QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:01 AM) Florida and the Rust Belt (Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) were the only states that mattered in this election. How is the electoral college different than a popular vote then? In a true popular vote, a Republican vote in Manhattan matters the same as a Democrat vote in Alabama. More importantly, elections would swing on national issues rather than on regional issues. Television would love it. It would all depend on California.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) 52% of white women voted for Trump 26% of Latino women voted for Trump I'll say it again, but women just despise Hillary for some reason There has been an anti Clinton agenda since 1992. It finally paid off. As to Latino women, I actually work with one who told me a couple of months ago she was voting for Trump because she loved The Apprentice.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 06:40 AM) This is what the Democratic party believed and this is why they lost. The results pretty clearly say that. The good news is they elected someone who knows more about ISIS than any General, so ISIS will be wiped out quickly. Knows more about taxes than anyone in the history of the world, so no one will have to pay taxes. People who are on Obamacare will have that replaced with something terrific. We all will be winning so much we will get sick of winning. I fell asleep last night but awoke to his speech where he told everyone all their dreams would come true. What's going to happen when all these rurals with 3 teeth and a front seat of a '75 Chevy on their front porch, lives don't change like they think? I really believe there are millions that think they just won the lottery. They won't be able to blame Obama anymore, but I'm sure they will. To borrow one of Trump's favorite words, frankly, I don't think a candidate could have tried to lose, would have done as much as what Trump did, to hurt his chances, and have the information that came out. Hillary messed up. The Dems most likely messed up nominating Hillary, because the years and years and years of hating the Clintons because they were successful in the White House, finally paid off for the right. The problem is, they are kind of screwed too. A lot of them don't want this guy around either.

Why haven't they called Florida?

QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) WHAT IS HAPPENING The Mexicans are gassing up their concrete trucks and getting ready to build a gigantic wall.

Hillary is starting to look f***ed, as are we all.

The domino that could catapult the white sox into a fire sale

QUOTE (Username @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Dan Hayes on Twitter: "Can't say definitively, bc Rick Hahn qualified everything w/ "regardless of which direction" taken -- but all signs say #WhiteSox will sell." I tried to tell everyone Ricky pretty much said that to season ticketholders in August. Obviously he just won't sell everyone regardless of the bid. Teams are going to have to meet a price, but if they do, they are rebuilding. -
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) Coulter Says Trump Wins Easily If Only People with 4 American-Born Grandparents Vote This is funny because neither Trump nor his kids meet this criteria, and almost all black Americans do, and probably a lot more Mexicans than she thinks. Yes. You could run for President. You just couldn't vote for President. That's another one I just wish would go away, and for the most part she has.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Speaking of Clark, Democrats had already built a fairly large firewall there through early voting and turnout there today is looking very, very strong as well. Regardless of this silly lawsuit, NV looks fairly safe for both President and Senate for the Democrats at this point. For President, if NV's gone, Trump has very limited paths and needs to run the table on the rest of the swing states while picking up a surprise like MI or something. Just kick his ass in every state, so he can sue all 50 of them.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) The lawsuit only names precincts that are majority minority. No need to the other way. Republicans play by the rules. Democrats cheat. This election is rigged. Trump is so great, he may win anyway.
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) FWIW, they're suing to keep those ballots they feel were cast after 7pm separate from other ballots in case there is a legitimate gripe. Given that Nevada is a close race, that seems like a prudent move on his campaign's part. Trump has said get out and vote, yet when people do just that, he sues. If you are in line when the polls close, do you not think you should be able to vote, or does it totally depend on who you are voting for?

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) So, this happened. https://www.google.com/amp/www.theverge.com...ie-new-york-law SMH Lock him up, lock him up!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) Trump's filed his first election lawsuit already. In no way are they trying to suppress the vote.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) A few pages back someone said Trump was lying about that Belichick letter. But it looks to me like the reports say it's true. http://thebiglead.com/2016/11/08/bill-beli...ump-per-report/ No one wrote Trump was lying about the Belichick letter. There was question about Brady because his wife did say they weren't backing Trump. But I don't think even Trump would lie about that, so I imagine Brady did vote for him.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) At least it prevents the panic of how much you need to color in the arrows. I know I only need a line but I end up doing a 1 hour coloring session every time. I almost walked out with one of the markers. The lady yelled. I thought I was going to be taken down.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Interesting Tweet from Ruffini which makes sense. Takes a long time for voters to go through: https://twitter.com/PatrickRuffini/status/796008708815917062 Probably 90% of my ballot was judge retention.

Anyone ever watch The Circus on Showtime about the election? The last one was interesting. They had 4 guys that used to be campaign advisors discussing some things for a little bit. One guy used to write speeches for McGovern when he was younger. He was told the day before he had to deliver the news to McGovern that he wasn't going to win. When he did, McGovern told him he already knew that, and knew it for a while, but he had to fake it one more day. Apparently the last couple weeks of the campaign, his rallies were drawing huge crowds. They made it seem like someone is going to have to have the same conversation with Trump, and no one thought he was going to not become unhinged.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) well, for certain there is so much vote rigging going on right now. Seems like everyone is seeing it and Limbaugh is talking about it. Give it to the Clintons now and forever the end Rush and his kind already had their scripts for today's show written months ago.

Before this campaign, I never liked Trump. I thought he was pompous obviously. I just never realized was a despicable human being he is. I just hope he gets trounced today.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) My polling spot opened at 6 AM, I got there at about 6:15, and I was out just after 7. Not too bad. I voted NO on the roads amendment because I read that it was lobbied onto the ballot and promoted by construction companies, and that it would hamstring the Illinois budget even further. Don't think that's what we need right now. Not a discussion for the Presidential Election thread though, so I digress. Mine opened at 6. Got there 5 minutes before it opened and I was about 50th in line. There are 2 wards that vote at my location, and they split it into 2 lines once you get in the church. Probably 45 of the 50 people in front of me lived in the other ward, which is separated by whether you are north or south of a street, so I voted by 6;10, but there was an issue with the machine you put your ballots in. It wasn't registering the votes. So I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to fix it. Still not too bad.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I had looked at my sample ballot maybe 3-4 times, but today I voted and out of nowhere there was a ballot measure from Oak Park proposing updating the language of the 2nd amendment (the federal constitution's 2nd amendment) to allow congress to regulate the use of firearms. It was very bizarre. One, I have NO idea what power that even holds, like...what does that do next? But obviously I voted for it since I am soxtalk's only poster in favor of changing the 2nd amendment (and perhaps I hallucinated the question?). It's a non issue. Hillary is getting rid of the second amendment. Trump said so. He doesn't lie. Straight shooter.

QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) As a longstanding white sox fan I have seen this many times. I was once told at Target after experiencing the same thing "no white sox hats" and I quote we reserve the right to carry any team merchandise we feel like." Go on line. Fanatics usually has free shipping and tons of stuff.
