The Cubs got out of it fairly cheaply, but it shows you signing guys to trade for prospects in a couple of months rarely pays off. The way Pederson was paid, the Cubs only paid him a couple million, but couldn't you get a prospect like Ball for that amount or much less? The Braves are going for it. The Cubs are folding. They are only a half game apart record-wise. This is definitely a sign the Cubs are going to finally dump some guys because they wouldn't have made this trade if they were still going to give it a shot. The way they handled what many thought was going to be a multiple championship dynasty should be studied. I know people say trading for Chapman was well worth it, but they could have got someone who got saves and not traded Gleybar. They shouldn't have traded Eloy or Cease either. They didn't want to trade any of their core, and they all get so expensive together even the Cubs can't pay it. I think it means with this and next wave of guys with the Sox, they may trade their vets for prospects and let the younger guys get sprinkled in, all while adding younger talent to keep the winning happening. There is no reason they shouldn't own the AL Central always.

Just like Casey Gillespie. The guy is 23 or 24 1B struggling in A Ball.

Bummer activated, ReyLo called up; Fry, Foster to Charlotte
Dick Allen replied to maloney.adam's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Fry looked good until they try to extend him. Foster has sucked all year, but seemed a little better lately. -
His numbers were pretty consistent his first 4 years, and given his age, and one time prospect ranking, you would think he had the ability to improve. Something really messed him up. Maybe it was the Covid he said he didn't have. He is younger than Collins and only a year older than Sheets, but if he can't play in Detroit, he may be toast.

You could have moved.

That's another move of a fake insider. They knew the real moves all along, but their source wanted to make sure they didn't share it, and people fall for it. Some trades are OK to give all the info, some, don't say a word. OK.

The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread

I hope the kid does well. He has a ton of talent. At some point he will figure it out. -
I have mentioned this before, the problem with the fast food guys, and for all I know they may be the same person, they had some inside info. But just a little, and they tried to a pro. It was clear when he was just making things up.

OK. My sources tell me the Sox are going to trade for Escobar or Story or Frazier. They get 1, I am 33% and officially an insider.

Up until this point, there are on vendors at the park. Upper Level has a better view of the game, and probably much shorter lines at the concession stands. I went with a friend a month or so ago to an afternoon game and we had bleachers and brews tickets. They were $25 and you get 2 Buds with it. There was a group of 7 next to us. 4 adults, 3 kids. they had a dedicated stand for Brews and Bleachers ticketholders. There was no line. We would get back instantly. The other group would be gone innings at a time. They asked us how we got beers so fast, we told them. They paid $28 a piece for their seats. They could have saved $21 and had 14 beer credits doing it the other way.

ReyLo skipped at AAA: Spot start? Hug watch? stayed tuned

He has been throwing 94-96 recently. Missed some time with eye surgery. Obviously needs more than a fastball. -

Jake Arrietta was awful until he wasn’t now is again. Dylan Bundy was awful until he wasn’t, and has also returned to awful. But taking a shot on guys like Lopez is what teams dumping salaries do. -

I don’t know what his velocity has been, but a team salary dumping may want to take a look. He is talented when healthy. -

NFL 2021 offseason thread

I am not sure if it is a state thing but here is the blurb. Records state he was denied bail, but a spokesman for the Redmond (Washington) Police Department told ESPN that is standard procedure for suspects of domestic violence until they can appear before a judge. Sherman's hearing before a judge will not take place until Thursday afternoon. it will be interesting to see where this heads. Probably will get dismissed. He is pretty high up in the Union. -

The domesic charge. I read it in one of the articles. I originally thought the same thing you did. -

It's standard for the charge, until he sees a judge. -
Wassn't the risk for hospitializaion, ICU admission and death lowest among those with BMIs under 25 before we ever heard of Covid 19? The fact is, you can still die from it or cause someone else to die from it.
-
I'm not. But if your data is accurate, 80% of the hospitalized are overweight. But 70% of the people at the grocery store you walk into are overweight. So as much as you want to make being overweight the #1 factor, it really doesn't tell you that much. The talking point is it doesn't affect kids. There are 7 kids in Mississippi in intensive care.
-
BTW, almost 70% of all American adults are overweight.
-
I knew 3 people who died of Covid. Not one was overweight. Although I do have some sort of issue with the vaccines. My wife still is struggling, 3 months after getting her first shot. No one knows what to do. They keep passing her along, and have her take more tests. So they either have no clue how to fight a probable bad vax reaction or are too afraid to report it.

ESPN first half grades: Sox get a B+

But that is what they are supposed to do, and are doing it with a very depleted roster. He is full of shit. -

The Sox better not win the WS. Schoenfield would have to change his B+ to a B or B-. -
ESPN first half grades: Sox get a B+
Dick Allen replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
how does a team with the White Sox injuries and an 8 game lead get a B+? This guy is a hack. He predicted the Sox as a Wild Card team before the season started. As for the White Sox, many are picking them to still win the division, even without Eloy Jimenez, and I still like the top of the lineup, the top three in the rotation, the bullpen depth and believe the AL East beats up on each other, allowing the two wild cards to come from the softer West and Central divisions. -- David Schoenfield -
With the hindsight, who should the Sox have acquired for Sale? This will be one of the better trades the team ever made, but you have no clue.
