  1. Home runs have never been part of this kids game, so I wouldn’t worry too much about how many he hits this yearI am sure the Sox will work on getting him stronger, and eventually he will reach the seats enough to shut up the doubters. That said, he and Robert started in A ball this year. And going by recent history, if Madrigal gets another promotion this year, it will be to AAA. I would say if that happens, let them finish out the season there, and see them in spring training. 4 levels in one season is a bit much, and with Roberts history of injury, you probably would be playing with fire having play an extra month after really hardly any playing for 2 or 3 years.
  2. 27 year old just don’t drop dead. Maybe he slipped and hit his head, but that would probably have come out.chances are it is either some sort of defect with his heart or brain, a suicide or an overdose. They probably have a pretty good idea of what it is, and probably don’t want the Angels to have to answer the same questions about it in every city they go. Wait until October and it will sort of fade away.
  3. No one knew how bad or good the Tatis trade was because he had never played an inning as a pro before he was traded. Of course it was an awful trade, but the White Sox were not alone in underestimating him. It isn’t like he signed for a ton of money. He wasn’t ranked in the top 15 for international signings. The one problem I had was why the team placed such an urgency on trading for a guy you hoped would be a #4 starter? If they had waited another couple of weeks ,Tatis gets into uniform and maybe you have a different view of his availability, and Shields gets pounded a couple more times so maybe either the interest or price tag or both go down in him. One thing to keep in mind when thinking about these 15-17 year old international prospects, besides their age is something Buddy Bell mentioned during a Soxfest seminar. They don’t get to see these guys actually play many games. They are all about the showcases. So many really have no idea how to run the bases or which base to throw to etc...I think that is why former MLB offspring stand out, you have to think with their exposure they are probably more advanced in those ways than their peers.
  4. Fegan said Robert to Charlotte has been discussed with Steele Walker moving to Birmingham.
  5. There is a reason he was able to be obtained on waivers. He hit some homers, probably will always hit homers, but other than that, he has no major league skills. To be fair to him, the way he has been used since he has been back isn't exactly a way to get a guy struggling to get hot. Infrequent use, and facing a lot of LH pitching is only going to make him fall further into the abyss.
  6. Did anyone notice when Candelario had his little fit yesterday after he walked into a pitch and it caught him on the right hand, he used his right hand to slam down his helmet? He was halfway to 1B as well, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt on delayed pain.
  7. Rondon is more of a head scratcher than Alonso. Alonso at least at one time seemed like a legit middle of the order bat.
  8. That is not what I read from Crains.Hopefully it turns into a Dodgers situation. The Sox could really benefit. Ricketts owns half of Wrigleyville now. The cash registers are humming from early in the morning until everyone passes out later.
  9. Sure, although Toronto is better than Det ot KC and it isn't close. Look at the team Det threw out there yesterday. Who is good enough to start on the White Sox? Nick C , but who else? It was sad to me watching Miggy move yesterday.
  10. Any team can win a 5 or 7 game series. But the Twins, Indians and White Sox overall record will be bloated playing 38 of their games against basically minor league teams.
  11. The Cubs have enough core players where throwing money around every year will always make them a threat. They have already mentioned increased spending with their new TV deal.
  12. The Ricketts are printing money. Just wait u until next year when White Sox fans have to pay more for their cable Bill's whether they have any intention of watching the Cubs or not. The preseason advanced metrics had the Cubs not so good. And you don't have to be an average team in the AL Central to have a record around average.
  13. I don't think it is stunning. The White Sox play a high percentage of their games against awful teams. Det,KC are awful and they are a quarter of their overall schedule. A win is a win so at least they are good enough to beat these teams. I think Cle. will be that awful in a couple of years. If the Sox truly build a juggernaut they could dominate for a while, but I will not hold my breath.
  14. I have read on this board that Abreu is a dime a dozen player. He has no value. Why does he bat third!? He apparently, from what I have read here, refuses to DH. Obviously he is not a team guy from what I read here. .Why in the world would a team give up something of value for 2 months of his services?
  15. This is exactly how I feel. It is not like the money had to be spent this past year, and from those who say it does, then what are you clinging to thinking the White Slx will have massive payrolls down the road? They have been banking money to use down the road, and it's already a shit show.
  16. $25 million a year 9 years from now seemed to be a big deal, The $9 million is still money that could have beeen spent on something else, just like Jays money and Novas money. Eventually it all adds up to a very significant sum. If you buy The company line that every dime that comes in gets spent, these misses take its toll because they cannot spend it on something that would have been worthwhile. Hahn tried to sell it as a solid baseball move. Some actually bought it. There is a whole thread about how he changes the line up, and when the trade was made, more than a couple gushed about how good he was. He has put up better than a 1.1 fWAR once in his life. He has a 5 career fWAR in over 1000 games. He just isn’t very good, and really never has been.
  17. Coop will fix em. I have the weekend split package which as of a couple of years ago no longer included all the weekend games. However, It seems this package used to get a bloated number of James Shields starts, and now that he is gone, it seems we never miss an Ivan Nova turn. as much as we know no matter what is ever said, that Alonso and Jay were White Sox because of Machado, I wonder if Nova is as well. The Sox could have waited and saved some money going after a pitcher or two or three with similar expectations except for probably Innings, but maybe they wanted to have someone in place to make Machado think they could actually do something this year.
  18. I am pretty sure it is a photo from last season.
  19. Not really. They have another year of control, and he is currently sporting a .413 BABIP. That won’t be sustainable.
  20. I know it is now hip to hate Jose Abreu, but the new narrative that he won't DH is a bit ridiculous. He has done it 22 times, besides there is nothing that prevents Collins from doing it.
  21. Everyone has a nice OPS in Charlotte.
  22. Whatever. I would have preferred an infielder, but Leury at SS for a little while could be interesting to watch. Palka sucks, but so do all the others they would have called up. I just hope Collins gets his ABs while he is up, or calling him up was stupid.
