Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
So that's how Jose got to 100. I just think sometimes you have to step back at least a tiny bit from WAR and try to be logical. The White Sox have one of the lowest scoring teams in the AL. jose has accounted for a lot of runs. Maybe, just maybe the hate a few have for him is a bit overboard. 3rd quickest White Sox to 1,000 hits, first White Sox player with 30 doubles 6 straight seasons.

Twins @ Sox 8/29 Berrios vs Cease
I think if he stays healthy, he will be fine. He is giving up homers like never before. 13 allowed in 52 innings. In 354 minor league innings he only allowed 16.

Hitting .355 this month with an OPS around 1.000. I would say that is streaky good.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Yet you praise Moncada who is -6 DRS, so about -10 over 162, and TA is -8 DRS, so even worse. Pick a lane,.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
Because it's an offensive game, and Rendon and Moncada would probably be better in a line up than some RF and Moncada. They aren't signing Rendon. Moncada will be at 3b.

That is changing. More players are playing multiple positions. More infielders are becoming outfielders....Maybe next year when rosters go to 26 that may change a bit, but the more positions you can play, doesn't really hurt your value.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
If they signed a guy who could only play 3B or somewhere else on the infield ie. Machcado last year or Rendon this, or if Moncada fell apart. Maybe you should read my earlier posts. The one you responded to even said "if they had to". I could only imagine what you would be saying right now if Moncada was moved to RF this year, played really well, and some mentioned perhaps signing an OF and moving Moncada to 3B.

When it was announced Moncada was moving to third, we heard time and time again on this board how awful that decision was. I'm sure if they had to, he or TA would make decent outfielders. It's not a real hard transition as long as you can run. The plus is each can also throw.

I agree. Even Kris Bryant plays 3B, LF and RF,

Anderson will be fine at SS. IMO the problem is he makes spectacular players look easy, and seems to try to make easy plays look spectacular. Once he gets it in his system that he doesn't have to add some flair to the easy ones, he might be GG quality.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Last winter, Buster Olney laughed when people thought the White Sox would sign a premier guy. He isn't a shock guy. He isn't a moron. Until Buster can't laugh anymore, having confidence the White Sox will actually convert on any player of this ilk has to be very low.

It was to make the Phillies feel they weren't bidding against themselves. Boras has more clients. Philadelphia still has more money. The White Sox, who were more open about their Machado chase than ever before, had nothing to say about Harper except he cost too much. They didn't pursue him again. Ask wsd. He heard nothing about Harper after the December meeting, and while I am not a fan of his, his stuff was the most accurate last winter.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
Boras fed Heyman some BS to increase the offers. The Sox were done with Harper right after their meeting. The Sox were used as leverage, again.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Especially now that they have Vaughn. Eloy, Robert and Moncada from left to right would be a fun OF. But I do agree with the post above. There is very little chance they move him again unless he just falls apart at 3B, and that doesn't seem likely.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
If the Sox would have signed Machado, Yoan probably stays at 2B until Madrigal is ready, then moved to either 1B or RF. Now, I don't know if you move him again, but Biggio moved around. Started out at C, moved to 2B, then to CF, then I think he moved back to 2B. So he probably could handle it, but for now, it makes no sense to move him from where he is unless something better comes along.

To be fair, they didn't negotiate with Boras last winter over Harper. They heard the asking price, thought it was too much and moved on.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
When you go out to lunch and there is a line out the door, do the people working there perform as well as when there is one or two people there? Some probably do, and might even kick it up a notch, others become overwhelmed. In my job, there are very busy times. Some people step up, some check out.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Because I know it exists. It exists at my current job, it existed when I played baseball, it existed when I had to testify at a trial. How that is measured in a stat, I do not know.
-
Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
And I get where mathmatically it would be very hard to measure due to sample size, and like I mentioned before the randomness of the gaem where sometimes really good ABs have far worse results than bad ones. But it seems to be the industry standard, if it can't be measured, it doesn't exist, and common sense and everyday life makes you know it exists.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
To think everyone will perform the same whether the situation is stressful or not, is ludicrous, whether it's baseball, or being an accountant or lawyer or cutting hair. Some people fold, some rise to the occassion when the chips are on the table. The object is to score runs. Jose Abreu has produced a lot of runs for the White Sox with very little help, it's hard to understand how some can't understand that.

Abreu is 11th in the league, which pencils out between great and excellent. But he sucks, just ask chitownsportsfan.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
I'd much prefer Jose get his hits when nobody is on base. Why score?

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Of course you are a guy who though Yonder Alonso was good. Yet if you looked at his advanced numbers, he's pretty much sucked his entire career, save one season. But go on a rant telling me I am stupid and using some slang to call me a girl. The bottom line is you have no idea what you are writing about.
