  1. He seemed to me to be as advertised offensively. Not as fast as was thought. He certainly isn’t Billy Hamilton running the bases, but he isn’t Paul Konerko either. I read where he is in the top quarter in baseball. Did struggle some defensively initially, but was doing much better at the time he was hurt. I think he is going to be a nice player for as long as his body will let him. He is a young guy, and his game was definitely on the rise, just like we expect from all of the Sox younger guys. I never understood the hatred. The Soxtalk scouts had Mendick as a capable replacement.
  2. It was the only way Seby might make contact, so it made perfect sense, and as soon as the runner got to 3rd, Seby was benched. I think it is the first time I have ever seen a pinch hitter in the middle of an AB without a pitching change or injury.
  3. Greg Kembral. This guy is awesome.
  4. It would have been nice had he checked on Jose before Pushing Pair ez away. And I do love the fake outrage where he is holding on to Cairo for dear life, knowing that there is a decent chance he gets his ass kicked if he got into anything real, but as a Sox fan who has always wondered why this guy is managing the team, this isn’t really embarrassing. I do wonder about his logic. This clearly was unintentional and no one felt worse about it than the pitcher, yet he almost cheers when Yermin was intentionally thrown at earlier, using it wasn’t at the head as partial reason not to care. Well, intentionally trying to hit someone has a better shot of being a beanball than just trying to throw inside, and other body parts can be injured by getting hit by a sphere coming at you 97 MPH. Just thankfully Jose is OK.
  5. Yes. It's certain. They will trade one of them.
  6. Works both ways. I am sure when the Sox traded Q to the Cubs someone on MLBN called the Cubs big winners. The Sox have to win at least one or two playoff series for to bean actual win IMO.
  7. It would depend on what else was available and what the cost was. Kimbrel is great. Could the Cubs have still won with a closer that didn’t cost so much? Probably. But it would have come down to who was available. No question this helps the Sox this year, but there are several baseball executives quoted, who get paid to evaluate talent and not sing insurance jingles, who claim the Cubs killed it with this trade.
  8. Everyone does, but the money doesn’t work.
  9. If Steve was correct, no one would ever make a bad trade, yet somehow, everyone does. The Sox are going to wish they had Madrigal down the road, but for this season the back of the bullpen couldn’t be more stacked. Hopefully the injured guys come back and this team can catch the ball well enough and score enough runs to wins some playoff series.
  10. There is no way Kimbrel and Hendriks are both on the roster next year.
  11. So does this mean since the Cubs allegedly had their choice between Madrigal and Crochet, that Crochet is garbage? Just remember, these are the same guys who traded Tatis JR. and Semien. Stone isn’t ever going to blast the White Sox on a trade. He likes his job.
  12. It’s like an all star game.
  13. A little TT.
  14. Trade him for the 222-22-22 guys.
  15. They should have another trade deadline at the Winter Meetings, this is too much fun. That, and waive any type of compensation on Free agents who sign before the Winter Meetings.
  16. I thought about not cischek when the board was broken once this trade was announced. No one reads these boards anymore.
  17. He actually started to regain his form the last month of last season. I remember Kaplan saying the Sox should trade for him before they signed Hendriks. He said it would cost almost nothing in prospects and the Cubs might eat some cash.
  18. Chances are he won't be on the White Sox next year. I don't like the trade. Igelsias would have been fine with me, and keep Madrigal. But there is no way Hendriks and Kimbrel are both on the team next season.
  19. Bummed it's Madrigal.
  20. I'm guess if Crochet is the price, they aren't paying much of Kimbrel's salary,
  21. At least for this year, the Sox starters and back end of the bullpen are going to be nails.
  22. Or pick up the option and trade him for prospects or other needs.
  23. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox checked, but chances are you will win money if you bet the Sox don't get Kimbrel.
  24. Crochet is weird to me. His numbers are good. His k-rate is more than fine. But every time he comes in, I'm a little nervous.
