What does a McCann extension look like?
Dick Allen replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why were people b****ing when McCann was signed for $2.5 million? What's his arb number next year? These extension numbers are crazy. You really think his BABIP will continue over .400? -
I don't think Abreu will cost too much to re-sign: “We’re going to be very, very good. That’s why I’m telling you guys that if the White Sox don’t sign me, I’m going to sign here anyway. I’m going to sign myself here. I’m going to be here, believe me. I’m going to be here. I don’t want to miss this, I don’t want to miss what is coming, and I’m going to be here.”

Sox claim 1b A.J. Reed off waivers AND send him to majors

In about 15 ABs it will either be wtf were they thinking claiming this guy, or buy out his arb years. -

Swing and miss guys like Collins need regular ABs. You are just asking for a huge funk with limited playing time. Really, they should have seen the amount of LH pitchers they would be facing and kept Collins in AAA. -

Unless Castillo is ready to return, Collins is still going to be around. They seem to be swapping out Palka for Reed -

McCann has an over .400 BABIP. Sorry, his numbers are going to go down a bit, especially catching. I don't know why so many want the team to extend him now when they already have control of him next season. Wait it out. -

There is a 95% chance this guy gets released in the next 75 days. So what, he takes ABs away from Skole. Maybe they figure something out and get him back to where he was as a top prospect. This is basically a free look. -

Palka and Madrigal are exact opposites. Everything Palka is good at, Madrigal can't do. Everything Madrigal is good at, Palka can't do.

I am glad we don’t have to hear that Kermit the Frog sounding Cubs guy anymore. -

Will Nick "The Little Magician" Madrigal be called up this year?
Dick Allen replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Home runs have never been part of this kids game, so I wouldn’t worry too much about how many he hits this yearI am sure the Sox will work on getting him stronger, and eventually he will reach the seats enough to shut up the doubters. That said, he and Robert started in A ball this year. And going by recent history, if Madrigal gets another promotion this year, it will be to AAA. I would say if that happens, let them finish out the season there, and see them in spring training. 4 levels in one season is a bit much, and with Roberts history of injury, you probably would be playing with fire having play an extra month after really hardly any playing for 2 or 3 years. -
27 year old just don’t drop dead. Maybe he slipped and hit his head, but that would probably have come out.chances are it is either some sort of defect with his heart or brain, a suicide or an overdose. They probably have a pretty good idea of what it is, and probably don’t want the Angels to have to answer the same questions about it in every city they go. Wait until October and it will sort of fade away.

Two Sides to the Trade & Free Agent Coin
Dick Allen replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No one knew how bad or good the Tatis trade was because he had never played an inning as a pro before he was traded. Of course it was an awful trade, but the White Sox were not alone in underestimating him. It isn’t like he signed for a ton of money. He wasn’t ranked in the top 15 for international signings. The one problem I had was why the team placed such an urgency on trading for a guy you hoped would be a #4 starter? If they had waited another couple of weeks ,Tatis gets into uniform and maybe you have a different view of his availability, and Shields gets pounded a couple more times so maybe either the interest or price tag or both go down in him. One thing to keep in mind when thinking about these 15-17 year old international prospects, besides their age is something Buddy Bell mentioned during a Soxfest seminar. They don’t get to see these guys actually play many games. They are all about the showcases. So many really have no idea how to run the bases or which base to throw to etc...I think that is why former MLB offspring stand out, you have to think with their exposure they are probably more advanced in those ways than their peers. -
When will Luis Robert be promoted again?
Dick Allen replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
Fegan said Robert to Charlotte has been discussed with Steele Walker moving to Birmingham. -
There is a reason he was able to be obtained on waivers. He hit some homers, probably will always hit homers, but other than that, he has no major league skills. To be fair to him, the way he has been used since he has been back isn't exactly a way to get a guy struggling to get hot. Infrequent use, and facing a lot of LH pitching is only going to make him fall further into the abyss.

Did anyone notice when Candelario had his little fit yesterday after he walked into a pitch and it caught him on the right hand, he used his right hand to slam down his helmet? He was halfway to 1B as well, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt on delayed pain. -

Rondon is more of a head scratcher than Alonso. Alonso at least at one time seemed like a legit middle of the order bat. -

That is not what I read from Crains.Hopefully it turns into a Dodgers situation. The Sox could really benefit. Ricketts owns half of Wrigleyville now. The cash registers are humming from early in the morning until everyone passes out later. -

Sure, although Toronto is better than Det ot KC and it isn't close. Look at the team Det threw out there yesterday. Who is good enough to start on the White Sox? Nick C , but who else? It was sad to me watching Miggy move yesterday. -

Any team can win a 5 or 7 game series. But the Twins, Indians and White Sox overall record will be bloated playing 38 of their games against basically minor league teams. -

The Cubs have enough core players where throwing money around every year will always make them a threat. They have already mentioned increased spending with their new TV deal. -

The Ricketts are printing money. Just wait u until next year when White Sox fans have to pay more for their cable Bill's whether they have any intention of watching the Cubs or not. The preseason advanced metrics had the Cubs not so good. And you don't have to be an average team in the AL Central to have a record around average.
