  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) When your team is going as the Sox have been the past few years all the negative things that happen sting a bit more. All the times stuff doesnt go our way, even if its small in the grand scheme, makes us feel more defeated than we probably should. This is just like everything else that has taken place recently with the Sox, its AWFUL timing. They definitely have the bad timing down to a science at this point, true experts in bad timing. What is the bad timing? It was announced in August that November 1 the name change takes place. When were they supposed to announce it, and why would anyone be embarrassed? You must embarrass easily. I could probably follow everyone around for an hour, and someone could do the same with me, and find several things you should probably be more embarrassed about than a name or an arrow on the ballpark of the team you follow. It's not like US Cellular Field was a classic. They aren't even in the Chicago market anymore.
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Not sure that you got a straight answer to this. So the problem is that you associate a big red downward-pointing arrow with negativity, poor performance, something moving in the wrong direction. It's like a signal that says "Do Not Approach." Then you factor in that the team has already been associated with those things for a few years. Then you plaster that arrow all over the stadium. It's just a bad look. It's not the end of the world, but it is insulting. I could buy that if it was the White Sox emblem, but it's not. And everyone knows it. There are downward pointing arrows all over the place. Order food here, pick up here, downward arrow. No one thinks twice.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) I think you are way too sure of this. Trayce was worth less than half a WAR when he broke his back. Micah struggled in AAA, and Frankie pitched about 4 innings this year with rib ailments, and still has a troublesome knee. If the Sox had kept all 3, they would have been called idiots for not trading them when they had more value.
  4. This is so horrible. An arrow pointed down on a board that faces the Dan Ryan. How can we cope? How much more can we take? .
  5. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) So apparently the Michael Sneed Chicago Sun-Times column last month regarding the possibility of changing the logo wasn't true: http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/sneed...row-adjustment/ The Curbed Chicago website today has a quote from Linda Marsicano, Guaranteed Rate's VP of Public Relations: http://chicago.curbed.com/2016/10/31/13477...-cellular-field . I guess the Sox wanted them to make the arrow home plate. It would be very similar, but they said no. People will get over it.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Partially because Trayce had an incomplete season so his WAR would be lower. We may have sold at right time, that we received the right piece is again questionable. If the White Sox offered Trayce, Micah, and Frankie in a package this offseason, they would get nothing close to Todd Frazier.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Every time I've seen him he's been a strong defender, I don't know what happened in 2016, could have been part of the injuries (I didn't follow him closely enough) but I also hesitate to take partial year defensive stats like that because you're never supposed to do that. He made a couple of bad plays for the White Sox, but looked decent for sure. He also hit .169 his last 142 PA. They sold him at the right time.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) A .700 OPS from TT with strong defense in CF would be just about as valuable to this team as adding Cespedes to RF, if he could do that for the bulk of a season and stay healthy. You keep Eaton in RF and you suddenly have OF defense as one of your team's strengths. I wouldn't have guessed he could do that with the bat before breaking into the big leagues, I'm less certain he can't now. Kevin Pillar put up a .679 OPS this year in CF and was a 3.4 fWAR player. Why is Pillar's WAR a factor here and not Trayce's 0.4? The fact is Trayce was bad defensively in 2016. Why should anyone assume he will be stellar?
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) In no sense was Trayce sold high. The trade would have been defensible IF the Sox were in a position to win AND they didn't have a gaping hole at CF and pitching depth, particularly in the pen (of course those weaknesses, exacerbated by the trade, are a large reason why the Sox weren't in a position to win). A savvy trade of Sale plus another year of quality development by the young pitchers, and the Sox could be ready in 2018. But the usual out of Hahn will yield the usual results. Really? You think he is worth more now with a bad back ? Besides you told us that the Sox needed to be building around Trayce, not waiting for his trade value to peak, which it may have.
  10. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 07:12 AM) I've read where he had numerous types of drugs in his body when he died. What does that say for MLB drug testing? They only test for PEDs.
