  1. Correct. It's basically just a bar at that point.
  2. A trick for no wait Au Cheval. Get there between 430 and 445. They don’t start serving burgers until 5 pm. I have done this 4 times and it has worked every time. Get a couple cocktails in you, then ask for the dinner menu.
  3. Billy is such a bad hitter, he doesn't need a rehab assignment.
  4. It's probably a little tricky. They probably know they are going to need more than Escobar. I am sure they hope they can stay above water as long as possible to give the injured a shot at returning, but more players is taking on more money. Taking all of Escobar's contract probably gets it done, but i don't think the Sox want to hamstring other moves by eating it.
  5. They probably have to get his OK for the money, and he probably isn't that accessible right now, so it is possible.
  6. It is so muggy out there. What is the over/under on how many times Steve Stone mentions a lively park tonight?
  7. Who knows what everyone's value will be in a couple of years. A couple of months ago, a lot of people would be laughing if someone said the cost of a player that could help the team win was Collins or Burger. At some point, all these guys are going to start making significant money at the same time. They may wind up trading off a piece or two if guys like Burger, Cespedes or Colas show they are capable.
  8. Totally disagree. Selfish is a guy who has to be feeling great to consider playing. Would rather just cash his check. This is a guy who wants to help the team win. It's up to the team to determine if he is not physically up to it, and do what they have to do.
  9. The weird part about it was Hamilton was batting righty when he hurt himself.
  10. RIP.Sounds like it was not unexpected. Reading some articles, she seems like she was a really good person.
  11. Good call by them. Play it when they are healthier, maybe with a reinforcement or 2, and playing better ball.
  12. I liked it better when potential targets played and there was a hug watch rather than just being out of the line up.
  13. Yes. After what we have seen this season, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw Burger playing everywhere but SS, C, and CF (don't give TLR any ideas)
  14. I think if all goes right, he could be Justin Turner. A little less contact, but a little more power. I also think Burger's walk rate will increase over time. OTOH, he can run out a grounder to SS and blow out his Achilles again and be done.
  15. To me, Jake Burger is going to have a MLB career as long as he stays healthy, and he is one of the better prospects in the organization. Trading him for a rental doesn't make sense unless it's a superstar.
  16. I don't know if he is a solution for anywhere. He is blocked but with Vaughn being able to play the OF, and Abreu with 1 more year on the contract after this season, and thinking Moncada with never get hurt again, I think he has value. I always read where he was going to hit, and he would be very popular. Seems he has taken his physical conditioning more seriously, that can only help. I would be leery of trading him. He seems like a professional hitter.
  17. Yes, but if Adolfo ever gets called up, he is going to make Adam Dunn's contact rate look like Nick Madrigal's. The guy has a shot of making it, but he has no place with the White Sox, especially when they sign Colas. You can't be spending a roster spot on him. But he is a decent trade chip. He is huge, has huge talent, has some numbers a fan base can get a little excited about, was once very highly valued. He's a guy that can make a salary dump look OK.
  18. He had a slight quad problem earlier, and he has has hammy issues in the past. He's pretty much answered the bell the last 4 seasons, and his weight is down significantly this year. I wouldn't be too worried about it, but it doesn't hurt to bring up concerns in negotiations.
  19. They will back down eventually. I guess their strategy is someone, if not one of the teams on him now, may have an injury or two and get desperate. Since his contract isn't prohibitive, they can play this off for a little while, but unless a team gets stupid, eventually the asking price will come down. In fact, if the Sox have to wait a couple of weeks, what they are willing to give up probably comes down since they will have him for a shorter period.
  20. Probably, but those are probably the best chances of actually getting something done at this time.
  21. Especially when you are counting on immediate results. If they were hoping the guy could help them out next year, OK, but they need him to be good and play all the time now.
