  1. Gives McCann a break from catching. I am sure he catches tomorrow and Collins watches.
  2. He looks like he should have some power.
  3. Screw Ozzie. Hire Ditka. Unfortunately, Ricky will be here until he screws up JR's Dunkin Donuts order multiple times.
  4. Why? He is arb eligible. Why not make sure he doesn’t turn back into James McCann.
  5. I think he was overthrowing the last couple.
  6. I am getting sick of the black jerseys.
  7. Peanuts wouldn't have been worth it. Archer was right handed for Jose Quintana. Signed cheaply and an advanced statistician's wet dream. You wouldn't have gotten anything close to that for Rodon.
  8. Just like we do on here when someone struggles or gets hurt or gets sent down...we look for bargains. Someone was hoping to get a guy who was a #3 overall pick for peanuts.
  9. I would think coming off the shoulder surgery, he value wasn't that high, even if he was pitching well at the time. You would have to figure with the layoff, he would hit a wall eventually, and he did.
  10. He was able to return from that. Now he has no shoulder issue, so why does he have no chance to return? You did say he was done.
  11. I do think people bank on TJ surgery being no big deal, but there have been several guys who have come back not so well from it, at least initially. Rosenthal, Smylie, Burdi....So with 1 year to go before he goes wherever he wants, you would have to think Rodon is seriously a non tender candidate. It probably depends on how the rehab is going.
  12. They are, but average is average, and the highest payroll in franchise history is $6 million below this years average. 20 teams had payrolls above the Sox "record" in 2018, 16 in 2017, 10 in 2016 when they still were "all in".
  13. Maybe, but did you know the average MLB payroll right now is higher than the Sox highest payroll ever? If you think about it, the only reason you can say the Sox payroll is competitive is due to the division they are in. Most other divisions, the JR is cheap narrative would be louder than imaginable.
  14. Weather hasn't helped, but there is no question signing one of these guys would have been a boost at the box office.
  15. When they have had money to spend, top guys have never been realistic because as KW liked to say, you can't spend $1 if you only have $.50. They just didn't want to spend money on the top guys. Spreading it around and hoping everything went right was the plan.
  16. That has been their plan for years except they generally pick the wrong guys shopping in the bargain bin. One year, they hit on just about everyone and won a WS. Other than that, it's been mostly an Adam Dunn swing and a miss. A superstar would have been a nice boost to the franchise. Maybe they will sign one some day. The thing is, you don't get the opportunity to sign guys like Machado and Harper on the open market at their age very often.
  17. Everything sucks except your opinion.
  18. He's been so bad his fWAR is about the same as Tim Anderson.
  19. Machado has a very similar fWAR to Moncada. He's playing pretty well. Harper hasn't been very good, but he'll be OK and would have been a huge upgrade to the crap the Sox currently trot out to RF, not to mention the extra revenue these guys would have brought with them.
  20. But they cost money, and nowhere near minimum. BTW, if you went back to the beginning of the rebuild, not many would be happy with hovering around .500 at this time. Many thought 2019 was going to be the first year of contention.
  21. Who cares about hovering around .500 ? That's mediocrity defined. And since only 2 of those guys have actually played in the major leagues, and one for 14 innings, why do their injuries make much difference other than to fit into your ridiculous narrative.
  22. Yeah, you can get guys like Nova, Alonso, Jay, Santana. Maybe now that you have some prospects, pick up another Shields.
  23. Moncada would be at 2B if Machado was signed. I believe he would outplay Yolmer and Rondon. And he would have probably been a candidate to move to RF if Madrigal warranted an eventual starting postion on the roster. I think he is probably a better option than Palka or Cordell or Tilson or whoever else the Sox might throw out there.
  24. You said facts. So name the 2 pitchers Jose Abreu has homered off of most often in his career. Justin Verlander Corey Kluber So your first sentence is garbage.
