  1. I read where the Bulls were offering Sato and a 2nd round pick. That won't get it done.
  2. He can definitely coach. I wonder if his stint at ISU would be held against him, and you always have to wonder when guys move up in class, if they can land the next class of player. See Licklighter, Todd.
  3. The consensus seems to be this will be the end of Porter Moser at Loyola. I think the guy can really coach, I just wonder if he will be able to recruit enough if he lands a huge job. DePaul keeps being mentioned. Apparently they can pay more than Loyola, but if I were him and my choice was DePaul or Loyola, I think I would stay. The other thing I am wondering if when he was recruiting Krutwig, if he told him he would go to 2 Sweet 16s and at least on Final Four if he signed with Loyola. If he did, they would have thought he was a whackado.
  4. Loyola does play good defense, but Illinois still beat themselves. They played uninspired on the defensive end, even called out by the CBS crew, and were careless with the ball. When a center is stripping an All American guard twice out on the floor, it isn’t coaching, it is the All American not mentally where he needed to be.
  5. Loyola did execute well, but IMO, the Illini made it fairly easy for them. They backed off on defense, and didn’t execute on offense. I think they took Loyola lightly. You can blame the coach, but I don’t think there is a coach alive that has coached a really good team that hasn’t come out flat once or twice vs. an opponent. Their intensity level was nowhere near where it was once they really got cooking this season. Once you get down to Loyola by double figures, you’re in trouble. The CBS experts thought they would snap out of it at halftime. No dice.
  6. The Illini lacked energy. I think they thought this wasn't going to be much of a game. I know I figured they would blow them out. Loyola plays too good of defense. Even if you are making your shots you aren't scoring much. GA Tech had 49 points with 6 or 7 minutes left and they were shooting 57%.
  7. Rodon has really one full seaon in the major leagues. That was his second year, 2016. He was pretty great in August that season 5 earned runs in 30.2 innings. Other that that, and his rookie year, he has been a part timer because of injury. I don't know about the lazy tag. He has come back from shoulder surgery and TJ. If a little belly is a problem, Lance Lynn will put you in a rubber room. Lynn actually says his girth helps him hide the ball. The key to Rodon is staying heathy. Most guys will have a better plan at 28 tan at 22. He obviously also needed to knock off some rust. The fact that he wasn't rehabbing this past offseaon should help in his preparation. I was always a big fan, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him scratched from a start by the middle of April. I hope he can stay heathy but even if he does, is anything over 100 innings from him realistic?
  8. So if Engel is going to miss any time, they will call on an oft injured 35 year old who has less than 200 plate appearances the last 3 seasons combined. who will have virtually no spring training in hopes he can provide decent numbers right away. OK Cheesy.
  9. He is from Chicago. I think if the Bears offered him the same deal they had a shot. I am not too upset they lost Fuller. He was definitely overpriced, but he did show up every week, but like Nagy and the a lot of the Bears defense, he was living off 2018. Also think they still think they have a shot at Wilson. Why else would Graham still be on the roster?
  10. There always has to be a Soxtalk punching bag. Now there are 3. Madrigal, Collins, and Eaton. They can do no right. And Lopez and Rodon are on deck.
  11. I think that is the fate of any team without a franchise QB in the NFL. You might have a season here, a season there, where it all works out, but most of the time, you are mediocre at best.
  12. Kaplan had a tweet that between these clowns and Cutler, since 2009, the Bears have spent $195 million on the QB and won 1 playoff game.
  13. It’s his first start this spring. He won’t have a 1.99 ERA again, but he is pretty good. BTW he actually has won a Cy Young.
  14. They should have let Hamilton play LF and let Eloy DH just so they could line up Hamilton, Robert and Engel in the OF,
  15. I personally think the Bulls should get something for Laurie while they can. He's been playing pretty well, but they don't seem to miss him when he's gone. And he is gone for a while every season.
  16. They would have had interest but the cost was a franchise QB, Hicks and Mack are great players, every team would want them if the decision was simply a football decision.
  17. It's easy to say cut them all, but that's not what I wrote. I would trade them for some A Ball lotto tickets. Not all of them of course, but on an as needed roster sport basis. I don't care about Burr myself. I was only writing about 40 man roster spots.
  18. If the Sox need 40 man spots there are guys like Ruiz who if he gets claimed, who cares? Zavala, Adolfo, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Sheets, Flores...none are going to be contributors to a real WS contender, trade them to a non contender for someone who doesn't need a roster spot.
  19. I just think he threw Bob a bone. He can't gain any edge through the press. Giolito holds all the power. He doesn't have to sign an extension. He doesn't have to give JR a discount. The fact is JR will have to pay market rate, or really close to it to get Gio to sign. I really question whether he is willing to do that.
  20. Losing Patterson is going to hurt. Shorter fields help QB challenged teams.
  21. Foles was a Matt Nagy production. Cam Newton wasn't as good as Andy Dalton in 2020. There were rumors the Bears were going after the Red Rocket last season. this is a different year. The only free agent QB left on the market you would even consider advertising as a starter is Alex Smith.
  22. The Bears did upgrade from Trubisky. Dalton had a market. Other teams had some interest. Maybe not $10 million worth. Mitch is standing around and doesn't seem to have a market.
  23. Dalton has more starts in his career than Mitch, so you must be suffering from the same syndrome.
  24. He is better. Not the answer, but better.
  25. Mitch made his numbers vs. Detroit, Jacksonville, Houston and Minnesota. Put him in Dalton's situation last year, and you would know Dalton is better. Not a lot better. But better.
