I think Yolmer is a lot like Shields. I don’t know where else he would have 2200 plate appearances, even though he isn’t the worst player in the league. But to me and I am sure many more, just like Shields, the rebuild won’t feel like it is in the next phase until they move on from him. If he as a part timer these past several seasons, playing a role for which he is more suited, his arb number is probably lower and I probably wouldn’t feel the same way.

I think if a contender picks up a significant piece it may open the floodgates. If not it will be like the winter meetings all talk no action.

I think soxfan2014 is correct and this will be moved back a couple of weeks next year, but it's great for a seller, it's now or never for the buyers.

They have had to win the division to get to the playoffs despite being in a division that usually has 2 or 3 teams that are horrible, They had 17 winning seasons in a row, with a better winning pct. than your the White Sox are so great era, and you focus on the period before it and after it yet rip on people that are focusing on the period after they were decent or before they are hopefully decent. The fact is, overall, in the 39 seasons JR has owned the team, it's been very mediocre overall. Right around .500, very few playoff appearances, and 1 title .

They would have made the wildcard in 1990 if they had one, and would have made the second wildcard in 2006. if it existed. A fan could not ask for more.

Uh, the season started at the end of March, not June 10th. They have already played KC 16 times. They are done with Baltimore, done with Seattle, done with Toronto. Their overall schedule has been soft. Pick and choose all you want, that was a tough stretch, but the fact remains, you would rather have them face KC and Detroit the rest of the way than Cleveland and Minnesota if you are looking for wins. And who said the Sox were headed to the cellar? Have you looked at Detroit and KC?

2012 was quite a while ago. I think in JRs 39 seasons of ownership they average less than 1 win a season over .500. Mediocrity defined. 5 playoff appearance, 1 WS, the only seaon they won a playoff series. One odd thing, they've never been a wildcard team win the division or bust.
