  1. It is amazing how many people seem to love Lucroy, but most front offices continue to release him. And that is kind of weird as well, as this guy is only 5 years removed from being a top of the line guy. It really is one of the more interesting end of careers I have seen. It's not like he has to be that guy he was 5 years ago to stick, especially if he can call a good game. Maybe he is an asshole or something. But something is going on.
  2. Maybe the HR are just moving toward the mean. Plus get a couple of guys back, and a 2B, it's hard to imagine the Sox being out talented.
  3. This guy's WAR is only slightly higher than Jose Ramirez'. What a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for Yoan Moncada. I can't believe the Sox traded Chris Sale for him and that hack Kopech, who Donaldson just teed off of last night. Robbed.
  4. He is older so his next contract won't be too huge. He could take over the Leury role, assuming Leury moves on, which gets him pretty regular playing time. He loved playing for the White Sox previously, and wept when he was traded for Liriano. Either way, his price isn't going to be a high one to bring him in, even if he walks after the season. It's a no brainer, unless they can bring in someone better than isn't going to ravage the systtem.
  5. Here’s a scary thought. The J&J vaccine is supposedly ineffective vs. the Delta variant. The White Sox all got the J&J vaccine.
  6. They will. The price is going to come down, so with a big lead there is not reason to panic now. I bet if they were 1 or 2 games up or 1 or 2 games down right now, they probably would have made a move , or at least you would be hearing things daily. It’s almost like they are waiting for the auction to end instead of paying the buy it now price on eBay. I think there is a near zero chance they go into the playoffs with Leury or Mendick their second baseman unless the guy they acquire gets hurt.
  7. Partisan politics has trumped( pun intended, although it was heading this way long before him, he just took it to the finish line) common sense. And a vaccine to protect people during a pandemic is controversial. Good thing they haven't come up with a cure for cancer yet. People might be pissed off they can't just get chemo and die. But this is even worse. You only kill yourself with that. Covid, you can wipe out several.
  8. What I don't understand is the selective outrage. Why aren't people outraged they have to wear a seat belt driving their own car? Why are they not outraged people next to them in a crowded bar cannot smoke? Why are they outraged you are expected to wear pants in public? It's a serious question. What is the line? Is it where you favorite politicians or media figures want to draw it?
  9. It's great. Old school German. Probably over 100 years old.
  10. There is also a shuttle bus on Wisconsin Ave. i believe that goes to the park. I used to be able to priceline rooms at the Hilton for $40 a night. Between going to see the Sox vs Brewers, and Summerfest, good times.
  11. Yes. I think Monday at the earliest. Makes no sense to throw him out there now with an off day and no DH coming up. Let him get some more ABs and he'll be good to go.
  12. Whatever the price is for Escobar, it isn't going to be much.
  13. Baseball isn't like other sports where the better team wins 95% of the time, and it's been said on here, and really, if it isn't necessarily true , it should be true, even going to games when the Sox are bad should be enjoyable. But when they are good, it's so much better.
  14. Sheets picked up Leury. That. Would have been a DP.
  15. Leury isn't a bad bench player, but he is baseball stupid.
  16. I don't believe it until Not Cishek reports it.
  17. Most likely defensively over Collins, doubt it over Zavala. But again, he is being released for some reason, and if he provides a nicely called game and plus defense, you wonder why he can't stick somewhere. Something is up there.
  18. My point being, there must be something wrong there. He actually has hit OK in his brief time, but this is at least the 3rd team that has got rid of him this year.
  19. How average can Lucroy be? Nobody wants him.
  20. Yes. Not many teams lose 4 staring players for an extended period and not pay the price. That said, the Sox just have a problem with Houston right now. A win today and tomorrow may calm the nerves a bit.
  21. price tags come down when teams don't want to pay, and they realize no one will meet their demands. I do agree with you about the potential moves, Escobar and a reliever for a couple of middling minor leaguers.
  22. He needed innings, plus didn't he have some sort of eye procedure that knocked him out a few weeks? He probably can't be worse than Foster for the most part, and is coming off his best effort.
