Beer was old too. I was a year younger than most in my class, but I turned 19 about a month into my junior year of college.

It’s better than hearing Bud try to pronounce Los Angeles.

Whether he gets there or not this season, I bet the hope is to start him in AA next year.

The problem I have with this coverage is every player is described as a future HOFer. They need a Mel Kiper Jr. to say some team doesn’t know what the draft is about to mix things up a bit.

So SD is turning into the should have been White Sox with Abrams’, Tatis, and Machado.

I think Hawk is repping the Sox tonight. Mercy!

The other thing I like about Vaughn is oppo power, not afraid to use the whole field. Makes it unlikely he would be eaten alive by shifts.

I do know one thing, the report that KW wanted Abrams and the other White Sox people wanted someone else is total BS. That would never get out. This is a team that tried to make it physically look like they weren't interested in Abreu when they went to his showcase.

That's why I don't want them to mess around unless the guy they think is the best on the board can be had at a discount. Messing around would be losing 100 games for nothing.

Take the White Sox draft tonight. Take away the first pick and everyone else draft tonight would have been on the board if they selected last in the first round. Their 2nd rounder tonight would have been available with pick 30, right down the line. So their first pick, #3 overall is the prize.

I think the son is running things. He may not be as anal with hangnails. Adley does have some sort of shoulder issue. In the past, I am sure that would have made him a Royal if they wanted him, but not now.

I just hope they pick the best player on their board. The White Sox trying to get cute with undersloting seems like a disaster waiting to happen. This #3 pick is our prize for sitting through a 100 loss season. Everyone else they draft would have been available if they were picking 30th.

If Adley is gone I hope they pick him. But sometimes teams out dumb themselves. If his bat truly projects, there is no reason not to draft him. Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, Jim Thome, and Harold Baines say speed and playing up the middle aren't the only ways to be a franchise cornerstone I am just afraid they see tools in someone else that need a lot of development, and make the same mistake they made in 2010 and pass on a guy who actually will help you win instead of worrying about position flexibility when they let Thome go because Korsay could play the OF.

I did find Fegans interview with Hahn ineterstin in one regard. Collins isn't moving from behind the plate at least for 2 or 3 more years. Seems to make Abreu's extension a lock..

The other issue is the White Sox ability to develop. It has been a while since they have actually developed a hitter that seemed to hit all the hopes projection, if not more. I know people like Abrams a lot, and if he turns into Lindor, even if Vaugn is Goldschmidt it would be a great choice. But if he is Tim Anderson , not so much. I personally don't trust the White Sox to get the most out of Abrahms. And if a guy who some call the best college hitter ever is the safe pick and consolation prize, the team would get a big boost.

But that doesn’t mean there weren’t others that were worthy of being picked that high. Besides the same people who rip on 1B position value moan the most about White Sox first basemen not being good enough. maybe this industry wide devaluation of the position is starting to show. Abreu was hurt and bad for the most part last year but he was easily an All Star, and a Silver Slugger guy. If Vaughn is as good as more than one scout thinks, the White Sox will have an advantage at that position for years.

Since Reinsdorf has owned the Sox , who was the best player they drafted, and what position did he play? I am glad some other teams got caught up in the he can onky play 1B and decided to get cute. Even the Braves messed up.

Horseshir managing this inning f. Why warm up the lefty if you aren't going to use him?

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
I don’t think his potential ineffectiveness would be from lack of effort. But guys usually struggle if they are signed late during the spring. Signing him now would seem to increase the risk he isn’t very good in 2019.

Rumor: Cease will be called up "very soon"
The White Sox are currently 1 game out of the second wildcard spot. While you have to figure it is still a long shot, it might be time to start playing to win.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
I would stay away from him especially if it onky for the rest of this season. Chances are he is going to be a more than a little rusty, and will probably suck this season.

fangraphs basically rated Vaughn's bat about equal to Eloy's. Considering the hype Eloy has come with even while defensively challenged, I don't see why adding another bat of that calibur to the line up is anything but a positive even if he can only play 1B. Paulie could only play 1B. Big Hurt could only play 1B. If the bat is legit, pick him and don't worry about it.
