  1. It isn't his fault, but I am waiving Charlie Tilson immediately if this costs Eloy more than a couple of weeks. I know it's irrational, but why would he admit he was calling it late?
  2. It is hard to believe the defensive clown show we have seen tonight is an actual major league team.
  3. Hawk must have said 100 times Greinke's contract was one of the dumbest in history. I'm sure JR agrees.
  4. The way Hawk talked about Greinke's contract makes me feel there is no way the White Sox ever acquire him when he is playing under its terms. I'm sure he wasn't the only White Sox guy to think it.
  5. No chance. It was easy BS from the get go just from timing.
  6. I think Jason is getting desperate. Sometimes just saying your info was bad is better than the spin.
  7. It was incredible. A guy saw him at O Hare 3 and a half hours after their game ended in Oakland. I wonder if he still was in uniform. I am not on Twitter but that clown needs to be called out.
  8. The guy didn't see him at the airport. They were in Oakland. The earliest the guy who saw him at O'Hare last night could have seen him was probably around midnight. Ever been to O'Hare at midnight on a Sunday night? Unless you were on his flight, you weren't going to run into him.
  9. I find that hard to believe. What was messed up was it wouldn't have taken much investigation to realize they would be facing so many lefties, so if they weren't going to play him much, call up someone else. They probably liked having him exposed to McCann, and he now probably has a better idea what he needs to work on with the bat even though expecting a rookie with a lot of swing and miss to be anything but a failure being used like he was is unrealistic. He was clearly set up to faIl. That should be unacceptable. He was also taking a lot of balls at 1B, so I imagine if AJ Reed wasn't acquired, there is a decent chance he stayed on the roster in that role as well as catching.
  10. Yeah, I thought he was. Either way, it's no big deal.
  11. His option was "burned" when he was sent to Charlotte in the spring. This call up had no bearing. Service time, yes. But it's just a couple of weeks.
  12. Like with Abreu, the stars were aligned where the heavy spenders weren't going to be making bids. When Robert becomes a free agent, if he turns into a superstar, at this point, we have no idea who will need an OF at that price. It could be only the cheapskates, or it could be NY, LA, Bos. I don't like the Sox chances if those teams have a real need.
  13. Signing free agents is pretty much a binary activity. You don't get a trophy for a competitive offer. It was a fail, compounded by the cash they spent on his wothless friends.
  14. We have no idea who will be signing the checks when he is eligilble for a big pay day, but the White Sox generally don't outbid other teams for their best players. Steve Kemp left. Frank Thomas didn't get to free agency taking less. They let Ventura walk with a token bid. They let Belle opt out and leave. They were going for a home discount with Maggs before he got hurt. They didn't want to pay Buehrle, which may have cost them a division in 2012. They re-signed Paulie after winning the World Series, but it wasn't the highest bid. To think the White Sox would make the highest bid for a premium free agent would be thinking they would do something they rarely if ever, have done.
  15. So we all better hope Lou Bob is great, but not too great. The fact of the matter is 8 years from now there is a better chance JR, KW and RH are not in their current positons then they are seen at Guaranteed Rate Field every day. So the whole thing was just a stupid comment. As for service time manipulation, right now it's part of the game. Service time is something front offices should be more than aware of. PTAC has an issue with service time manipulation except when it comes to Super Two. To me, that is hypocritical. It's the same concept. I am sure it is something that will be addressed in the next agreement, but for now, 2 weeks for a year of control is a great deal. Who knows where you will be in 6 or 7 years. You may be trading Robert. A year more of control nets better players.
  16. They said they wouldn't be able to afford to put a good team on the field if they had to pay him an additional 2 years.
  17. Because their offer to Machado and comments afterwards have already told you they will be cash strapped in 8 years.
  18. There are very few teams, if any, you couldn't say the same thing. Take any team's top 2 prospects away, and their rank will drop off a cliff.
  19. Mendick would be hard for a fan to judge. Everyone puts up big numbers in Charlotte. I just wonder if Eduardo Escobar has anything to do with the Sox love of Yolmer. They were pretty similar profiles. Very well liked by everyone. Good gloves. Punch and judy hitters. Escobar develops some power, maybe, especially after Yolmer hit double figures a couple of years ago, they hoped for the same path. If they had any clue Escobar would be a 20 homer guy, they never would have traded him.
  20. Yolmer will be gone soon enough. His arb numbers are getting up there. Leury can do what he can do plus more for less money. Unfortunately, Yolmer hasn't hit enough to make a team think they can use a guy like him for the last 60 games. For now, who cares? I am as sick of him as anyone, but playing Rondon more, which was suggested earlier in the year, doesn't make much sense. He makes Yolmer look like an all star. The other options are weak. Just like with every pitcher the Sox must immediately DFA. Do you really want to see Despaigne again? Hector Santiago? Unfortunately, we have to embrace a certain level of suck, because what is behind it sucks way worse or isn't quite ready.
  21. No to Hayward, and what kind of pot does Charlie Tilson sweeten?
  22. One more bunt and Ricky is going to have to leave the dugout and grab the baby oil.
  23. Robert’s original thumb injury was on a feet first slide into second. His hand grazed the second baseman causing the injury.
  24. All I know is that if they empty out the bullpen fora prospect, they better hit on the prospect. This is a little different than trading for Rutherford. You didn’t need a good bullpen for a couple of years back then, but you will next year.Since a lot of their minor leaguers they thought would be holding don bullpen roles now are hurt, it would make for a huge dilemma next year if you expected to be good. It also would mean this team would probably lose 87-90 games. And would that stunt development ?
  25. He is pretty similar to Tyler Flowers, who after he left the White Sox, all of a sudden started getting on base, and looking like the player the Sox hoped he was several years earlier. Flowers hasn't broke the bank yet even with an over 5 fWAR season. There is little reason to open the checkbook to McCann right now. He's been great, but things can change quickly, especially with a catcher.
