Chicago @ Boston - ALDS Game 3
This is a big inning for Freddy. If he mows them down, the Sox may be able to put up a big crooked number next inning and the Red Sox and their fans can start thinking about next year.

Chicago @ Boston - ALDS Game 3
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Is it too early to start counting? 18 more outs. If you must count, please don't mention the number between 6 and 4. I'm sure there is lots of bad karma for White Sox fans with that number.

Hold on a Sec, this aint done yet
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Honestly people. If you were a sports agent, wouldnt you take a hardline to make sure he got the DNA test, at least to make sure that he was going to be ok in life? Its like being in sales and making sure your product is functional. I dont get his stance on doing whatever Eddy wants him to do, have some damn principle in life, s*** Especially when it is a potential life or death situation. If he didn't want to share the results with the teams that's one thing, but to support his decision not take the test is irresponsible. And Curry's parents leave me scratching my head also. Looks like they just want money also. If it were me, my parents wouldn't let me play without the test, and I'm older than Curry.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Well, to take that position they have to rescind the qualifying offer, right? And wouldn't Curry then become an UFA? I can't see them doing that, either. Why not? Who is going to sign him if he has a major heart issue and can't pass a physical? What would the Bulls gain by paying him $5.4 million to not play and then having him become an UFA after the season? I'm not arguing with you BTW, maybe you have some more insight on the subject. I personally think if he can't pass the Knicks' physical, if its because of his heart, there is a very good chance he is done playing.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) I thought there was the possibility that he could just sign the qualifying offer for one year, and the DNA test was a prereq for a long-term deal only. No? The Bulls aren't going to let him get on the court without the test. I really doubt they will give him $5 million just to hang out at home, especially after the bad feelings Paxson had about the whole situation. f*** Curry, let him sue his agent, yet another scumbag more concerned about cash than the person.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Pardon my lack of knowledge about the situation, but why does he need a DNA test? I'm not a doctor but if my take on it is correct, it would show if he has a genetic disposition to a fatal heart condition. If the test showed he did, he wouldn't be able to play anymore. I think Paxson said the Bulls offered Curry $400,000 a year for 50 years if he took the test and failed. I would suppose if he comes back to the Bulls that offer would have to come off the table.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) wow. This is big news. He will have to suck it up and earn his big contract this year. I have defended Curry in the past. After all this contract non-sense (and the great offer he received from pax.) I have to admit, I dont want Eddy on the bulls this up coming year. If he failed the Knicks physical you can take it to the bank he isn't going to be playing for the Bulls this season without the DNA test. He could be done.

Ticket Master and the ALCS
QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Forget the payday I would have just liked to see Game 1 of the ALCS. I have used brokers before and ended up paying $800.00 total for 2 Paul McCartney tickets about 3 years ago. The broker had told me there were 4 available so I talked to the people sitting next to me (the other 2 tickets) and they had said they had gotten theirs from a friend for face value (obviously the ticket broker). One of my best friends was a part-time ticket broker. He gave me no inside info, as far as how they beat the system or get all their good seats, but always had a couple of freebies for the big events for me. Unfortunately he moved to California a few years ago.

Ticket Master and the ALCS
QUOTE(JimH @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Curious ... Do you have the numbers of people who: - Are White Sox fans - Were able to buy tickets yesterday - And then turned around and sold them to a broker? You're assuming all those tickets in broker inventory were bought first hand by brokers. That's the other part of this. A lot of people are pissed they didn't get tickets, not because they can't go to a game, but because they are missing out on a payday.

Ticket Master and the ALCS
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Just a suggestion for a way to solve this issue: Make tickets to special events like this the same as airline tickets. That is to say, the ticket itself is associated with the individual purchaser. You need two things to get in: ticket and ID. This keeps brokers out of the business entirely. If you wanted to allow for transfer of the tickets, make them go to the ballpark, wait in line at the ticket window, and pay a fee to transfer. That way you can still have someone transfer a ticket at the last minute if they want to, but you prevent any markup occurring outside of the small fee. This would make life tough for brokers, but reasonable for people who really intend to use the ticket or give to someone else at face value. Not ideal, I admit. There are flaws. But food for thought. Selling tickets far above face value is legal for licensed ticket brokers. While your suggestion makes great sense, there are 2 problems. One, the licensed brokers would make a legal challenge, and would probably win. The second problem is if they were checking ID with the tickets, it would take hours to get into the park. The fact is ticketmaster is in kahoots with the brokers and most likely get some sort of kick back from them. Its no coincidence brokers have hundreds of seats to games you can't get a ticket to even if you were one of the first into ticketmaster. They could easily make their system an even playing field, but they choose not to.

Ticket Master and the ALCS
There's nothing Brooks Boyer could do about the crappy system ticketmaster uses except perhaps moving to get the Sox off ticketmaster, but then you are going to have the same problems at other sites. Scalpers have inside people everywhere they need them, and know all the tricks. I just find it funny that you are on ticketmaster and they say your wait is less than 1 minute, on the same screen it says don't refresh or hit the back button or you will lose your place in line, and then 32 minutes later it says you have a 15 minute or more wait. Someone is screwing with the system. Considering how quickly tickets sell out on the internet, unless you are very close to the front of the line at the box office, you aren't going to get anything there either, that's why I agree with the decision not to sell them there. It would lead to a lot of people sleeping out only to get shut out.

Famous White Sox Fans
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) thats bulls***. Whitesox.com just interviewd him a month ago and he said he is a die hard sox fan. He told Arroyo infact that if the Sox played the Red Sox he would be all the way for the Sox. He is friends with the Arroyo though. In fact when he sung the the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley this year he said "root root root for the White Sox." No he didn't sing root, root root for the White Sox. The guy is a fake. He's a fan of whatever team gives him a freebie or some free publicity, and who cares anyway? He's a crappy actor who will be nothing once that dumb show leaves the airwaves in a couple years.

Ticketmaster blows. How does it go from an approximate wait time of 3 minutes to 15 or more 30 minutes later? How do you lose you place in line if its not being f***ed with?

How'd u celebrate when Gooch went yard?
I must say my friend who I share season tickets with and I have got to be close to a honorary membership to the Ms. Cleo society. Before Tuesday's game as I was walking to meet my buddy to go to the game, my brother who lives in Europe called me, giddy that he would be able to see the game live. He asked my what I thought, and I told him Clement sucks, the Sox will rip him apart. On the way to the game as we were stuck in traffic my buddy announced Pods would hit his first homer of the season. During the first inning when AJ tried to bunt and it went foul, the guy sitting next to me said how much he loved the attempted bunt. I told him it was bad, Clement was throwing up some meatballs, AJ could take him into the left centerfield seats. Next pitch, you know what happens. During the 5th inning last night we all were talking how that 3rd run was huge, and when Pods popped up there was a resignation that the run probably wouldn't score, but then we tried positive energy with Iguchi saying stuff like he gets nothing but big hits and Wells would be lucky to keep him in the park. Of course when he hit it we just went crazy.
