  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Vintage Garland 05, Hawk Maybe he meant 04
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 28, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) Way too many fly balls this inning. He was fortunate in the first that Wells ball was a couple feet foul.
  3. I think the Sox are going to need a few more runs.
  4. IIRC it was Ozzie himself who said he didn't care what Anderson hit, that he needed to catch the ball. Anderson has done that. The timing of this story is strange. I'm starting to think this Anderson to AAA talk is mostly so the Sox won't be short when he has to serve his suspension, and the league is saying that appeals should be heard and considered by the middle of next week which would mean the Sox, if Anderson didn't drop his appeal, would be short handed against Detroit. If he dropped it they would be short handed against Cleveland.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 28, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) While a swap of Tejada and Matos/Patterson for Uribe/BA/minor leaguers would be enticing, I am going to have to say that this will be just a fantasy for us, nothing more. Trading Tejada for a package of Uribe, Anderson and minor leaguers would be suicide for Angelos. If he's available, its going to take a huge package to get him, including starting pitching off the major league roster.
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) How many position players were even ready for the show? Lopez was hitting like .100+ in AAA and Ozzie saw him in spring training when he was raking. Ozzie liked what he saw and send him up. What does he do? He gets 2 hits and drove in a run. Don't ever bring up Ozzie and Dusty's managerial tastics in the same discussion... EVER!!! As far as I'm concerned, there is nobody on the Charlotte Knights I want to see in a White Sox uniform this season.
  7. Doesn't anyone think its strange that Anderson is now on the hot seat after his manager is pissed off after a game where part of the reason for the loss was the defensive play of his replacement.
  8. Bringing in another gas can from Charlotte, and having Mackowiak misplay balls in CF would be defeating the purpose IMO. If they replace Anderson with a pitcher and leave the rest of the roster the same, the OF defense will be weak.
  9. Nelson is not a guy who will be able to go multiple innings. He's a guy especially right now when he has pitched a total of about 5 innings since his release in spring training, who is only going to be able to get 1 or 2 guys. Maybe 1 inning. But don't send him out there after he gets out of an inning.
  10. The team won 5 out of 6 on the homestand. Should have been all 6, but they haven't been firing on all cylinders. This is a tough stretch of games. Losing 2 out of 3 at TB is unacceptable. I like Ozzie popping off. I also think Ozzie should look in the mirror and give himself some grief for his decisions today. They were not good.
  11. KW is not going to trade for crap to play CF. That would rule out Pierre, Erstad and Finley. If the Sox do get another CF, its going to be a great one. That is unlikely to be available, so KW needs to fix other spots, specifically the bullpen, and the bench is too left handed. There is no reason Ross Gload should be on the roster. Its a wasted spot.
  12. Hopefully Garland won't be, like the song says, "serving them up like John McEnroe." I think this is a very bad match-up for Jon.
  13. Dick Allen replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wonder if KW could get Carl Crawford. I think he could play CF. It would cost a ton, but would be worth it. I actually don't think the Sox need another CF, but a guy on the bench who hits right handed would be nice, and some bullpen help.
  14. Dick Allen replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Erstad had 1 great year, is injury-prone, and KW already traded for him once. Garland for Erstad a few years ago, which was agreed to only to be vetoed by Angel ownership later.
  15. If Nelson was highly thought of at this point, he never would have been broadcasting with Seattle when KW ran into him and eventually signed him. He did his job and got out of the inning before. He's going to give up runs if he faces more than a couple of hitters, look at his recent ERAs. He's not bad for the last guy on the staff or to face a tough RH batter. Asking him to come back and pitch after getting out of an inning is too much for him, especially now when he hadn't pitched since spring training and only pitched 4 or 5 innings in Charlotte. Ozzie obviously chose to take a chance with the loss in order to save the bullpen.
  16. Another Blue Jay knocked silly at second against the Sox. I love AJ.
  17. This does not look good.
  18. The Sox have played a pathetic game today except for the pitchers.
  19. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 27, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) thought Schoenweis thought he was too talented to pitch outta the pen Reality kicked his ass.
  20. My wife is trying to take our dog out, but he won't go, he's watching the game.
  21. Pod's average is in freefall since he got it to .300
  22. If a guy is going to give that pathetic of an attempt at a bunt twice, they should have made him try again. I bet the effort would have been a little better.
  23. 2 pathetic attempts by Uribe
  24. Hawk should mention how brutal the Sox have been with SAC.
  25. Get a good lead and go Brian.
