  1. BTW,, it looks like there is some autograph access
  2. I have a Maggs Ordonez hat that he threw out of the dugout right into my hands during a game he was just off. But my prize is my autographed Holy Cow Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall signed ball that I caught when I was 12 or 13. I went to a double header with my friend, his dad, and his sister. We were sitting in LF at the old Comiskey Park, and my friend and I decided to be cool so we went to sit behind the plate. There was an aisle at the old park just beyond the boxes and as we were walking Willie Mays Aikens hit a foul ball that hit the auxilary scoreboard . I jump up on the area behind the boxes ( it was higher so people could still see the game as idiots like me walked by) leaned up against the railing and one handed it. I then snapped it down like Dave Parker used to do. I got a nice hand and some high fives. We proceded to still behind the plate, and a little while later I got a tap on the shoulder, I assumed the gig was up, but it was someone who was going to escort me to the broadcast booth to meet Harry and Jimmy. I guess Harry went on and on about my catch. So we went up there, and I talked to him for about a minute during the game and they signed my ball. I still have it, even though it's pretty faded.
  3. I think the problem is guys who aren't very good fielders and who aren't too sure of themselves when this happens. It doesn't happen when Engel is out there.
  4. Cease was having command issues in AAA and wasn’t exactly on fire when he was called up. His struggles shouldn’t be a surprise. Hopefully he straightens himself out soon, or at least before the Sox should be good, which apparently is years from now since they are only 2 1/2 years into a 5 year rebuild.
  5. He will be really good once he gets some command. It may take a while.
  6. Didn’t the Sox sweep these dopes in Tampa last season? They will win at least one, maybe 2, then sweep the Marlins and everyone will be talking about finishing near .500again.
  7. And if they are still struggling in year 5, it's only year 5 of a 7 year rebuild. This rebuild shouldn't be as long as others. They had 3 assets they were able to sell for top prospects. Theo didn't have that. It should move the rebuild ETA up at least a season or two.
  8. 160 games played now in his minor league career .960 OPS with 59 steals. Not bad.
  9. What concerns me are injuries. They tend not to stop as you get older. I know Kopech and Rodon and Dunning will have no issues with their TJS even though White Sox minor league OF Adofo did. Anderson will never get hurt again. Eloy getting injured all the time will just stop. Robert's injuries will just stop, on and on and on. Hopefully, they all become healthy and stay there, but odds are it isn't going to happen that way.
  10. Tough one. Now 8-8 vs. KC this year.8 out of KC's 36 wins are vs. the Sox. 22%.
  11. So if Moncada went 0-4 with 4 k's, would that be a devastating blow to the rebuild? I prefer to watch them play well myself. Besides, if the draft another Madrigal, people complain, too little not enough power, every team plays him like a pitcher. If they use their losing to draft Vaughn, can only play 1B. is only 5'10".....At least winning makes more people happy than whoever the prize is for losing.
  12. Jorge Soler has future White Sox written all over him. Last night he pulls up on a foul ball and almost has it him him in the face with no effort to catch it. Then gets thrown out rounding second a bit too much. That's about as White Sox as it gets.
  13. I really doubt one game vs. KC in July is going to determine Yoan Moncada's future fate. This good loss for the rebuild crap is crap. It isn't one game or one week's results. It's long term, and the Sox will need more than Moncada being good to be g good team. What's good for the rebuild is as many players playing well as possible and that actually leads to wins. How did owning the Royals work for Matt Davidson?
  14. You just can't expect things even could go well with Detwiler on the mound. I can't wait for this rebuild to be over so you can actually root and expect to win, especially vs. crap like the Royals.
  15. They need to extend him while they have the chance.
  16. The broadcast always talks about other teams' run differential as being the true sign of where the team is at. They NEVER mention the Sox run differential which is 4th worse in baseball ahead of only Baltimore, Detroit, and Seattle who has played 6 or 7 more games. So if run differential really is a thing, this streak should surprise no one.
  17. There was always a school of thought that kids today focus so much on one sport, that it is what causes injuries. Way back when, a lot of kids played ,even if just for fun, the sports that were in season. I know my friends and I would play baseball in the summer, football in the fall, basketball in the winter or spring, even street or floor hockey in the winter. Using different body parts for each let some muscles develop and others to get a break. But something is going on. Players are playing less and less and getting hurt more and more. At least baseball has a 10 day injured list they can use as partial blame. NBA basketball used to be way more physical. Tons of guys averaged 38-40 minutes a night, and didn't take entire games off to rest.
  18. The thing is, it's the constant injuries to every one. All the time, season ender after season ender. At some point, you can't count on it stopping and everyone remaining healthy. It's like the Bulls. How many people think their roster is so improved and they will win so many more games? They are already dropping. Just wait until the season starts.
  19. If it was just a precautionary MRI, they have MRIs in KC. You think they would probably have a Royals doc give him one. I am guessing there was some consultation and there is reason to believe the Sox feel theyneed their doctors on this.
  20. No. Making him a full time DH at his agehas to be a last resort scenerio. Even Frank Thomas played the field longer. If it was 16 inch softball, a catcher just has to throw the ball back and has plays at the plate, and he can't be bowled over.
  21. The way Adolfo recovered from TJ makes me wonder how all the guys who actually need to throw 95 are going to recover.
  22. It depends. If he didn't hear him, and Tilson also admitted he called for it late, it is just an unfortunate occurrence. It didn't appear Eloy was going to make the play but it looked like he was calling for it as well, so it could be a case where he just couldn't get out of the way fast enough. Too bad this isn't 16 inch softball. They could move Eloy to catcher and call it a day.
  23. It seemed like such an inconsequential side swipe.. And he didn't seem to be in much pain walking off the field. He actually was smiling. Seeing this when I got on this morning shocked me. But they obviously x rayed it, and they don't seem too confident nothing is wrong. We can always blame the training staff.
  24. We can hope, but flying him back to Chicago suggests they think something is messed up.
