Acuna was with the Braves. Look at his numbers last year. Are you saying he wasn't ready for a September call up? They hold these guys out in September and some until the next Super 2. That is even longer than the Sox will hold out Eloy.
-
We aren't talking a full year here. Right now, if he is called up today, it's less than 2 months, on a bad team, playing meaningless, AAA-like games. Acuna put up big numbers last year and didn't get the call up. Despite dominating Spring Training, he was sent back to AAA. It didn't screw him up forever. The only argument against is it will hurt his development. Yet there are no obvious examples of someone being kept at AAA too long, having it ruin his career.

Acuna of the Braves had it happen this year. He's still doing OK.
-
Bryant isn't the only one. George Springer, Carlos Correa. Francisco Lindor...all were held back for either the extra year or Super 2. It didn't crush their development.

If the Sox were in contention, I would agree. But they are playing out the string. September games mean jack. We have been fooled so many times by outstanding September performances. How did they help Josh Fields and Jerry Owens and Brent Morel, and Lucas Giolito? If Eloy isn't going to be great, it won't be because they waiting until next year to call him up I know the team sucks now and the games are meaningless. At worst, the Sox are in the same situation in 7 years, and Eloy may not be a guy you really need that extra year at that point. I'll take the gamble. If he's going to be great, you think when he's 28 he should be peaking.

It would be hard to really determine, but are there any examples of players who stayed a month or two too long in AAA and it appears that damaged their development ? And if so, was it temporary or permanent? -
Plus in the next 30 days it's going up to $15. Next month I'll probably move on the AMC A List for $20. 3 movies a week, and you don't have to be next to the theater to get a ticket. Except for RBG, all the movies I have seen, including smaller ones, were available at AMCs by me. And there are a couple of AMCs that aren't on Moviepass. For $5, it's worth the convenience, especially with what has been going on with the Moviepass the last several days. It was way too good to last.

That's where I'm drawing the line. I am not stupid enough to think $68 million will be their record free agent contract much longer, but will they go into the Harper, Machado, Arenado stratosphere? That is one I just can't see.

You have taken my post out of context. Again. I am saying for those who think keeping Eloy in AAA will "hurt his development", when he wasn't playing at all, his development doesn't appear to have been affected. But try again. What's remarkable is how your answer is always Moncada because you can't come up with any real logic to burn the service time now. 2 months of 21 year old Eloy isn't worth an entire year of 28 year old Eloy. You know that, but have boxed yourself into a corner, and can't admit it. It's pretty hysterical. -

Let it go. Moncada was going to play for a bad White Sox team no matter what. In fact, he didn't even make his major leagued debut with the White Sox. -

There's that, and Eloy was out injured for an extended period. How did that hurt his development? Keep in mind most September games are basically AAA games anyways for non contenders. -

People actually want to trade a full year of 28 year old Eloy for 2 months of 21 year old Eloy, on a team destined for at least 95 losses. -

I don't see how their development can be destroyed by an extra month or month and a half in AAA. If that is going to do damage, they aren't what we thought they are. -

Why does that prohibit them from doing the right thing? If you are driving somewhere and have a couple of choices with directions and wind up choosing the one that wasn't the best and took you an extra hour or two, is it your law that since that is the path you chose, it can never be changed, and next time you will have to go the same way? -

It comes down to would you trade one or two months of these guys when they are just starting out, and have them play for an awful team, for a full year of them when they should be at or near their peaks, on a team that actually might contend. The answer is obvious. Maybe they don't get to their peaks. Anything can happen, but it's an easy choice. Unfortunately Hahn has to dance around it with ridiculous comments because for some reason saying what you are doing due to the current rules is taboo. Anyone who thinks not should not be ripping any other trades. -
It’s a fine rule, but it was awful interpretation. You have to look at the situation, especially since replay showed it was caught, and he was out anyway. If it wasn’t a catch, the benching is fair game. Still would understand why Anderson didn’t run it out, but he would have to know he should have. But an obvious catch that had no chance of not being overturned? It was a ridiculous response by Renteria.

The AL Central is there to be dominated after this year. Cleveland loses a bunch of guys. Everyone else sucks so bad. If most of these guys could just work out, winning divisions could get boring.
-
I’m surprised Shields wasn’t a hot commodity at the deadline. He can give you 7 innings of mediocrity with the best of them.
-
That’s a tough one to sit him down. He was out, and replay would have confirmed it. I guess you should run until you are called out, but you see a catch you are going to stop unless you are Pete Rose.

Trump looking to go around Congress to implement a Capital Gains tax cut of about $100 billion. 97% of the benefit would be to the rich. Keeping promises. He’s for the little guy.
-
Whether it’s fair or not at this point, Sale is most likely not to get much benefit of the doubt in regards to his long term health. When he becomes a free agent, assuming he keeps doing what he is doing, normally it would mean you could get 5 to 8 years from just about any team you wanted. He will probably get the years if he doesn’t get really hurt before then, but I think his choices will be limited compared to similar pitchers.
-
I don’t know how trustworthy he is. He would pitch in just about any condition.A couple of years ago, one of the ex players on MLB Network was talking about facing him, and mentioned a game he pitched where he wouldn’t throw a slider because his elbow was barking too much. The other team knew it, but he still cruised. Eventually, if they play long enough, every pitcher will get hurt.
-
I hope it is just minor. Considering his workload, he must be doing something right, but I always thought that one day I am going to hear his arm just exploded.
