  1. Its' a chip or an edge he has that probably wouldn't work in many situations, but probably makes him a better football player.
  2. No link. He said it at Soxfest a couple of years ago. Remember when he missed games with illiness? They were talking about how Coop can't go on forever, and when he goes, the new guy is already here.
  3. I'd like an external candidate with some new ideas. Hahn as already stated when Coop goes, Hassler is taking his place.
  4. They don't have a problem signing them in CA.

Someone is shooting at police in Philadelphia. More craziness.
  6. I have the feeling the Wellington Castillo era is in its final hours.
  7. The Astros lost a Verlander start vs. Baltimore a couple of days ago. It was the biggest upset against a betting line in MLB in 15 years. Looking at the Sox line up, this would be a close 2nd.
  8. It is an act. The guy is extremely bright. Coppock used to have him on all the time back in the day, and he , for the most part, played it straight.
  9. If Bos and AZ can't get him to hit, I'm not sure why anyone would even consider the White Sox could.

    2019 Catch-All

I was at the game yesterday, right after the anthem I went to the washroom, a guy comes up next to me as I am doing my business, "Did you see all those Mexicans who didn't take their hats off for the National Anthem? ( I did not) If they don't love our country, they should leave. Fucking xxxxxxxx. This country is going crazy.
  11. Good. That means if they are playing well, they get a lot of easy games the second half.
  12. Ozney and Oney were openly rooting against the White Sox at a game I was at a year or two after Ozzie left. I was sitting right behind them. I think the classy one is Ozzie Jr.
  13. One nice thing to see yesterday was Robin Ventura was there for the Harold ceremony and he got one of the biggest hands when introduced.
  14. Home runs is what wins games these days and the White Sox have been outhomered at home by more than 30. Jon Jay types don’t move the needle, he is the MLB version of a 7 foot post player in the NBA and a first round running back in the NFL. The game has changed, and passed bythese types . Hahn needs to pick up power, and hope the guys he has hit more homers. I think Moncada and Eloy should hit more. You figure so will TA. Robert and Vaughn obviously have some. Collins. Guys like Rutherford and Basabe are trade currency. They are baseball dinosaurs. They may develop into decent players but not the kind you win with in your line up every day.
  15. But he is also playing some 1B and could DH.
  16. The other thing that makes me curious, why does Skole get a better shot, all things considered than Collins?
  17. Guys like Shark and Vazquez show that WAR has its flaws. You wouldn’t want either pitching a game with the season on the line, yet they out WAR most you would.
  18. One thing really made me wonder today. The Sox get the lead off man on in the 8th down 2. Engel is next, and he is staring down the 3rd base coach like he expects a bunt. I know as Stone likes to say , no one likes a bunt more tha Ricky, but even Ricky isn’t going to bunt there. Baseball IQ not high.
  19. Last year we were lead to believe the Sox actually had enough payroll flexibility to sign Nachado AND Harper. They both signed for right ar or less than projections, and the team basically said it couldn't afford either o one in regards to what they signed for. It is nice to dream the Sox will sign ayer X, but until they do, it isn't reasonable to think they will or even might based on previous results. In fact, Hahn emphasized patience for the next free agent class. What are most teams looking for when they sign free agents late? Bargains. The Sox need a better plan than bargain bin shopping.
  20. I do think they are going to have to have an off-season that shows they are about done with the rebuild this winter. The typical half assed measures, window opening delayed again moves, are not going to be well received even by most of RH walks on water crowd. Expecting the team to make the playoffs in 2020 is not realistic, but expecting management to put them in position to be competitive and at least have a shot is not. It’s a very small expectation considering this group believes it is capable of building a team that wins multiple championships.

  22. He has, for the first time that I am aware, now put rebuilds at a 5-7 year process. He also seems to think all of his injured players will return without a hint of diminished skills. On top of that, it appears he really isn’t thinking any of his top guys will ever suffer a significant injury again. Another thing I took from the podcast, the chances Rodon gets non tendered are close to zero. Paying him to rehab is fine, but if he shows anything when he returns, he will be signing somewhere else. I would also like to know where he gets the White Sox are becoming a top destination for free agents . Did Jon Jay tell him this whe his family thanked RH for the $4 million gift?
  23. Apparently the White Sox were thrilled just for a seat at the table. I agree, Hahn saying nothing last year would have saved him a lot of the twitter grief he hates. But he is great at talking out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand it’s great the Sox came in second, put a feather in their cap because, I don’t know why, but on the other hand he says it’s binary, you either sign him or you don’t. Trying to get cute then losing out and spinning we made the better offer, but we cannot afford the one he picked is just telling the fan base how dumb they think they are. i will believe it when I see it. That goes from them actually closing the deal on franchise altering players, and actually putting together winning teams. Hahn and his multiple championships line is silly. How is he qualified to know what “multi championship players” look like? He would be done as a GM by now if he was with any other team. I listened to a lot of the podcast and his answer about the Nate Jones trade was telling. Blah, blah, blah Paddy doesn’t like any more prospects...this is going to be big for us. Saving $3 million in today’s game is big for a mom and pop operation, not some team with unprecedented payroll flexibility who will soon be competing for multiple championships.
  24. A lot can be overcome if you are willing to be the high bidder. That is what Hahn can do. Supposedly Harper hated Philly, and Machado liked the east coast. Funny how offering the most money usually gets things done.
