Thought we traded for Domingo German and we were cornering the market on domestic abusers. *   *I should add alleged. My pal rabbit gets mad when you don't assume the woman is lying.

  • Rick Hahn has owned the off season. I misunderstood before. This had to be one the interesting trade ideas he was sharing with teams in San Diego.

Print the playoff tickets now!!

.....but, decent enough move, considering Boston had to move him in the next 2-3 days no matter what.

25 year old, 4 big league innings last year, ERA of 18, 2.58 ERA in AAA for most of last year. No starts only a reliever.

Seems like an upgrade, basically at the cost of a spot on the 40 man.

This completes the McGuire/Diekman trade.

Wait, it doesn’t?

German should also have options available so that's really bloody important.

Looks like he could end up being a good bullpen piece

Boston must be pretty high on Theo, as this seems like a pretty useful piece on the surface.  it helps fill the pen, that is for sure.

Straight up, I don't get this for Boston. This looks on paper like a much better deal for the White Sox. Reliever for reliever, except the guy Boston is giving up is younger, was at AAA last year, and was quite a bit more effective. Guy clearly has options remaining, and no obvious reason to think Boston needs a 40 man spot in the next day. This looks like a small but obvious win for the White Sox. Why would Boston do this?

When's the press conference?.

Boston DFA'ed him a couple days ago, so they needed to trade him. Not sure why they DFA'ed him, but the only explanation is that they need the 40-man spot for some reason.

All right, so this is originally from them signing Duvall. They signed Duvall and had to DFA Matt Barnes for the roster spot. They traded Matt Barnes to Florida for Richard Bleier and again still needed a roster spot from that deal so they DFAd German. I found a version of a Boston Herald article asking why German was the guy they DFAd and all it said was they thought he would be most easy to trade for a useful return, which seems like an odd reason to DFA someone.

I am the low man on Bilous so May not be much of a cost here. Still, I would prefer them trying to get anyone they thought could start.

Yeah, I noticed he didn't start any games last year at any level. We still need SP depth.

Looks like a good move to me. He was highly regarded in the Boston minor leagues. A young pitcher with upside and certainly appears the Chisox are trying to strengthen the pen with Liam out

Denlinger is a blacksmith. Maybe they just needed some forged metal? The baseball bat axe thing is pretty sweet tbh

I am very shocked that Hahn acquired another reliever.

Maybe there was a gentleman’s agreement with that Diekman trade that they’d hook the sox up later for dumping Diekman on us? Trade doesn’t appear to make much sense on its own

This feels like a very good depth move. Now if they can just find something similar on the SP front, they at least can pencil in something.
