could get back closer to what he was but said you have to have low expectations. A change of scenery is probably good, because he probably will never be the same.
