That’s true. But at least they don’t have to worry about flying bats.
-
We don’t know if he can bunt.
-
Both Engel and Eloy have suffered other injuries almost immediately after returning from missing a lot of time. I hope they can stop this trend with Robert and Grandal.
-
I agree, but Seby Zavala bunting vs. a guy throwing 96-97 really isn’t giving up an out. It is attempting to make the out productive. BTW I was at the game last night and after Collins walked, they had 1st and 3rd for TA. The infield was playing in and neither the 2B or SS were anywhere near second base. Collins could have stole 2nd without a play.

Team sucks. 9 game leads suck. They are going to get wiped out in the playoffs.
-
I would be all for it if Abreu was hit on purpose. But that was not the case. Dick measuring contests sometimes make sense. Not here. The AL Central has surrendered, perhaps for several years. Just keep your eye on the prize.

White Sox acquire Tepera, Bailey Horn to Cubs

A pretty horrible debut. The boo birds were out. -
I was at the game and a guy behind me was with his son. He was explaining a lot to him so it could have been the kid’s first game or the first one he actually could comprehend. Anyways, when Hendriks comes in the dad tells his son to keep an eye on him when he gets the 3rd out, he goes nuts. Liam didn’t disappoint.
-
And also ends the 6 out save, although it’s been successful, it will probably aid Hendriks as the games pile up.

He seemed to me to be as advertised offensively. Not as fast as was thought. He certainly isn’t Billy Hamilton running the bases, but he isn’t Paul Konerko either. I read where he is in the top quarter in baseball. Did struggle some defensively initially, but was doing much better at the time he was hurt. I think he is going to be a nice player for as long as his body will let him. He is a young guy, and his game was definitely on the rise, just like we expect from all of the Sox younger guys. I never understood the hatred. The Soxtalk scouts had Mendick as a capable replacement.
-
It was the only way Seby might make contact, so it made perfect sense, and as soon as the runner got to 3rd, Seby was benched. I think it is the first time I have ever seen a pinch hitter in the middle of an AB without a pitching change or injury.

Greg Kembral. This guy is awesome.

It’s morning and Tony LaRussa is trending again.

It would have been nice had he checked on Jose before Pushing Pair ez away. And I do love the fake outrage where he is holding on to Cairo for dear life, knowing that there is a decent chance he gets his ass kicked if he got into anything real, but as a Sox fan who has always wondered why this guy is managing the team, this isn’t really embarrassing. I do wonder about his logic. This clearly was unintentional and no one felt worse about it than the pitcher, yet he almost cheers when Yermin was intentionally thrown at earlier, using it wasn’t at the head as partial reason not to care. Well, intentionally trying to hit someone has a better shot of being a beanball than just trying to throw inside, and other body parts can be injured by getting hit by a sphere coming at you 97 MPH. Just thankfully Jose is OK. -
Yes. It's certain. They will trade one of them.
-
Works both ways. I am sure when the Sox traded Q to the Cubs someone on MLBN called the Cubs big winners. The Sox have to win at least one or two playoff series for to bean actual win IMO.
-
It would depend on what else was available and what the cost was. Kimbrel is great. Could the Cubs have still won with a closer that didn’t cost so much? Probably. But it would have come down to who was available. No question this helps the Sox this year, but there are several baseball executives quoted, who get paid to evaluate talent and not sing insurance jingles, who claim the Cubs killed it with this trade.
-
Everyone does, but the money doesn’t work.
-
If Steve was correct, no one would ever make a bad trade, yet somehow, everyone does. The Sox are going to wish they had Madrigal down the road, but for this season the back of the bullpen couldn’t be more stacked. Hopefully the injured guys come back and this team can catch the ball well enough and score enough runs to wins some playoff series.
-
There is no way Kimbrel and Hendriks are both on the roster next year.
-
So does this mean since the Cubs allegedly had their choice between Madrigal and Crochet, that Crochet is garbage? Just remember, these are the same guys who traded Tatis JR. and Semien. Stone isn’t ever going to blast the White Sox on a trade. He likes his job.

Sox playoff bullpen is just disgusting

It’s like an all star game. -
A little TT.
-
Trade him for the 222-22-22 guys.
-
They should have another trade deadline at the Winter Meetings, this is too much fun. That, and waive any type of compensation on Free agents who sign before the Winter Meetings.

I thought about not cischek when the board was broken once this trade was announced. No one reads these boards anymore.
