Is Ricky the worst manager in White Sox history?
Dick Allen replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But you love Steverson and his guys have 1 run the last 29 innings, and that was by another guy you hate, Abreu. -
Ricky must have begged the White Sox for Alonso. There really is no other reason he is batting 4th at this stage than the manager trying to save face.
-
I doubt it is much higher. Especially for a non pitcher
-
Everything is working for them now, but until you see it for a longer period, I still think they remind me of the 2000 White Sox. They can win, even dominating, but are probably an injury or 2 and reality setting in to being an average team which in the AL Central makes you a playoff contender if not a favorite.
-
I just hope Seby hits a grounder to short or something soon. I wonder what the record is for consecutive strikeouts to begin a career.
-
I get that and youre right, but they did lose each game by 7 runs, and have scored 1 run the last 25 innings. That is a little beyond facing a hot team, especially since they were also given many runs.
-
TBH I wasn’t paying much attention at that point. I would figure a no power fast guy would have a decent glove.
-
I had no idea Tilson was so bad defensively.
-
I just think he is a young guy who is inconsistent with command and confidence. The only bad game he has when he threw at least 60 strikes was vs. Boston. The question will be whether or not he figures it out.

Seby Zavala promoted to Chicago; Castillo to IL

Until McCann comes down to earth, they aren’t going to call up Collins to ride pine or DH a lot and mess with an injury to a catcher. -
If the choice with Gio is be really effective but maybe the shoulder doesn't have a long shelf life, or just suck and the career doesn't have a long shelf life, he has made the correct decision. Hopefully he holds up.

In my best Jon Gruden, "I'll tell you what man", Giolito seems to have fixed himself quite well. This is a shocking transformation.

An Eloy homer and a triple play. This could be the Sox night.
-
If the White Sox make trades based on those rankings, they need a new front office. The writing was on the wall for him.
-
I think if they did prospect ranking daily , there is no way at the time of the trade his statement isn't accurate. He wasn't having a stellar season. It got worse, but there was a lot of talk about his lack of power.

Except when he is relieving.

ALONSO 2019 DUNN 2011 OFFICIAL COMPARISON THREAD OF DOOM
Dick Allen replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Alonso has put up higher than a 1.1 fWAR one time in his career with a 2.4. Trading for him for any other reason than getting Machado considering he is being paid more than ever would be dumb. No surprise he brings little to no value, but this bad is a surprise. -
I don't want any of them. But you have to figure, looking at track records, which everyone who wants Palka back is trying to look at, Alonso should improve. His acquistion without Machado was embarrassing. But at this point, what do you do? He should have sat a lot of games by now. Playing him every day is insane. Now if he gets back to his typical year, he will either have to be sat not to trigger his option or be traded, and who is going to want to be stuck with his option?
-
You don't want to believe .223/.285/.449 Palka's lifetime stats because he hit some homers in meaningless games. But believe his AAA numbers where everyone comes up big. If he were 3 or 4 years younger, I would probably agree, make room for him. But now? Who cares, Skole is putting up huge numbers. Where are the calls for him? If Alonso was playing for Charlotte and trying to get back instead of just playing out the string, his numbers would probably be enormous.
-
Alcedes Escobar who hits like he is using a rolled up newspaper has an .876 OPS in Charlotte. Don't believe what you see there.

How many wins do you expect out of this road trip?
Dick Allen replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
3-4 would be nice. They could get some confidence. Gio and Lopez are pitching pretty well. Nova usually alternates good and bad starts. Houston is great but banged up, and Minnesota isn't the house of horrors it used to be. I think they can do it. -
Toronto (18-26) v. Chicago (21-23) - 5/19/19 - 1:10 PM

Fry warmed up 3 times before he came in including once really hard in the 4th or 5th inning. He being BP an hour later is on Ricky and Coop.
