FS: Checking the Boxes - a rock and a hard place
I don't see how their development can be destroyed by an extra month or month and a half in AAA. If that is going to do damage, they aren't what we thought they are.

Why does that prohibit them from doing the right thing? If you are driving somewhere and have a couple of choices with directions and wind up choosing the one that wasn't the best and took you an extra hour or two, is it your law that since that is the path you chose, it can never be changed, and next time you will have to go the same way?

FS: Checking the Boxes - a rock and a hard place
It comes down to would you trade one or two months of these guys when they are just starting out, and have them play for an awful team, for a full year of them when they should be at or near their peaks, on a team that actually might contend. The answer is obvious. Maybe they don't get to their peaks. Anything can happen, but it's an easy choice. Unfortunately Hahn has to dance around it with ridiculous comments because for some reason saying what you are doing due to the current rules is taboo. Anyone who thinks not should not be ripping any other trades.

Game Thread vs KC
It’s a fine rule, but it was awful interpretation. You have to look at the situation, especially since replay showed it was caught, and he was out anyway. If it wasn’t a catch, the benching is fair game. Still would understand why Anderson didn’t run it out, but he would have to know he should have. But an obvious catch that had no chance of not being overturned? It was a ridiculous response by Renteria.

Game Thread vs KC
The AL Central is there to be dominated after this year. Cleveland loses a bunch of guys. Everyone else sucks so bad. If most of these guys could just work out, winning divisions could get boring.

I’m surprised Shields wasn’t a hot commodity at the deadline. He can give you 7 innings of mediocrity with the best of them.

That’s a tough one to sit him down. He was out, and replay would have confirmed it. I guess you should run until you are called out, but you see a catch you are going to stop unless you are Pete Rose.

**President Trump 2018 Thread**
Trump looking to go around Congress to implement a Capital Gains tax cut of about $100 billion. 97% of the benefit would be to the rich. Keeping promises. He’s for the little guy.

Sale shoulder injured
Whether it’s fair or not at this point, Sale is most likely not to get much benefit of the doubt in regards to his long term health. When he becomes a free agent, assuming he keeps doing what he is doing, normally it would mean you could get 5 to 8 years from just about any team you wanted. He will probably get the years if he doesn’t get really hurt before then, but I think his choices will be limited compared to similar pitchers.

Sale shoulder injured
I don’t know how trustworthy he is. He would pitch in just about any condition.A couple of years ago, one of the ex players on MLB Network was talking about facing him, and mentioned a game he pitched where he wouldn’t throw a slider because his elbow was barking too much. The other team knew it, but he still cruised. Eventually, if they play long enough, every pitcher will get hurt.

I hope it is just minor. Considering his workload, he must be doing something right, but I always thought that one day I am going to hear his arm just exploded.

I am kind of with you there. If they are serious and intend to bid right with the highest offers, that will be one thing. If they play the "well take a little less, play for Ricky, he speaks Spanish, and everyone loves Chicago" tact, they normally use..then it's the more things change, the more they remain the same.- KW on Jimenez/Kopech

I agree. I would love to watch him play, but if patience is required in a rebuild, patience it shall be, and that includes waiting for Eloy. Besides, all the fans who love draft position would appreciate Delmonico or Palka in the line up anyway. But if for some reason they do call him up, attending games becomes far more interesting.- KW on Jimenez/Kopech
You're right, we have no idea what things will be like in 7 years. They could be extreme either way, but the Sox might as well take the insurance with an extra year. Worst case scenerio, the team isn't what we all hope, that extra year will get you a bigger return if Eloy has to be traded.- KW on Jimenez/Kopech
It's the way of the world. Everyone knows the rules. The fact is, as great as Eloy has been, he hasn't played a whole heck of a lot. It's obviously an excuse, but it's a reasonable excuse. Is Kris Bryant's relationship with the Cubs broken? Is Carlos Correa's with Houston? Or George Springer? Players take advantage of what they can take advantage, and teams do as well. Keeping Eloy down while unprecedented for the White Sox, isn't an unprecedented move in MLB. I'm sure his agent has let him know the exact scoop.- KW on Jimenez/Kopech
He's doing great. I'm not arguing that. Whether it's sustainable....I would bet his numbers drop a bit if you give him 100 more ABs, and if they don't, great. The Sox will have this guy an extra season by having him spend an extra month and a half in Charlotte. To me, 7 years from now, that will be the best trade Rick Hahn made for that season.- KW on Jimenez/Kopech
