  1. Worth the gamble, but I don't think he will ever live up to his billing. He was awful in AAA as well as the majors.
  2. In a playoff series, who knows? Bucky Dent and Brian Doyle have been postseason legends. In 2000, Frank Thomas and Paul Konerko were 0 fer. But, IMO, you are right, there is no way the team should settle for Leury when there are a lot of other options available.
  3. Yes, it’s to save a little cash, maybe even do the player a little solid and get him in a playoff race, and hope a lotto ticket produces something. Sometimes they do, most of the time they do not. Bagwell and Smoltz a couple of the better ones.
  4. It also was Kenny Williams playing CF who was pretty excited about it.
  5. I think Tony said Engel was a bit banged up, and wasn’t going to play back to back.
  6. I told you when he was hired Tony doesn’t GAF about OF defense, at least to start a game. He actually had Ron Kittle in CF once.
  7. You want a government handout? But as to your question, I think it's coming as soon as the check from Mexico for the wall clears.
  8. Yes, eventually these teams will see that not paying some these guys to play meaningless games the rest of the year is actually a decent deal.
  9. I think desperation has taken hold of the organ I zation.
  10. Yes, but if Kimbrel helped the Sox win it all, and they didn't get a package back with some elite talent, their fanbase , even though they don't care about the White Sox, would never forgive them.
  11. Also Bruce says the Sox are one of the teams interested in Kimbrel. Unless their offer is far superior, there is no way that will happen.
  12. There is zero chance JR takes Hosmer's money.
  13. Caulfield is so much better when he is not a Royals fan. I fear a Hosmer trade back to KC. He will probably break out a KC hat again. I'm sure he was wearing it around China back in the halcyon days.
  14. I figured Ron should be happy since Yermin and Sheets are studs, LaRussa is the greatest manager maybe who ever lived, and Abreu is a pox on the organization that obviously doesn't have enough to acquire a rental reliever.
  15. No. They are screwed. Hahn should back up the truck, get rid of that overrated Abreu and rebuild around a couple of studs, Yermin and Sheets. With LaRussa at the helm, it shouldn't take long.
  16. Why does Leury sit vs. LHP? He is historically a better hitter right handed.
  17. You never really know what you can get if you are willing to take on money. But lets be real, they sometimes talk a big game about near miss blow you away trades, but they never happen, and this will be no different. I am with you. Escobar helps with power, and a reliable reliever or 2 would really help. Get the injured guys back, and the team is stacked.
  18. I would really doubt the Sox are in on Marte. If they are actually looking for another OF, which I find hard to believe, it's got to be a big bat LH hitter who they just can't say no to. Other than that, they are going to use their capital on relief and 2B, and maybe a catcher.
  19. Exactly. Any Sox fan paying attention to the deadline could have tweeted the same thing. The other dead giveaway the guy is fake is his insistence of trying to say Jeff Passan has verified him.
  20. He's getting older. He's not a star, and KC wants a return like he is a star.
  21. Vaughn can play 3B in a pinch for a couple of innings. But the team does need another infielder soon, so they pretty much have told you one is coming.
  22. Optioning Burger was the correct move. The guy needs to play.
  23. They probably, like most minimum wage paying jobs, have a shortage of workers, and the ones they have are probably rookies , without much idea what they are doing.
