Both closers were lit up. Very Unfortunate. I don’t understand Zavala pinch hitting unless Leury and Engel couldn’t play at all. Goodwin vs.a lefty multiple times in key situations was odd. The first time, bring Vaughn in for him would have meant Vaughn vs. a lefty with men on. Still, it was an entertaining game, and they still had a shot at the end.

I just think it’s really hard to take much away from a QB performance in a preseason game with teams playing vanilla defenses, and many of the guys defending not being regulars, and/or being out of the NFL when games count. Probably every pitcher has had soreness by this point. A panicked start may be exactly what they wanted to give Lopez. Give him no time to think about it. One thing I was reading about Lopez is that it took him a while to adapt to the changes they made with him, and he is all good now. Hopefully it worked, because he looks really good.

It could be they just decided to shut him down and the MRI was for show. You aren't supposed to put uninjured players on the IL. Billy Hamilton is another who probably is healthy enough to play, but they get their money's worth just having him around.

Looks like the MRI was clean. Boras says Rodon is healthy and the Sox are doing a wonderful job trying to keep him healthy for October.

I agree. IMO, it's Rodon, and it's not particularly close. He was hoping to be the 5th starter. He pitched like a Cy Young award winner.
