The only problem is the first couple of innings really benefit the pitcher. Banuelos looked good until Red Sox hitters could see the ball.
-
Courtney Hawkins also failed miserably, and he could do flips.
-
He can't even get that out of his $9 million DH who continues to rack up plate appearances which may eventually trigger some guaranteed money next year.
-
Apparently Eloy may be just about ready to play. I think he is eligible to come of the IL either today or tomorrow.
-
Cordell can play CF, so I bet Palka will return. BTW, was is the report on Cordell’s arm? It seems weak an inaccurate to me.
-
Coop will fix 'em.

I feel bad for him. I like Rodon more than most, and a lot of pitchers are fine after Tommy John. But if he's any good when he returns, he isn't re-signing with the White Sox, and what are the odds he puts it all together anyways. So they might as well not pay him and move on, and find someone else. The problem is look who will be doing the shopping.
-
You make a good point. They would have to pay him next year not to play. So probably well over $10 million in total to see what he has in 2021. We have probably seen the last of Carlos Rodon in a White Sox uniform. His wife had some comments about money during the winter. It was hard to tell what side of the fence she was on. I read them and couldn't figure out if she was hinting the White Sox were trying to lowball him or he might just take less money to stay. Doesn't matter at this point.

Jason has been much better this season. Doesn’t seem like he’s trying to cram an hour of material in 5 minutes of stage time at Zanies. Pit also makes Stone better. Their broadcast is probably as good as just about any team’s.

Apparently Rodon has had tightness in his elbow for a little while.

This is sad.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I just read there were more 3 pointers made during the 2018-19 NBA season than in the entire decade of the 80's. -
He actually should be a hero. White Sox fans like to complain. He's given us many reasons. Rick reminds me of the guys that used to make Dick Vitale's all airport team. Guys who looked good at the airport but couldn't play worth a damn. Rick is a bright guy, talks a good game, makes everything seem to make a lot of sense, and then loses, and loses, and loses. He looks and sounds the part, but the evidence suggests he should be doing something else.

But he was. Does Jose not have a responsibility to see the baserunner in front of him? If a ball gets away from the catcher isn't the runner on 1st responsible for making sure the runner on 2nd actually goes to 3rd before he takes off? It's the same concept. Maybe Anderson should have been somewhere else, but he wasn't. That doesn't mean you pass him up. It's a rare occurrence. Guys get hung up a lot more often because they don't pass someone. On a deep flyball that is either going to be a home run or caught, I would want all my runners tagging. At the very least, make him make a throw. Maybe it winds up wild.
-
You are supposed to watch what is in front of you What if Anderson fell down or hurt himself? It wasn't a no doubter, and this wasn't the first time Jose played baseball.
-
What Anderson did may have been stupid, but passing him up was more stupid.

AND THAT IS A 3RD STRAIGHT WHITE SOX WINNER!
Dick Allen replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They play a lot of really bad teams, so they might be better than thought. -
All that stuff takes care of itself. Never have the White Sox had too many good players.
-
You mentioned size. 5'11" is fine for a baseball player. He seems to have a lot of power, and tons of guys who supposedly know what they are looking at feel he is worthy of #3 if not higher. The only question I would have with Witt is there seems to be some doubt about his swing, and the White Sox seem to be one of the last organizations I would think could fix it. Other than that, it looks like the two teams in front of the White Sox will be making their choice for them.
-
Dick Allen 5;11" right handed first baseman. I'd take him 3rd.
-
Keep in mind Shields was pulling in around $20 million a year the last several years. Most likely the reason no one gave him a job is he probably isn't willing to work for peanuts.
-
I agree. The other thing is, with Anderson where he was, Abreu had very little if any chance at 2B if the ball somehow stayed in the park anyway. He would have had to make sure TA would have made 3rd and the throw to 2B is a lot shorter and he a lot slower, so it basically was HR or single or out for him. either stay on 1B or not even get there until the play develops.
-
Wow, I didn't know they could send him down. Must have been the minor league contract. That saves some cash. So not nearly as dopey as thought.
