Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"

He doesn't say it on the telecast, only Twitter. So I give him no credit. -
Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
Dick Allen replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Moncada has never seemed to me to really enjoy playing baseball. It often seems he would rather be doing anything else. But he has worked his ass off, and his talent is off the charts. I am glad he is on the team. -
Has nothing to do with his managing, but does anyone else notice where Tony spends the game managing? Where he is standing and with players sitting on the high bench, and Katz and some other coaches standing at the railing, there is no way he can see what is happening on most of the field. He must have a TV monitor or something.

Bulls eliminated. Hope they get into the top 4.
-
Throw one game out, his ERA is below 3.00. He will be fine.
-
Why do you blame players if they are bad, but give Tony the credit if they are good? I don't like Tony, but I always figured he would run a game better than Renteria. So far, I don't see it. When Jerry Manuel used to make new line ups all the time, he was ripped as the "tinkerer" on this board. Tony always has a different line up. And IMO, he's been caught with his pants down too much so far. His top guys pitching in blowouts, and his lesser pitchers blowing up in close games. Maybe it will get better.
-
That's fine and dandy but you manage a rebuilding team a lot different than you manage a contender. Also we do not know the status of his bullpen guys. He might have been trying to get Mize to fight through the inning for his development. Jerry Manuel used to get ripped for leaving Jon Garland in too long. Garland grew and got better, so when Ozzie left him him, the Ozzeroo was a genius. Besides, if you can't ever question LaRussa, how can you question Hinch? The Tony lovers don't even care if he doesn't know the rules.

If Abreu is MVP quality with Renteria managing and below average with Tony, and it's not Tony's fault, why is it all because of Tony if guys play better? It's almost if you hate Tony, he is responsible for all the bad and none of the good. If you like him, he is the reason for all of the good and none of the bad. I think if they had Lynn and this version of Rodon last season, Ricky would probably still be managing the team. Not that it's not good that he is gone. I don't buy Andrew Vaughn gained valuable knowledge riding pine. That's BS, and even those that are trying to spin it, know it.
-
Ricky made the playoffs with 2 starters. You rip managers and players all of the time. You're posts contradict each other all of the time, and you say others have no idea what they are talking about. It's really funny.

Using catcher ERA when 1 bad start makes all the difference is ridiculous. Are you saying Gio would have not had a bad start if Collins caught him vs Boston? And I personally feel a CERA of 0.90 is pretty good. It would indicate to me the pitcher is pretty comfortable with the catcher. Since Grandal has been on base 13 times his last 4 games the haters have to find something I guess, no matter how ridiculous it is.
-
So moving forward, everyone agrees Grandal is no more than a .120 hitter. I don’t understand the love for Collins. I read here lots of times he was a waste, and the first time he shows enough where some team would give anything for him, the Sox need to dump him. Now, after a few good games , he is clearly the catcher of the future.
-
He’s pitched 30 innings. He has had terrific 30 inning stretches before. Not as terrific as this stretch. I just wonder with his limited use in recent years how many innings he has in him this season, and whether or not he will hold up. I am guessing the Sox ride him as far as they can and see where everything ends up. If he wins the Cy Young, Boras will get him ridiculous money and he will be gone. So the better he goes, the less likely he come back.

Albert's a HOFer so he's legit. Yermin is late so he is not. There is no way the Sox sign Pujols, but if they do, there should be a fan revolt.
-
Remember when Tony thought it was 2008 and put Pujols on? That was awesome.
-
Maybe, but most wanted the Sox to pay up for Joc Pederson. How has he been over that same timeframe? Springer was the guy or Harper or Machado. If they signed Manny, Moncada is probably a RF, maybe a CF now. Going cheap rarely pays off. The Sox have really sucked at signing the middle guys. They have done well with a couple of bargain guys, but once you get into the middle class, JR, KW and RH are lost.

I would venture to guess that 99.99999% of the posters who don't think TLR should necessarily have to know the rules since the announcers didn't and Frank and Ozzie didn't, would have fully held Ricky Renteria accountable for not knowing the rules if he was in the dugout. LaRussa is a hack. IMO, he always was, but give him his Oakland and St. Louis days. At the very least, it is rather obvious this isn't a guy who is 3 or 4 steps ahead of everyone else. Yesterday and a few other examples have shown he is at least one step behind.