  11. Maddon had the Cubs come in at 5:30 today. No BP. It will be interesting to see how this games unfolds. Francona can manage it straight. Maddon is going to have to have a quicker hook , etc. unless the Cubs get a quick decent lead.
  12. If the Cubs came back, it would match the Tribes longest losing streak of the season.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 01:36 AM) Why are so many people (not saying you) unwilling to simply write off Hillary? My gosh how many smoking guns do you want? The woman is corrupt as corrupt can be. Keep her the heck out of the Oval Office. When she gets elected, boy oh boy she's going to get a lot done during her first two years when the government will be putting her on trial. I get the feeling even if the Republicans had a normal candidate, people would still want Hillary. It baffles the s*** out of me. Oh well, let's elect her and get it over with an impeach her as soon as possible. probably in 15 months I'd say. Why is this a smoking gun? They went through her emails and no charges. Now there are some emails on another computer. Chances are, they are emails they have already seen. The fact is, this new "evidence" of Hillary's guilt, hasn't even been looked at. The emails just exist at this point and haven't been read by the Feds. And what is the intent here? Is Hillary a traitor? If anyone is a traitor it is Trump who actually encouraged Russia to hack emails. He should be in jail.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) I can't help it that sox fans are shook by da cubs. if this were the dodgers and i say the exact same thing, nobody would say a word. the cubs are in sox fans heads on this board (not OGs like quinarvy, kyyle or jason). but the rest of yall? pathetic. Seems the one who is shook is you. Down 3-1, something the last 10 teams in the WS could not come back from, and you are the one saying they are in perfect position, they can't lose. When are you going to tell us we are lucky to be alive to see the greatest talent ever assembled on one team?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) Whatever. Win a home game. That's all the best team in baseball by far has to do. Get it back to Cleveland and it will be like when the Aliens stole noot and sigorney weaver went HAM on that ass. Just watch, folks. No, I don't want it to happen. But the Cubs will win a a WS. and it's gonna happen this year. Yeah, the Cubs have the Tribe exactly where they want him. no way they will lose with Lester, Arrietta, and Hendricks pitching, even if they lost 2 of the 3 games they have pitched so far. You must be as drunk as those people at Waveland and Sheffield.
  16. Somebody needs to tell the drunk Cubs fans by the Fox set that they lost and are down 3-1.
  17. Francona can manage differently in the playoffs never having to play more than 3 days in a row. With Miller, like the 2005 White Sox, they have the lead in the 5th, the game is basically over
  18. Cocaine was big in the 80s and early 90s. It seems to be making a comeback. Non crack that is.
  19. The problem with bringing Avi to spring training is can you really trust he is "fixed" if he lights up pitchers working on getting ready for the season? I think he is a non tender almost for sure. Maybe they bring him back for a lower figure.
  20. These emails have most probably already have been examined from the other end. I did hear an African American in the gym today on his phone saying he would now not vote for Hillary. But I can understand. According to some tracker, there is some sort of falsehood in 27% of what Hillary claims. Of course Bernie Sanders was at 28%, and Trump, the guy who accuses everyone of lying lies 71% of the time.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) I was invited to a bbq/cubs party tonight at my condo near Belmont and Sheffield. He has a roof deck where you can see Wrigley Field. Not sure if I want to deal with that tonight. Kluber pitching for a 3-1 lead. Cubs fans on a roof. Not a good mix. I think I would pass.
  22. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Heh what happened? They went to the Fox post game show and the Cubs fans were going nuts around the set like they just won.
  23. Trump is right, the election is rigged. They just busted a woman in Iowa for voting twice. She is a Teump supporter and voted twice because she knew her first vote was going to be changed to Hillary.
  24. Apparently Cubs fans are so drunk they didn't realize Cleveland won.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) YEah Tilson was who I was asking about. I think it was a torn hammy.
