  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) I don't think this strategy would work during the regular season compared to the playoffs. Exactly. The most days you play in a row in the playoffs is 3. You can't use Miller like he was used or he would be done by May. You could modify it a bit. Keith Foulke, before he was the White Sox closer, pitched a lot of innings in middle relief. I think he had over 100 on year, and had more strikeouts than most of the starters. But that was a losing team, which probably kept his appearances down.
  2. They had to put it on snapchat and ruin this kind of thing for everyone in the futur. Assholes.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) Again, these are teenagers. I won't speak for them but they wouldn't be outraged like Americans that's for sure. Then why are they being charged in the DR? It happened there.
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Why are Bears fans still being delusional about this being a quick rebuild? I seriously can't believe all of the comments from Bears fans about Pace, Fox, etc, we all knew this team was in terrible shape when they took over. It's only year 2 and we've had some good young players show up, definitely still have some holes but one point of sucking is to get better draft picks to fill those holes. I get that it sucks to lose but damn, this franchise was on a steep slope downwards, it's going to take time to right it and be good again. Turnover is so big, fast rebuilds have to happen. Guys get expensive, careers are short, injuries occur . If the Bears are terrible again next year, which is a very real possibility if they have no QB, a few of the building blocks will be heading downward or out of town, and new ones will have to be acquired. I doubt John Fox would have taken the job if they told him they weren't shooting for the playoffs for at least 3 seasons.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) A lot of people are willing to make some amount of sacrifice to the bottom line if they know they can get stability and favorable work conditions. We don't necessarily know how much of a sacrifice Frazier is willing to make (or what he thinks the "true value" he'd be giving a discount from is) nor do we know just how much he sees the White Sox as a place that he'd love to be rather than trying something new. Yes. Free agency freaks some guys out. I don't know if it would Frazier, but he certainly was up for an extension with the Reds, and appears gung ho to sign one now. But like you said just how much he is willing to potentially sacrifice is unknown. He probably already has all the money he will ever need, as do a lot of these guys, so a few million here, a few million there, might not matter to some, but you really can't blame them if they want to max out.
  6. I think this is probably worse than cutting up jerseys. These guys are going to be so heckled the rest of their careers.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Link Nice too bad it didn't happen. Samrdzija certainly wasn't on the radio hoping for an extension either. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/03/no-e...samardzija.html http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/samardz...-its-difficult/ The last quote in the second link tells you all you need to know. Quite different from what Frazier is saying.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) 'we listen to offers on everyone' is a team's way of making it seem everyone is treated and valued equally. Feathers dont get ruffled / roster harmony. And it is also the truth. The longer term guys are available if the offer is great enough.
  9. Yet another win. Trump paid back Kentucky for voting for him by saving some Ford jobs that weren't going to be lost. We are going to win so much, we will be sick of winning, believe me. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/polit...osing.html?_r=0
  10. Here is a Rick Hahn quote that contradicts the thread title. He really would have no reason to lie. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/208...chable-players/
  11. So the proof that they will not trade Q under any circumstance is a team that talked to them and Q 's name didn't come up? If that team was interested in Q why didn't they bring him up?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) $2 million a year for the next two years is nothing honestly. He will clear waivers. They could always sign him then, but he is awful now.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) Samardzija was more than happy to talk an extension as long as the White Sox were willing to put a 9 figure deal on the table. We had a ton of threads about that. Frazier is no different. He'd be thrilled if Cinci or Chicago would extend him 2-3 years before he hits FA because he's going to be 31 going to 32 when he hits FA. Get the contract signed and put $90 million in the bank and he'll be happy, I'm quite sure. Samardzija was pretty adamant he was going to be a free agent,
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) The Sox have to claim him if he makes it this far, no? He is owed $4-5 million, and hit .202 in AAA.
  15. So if the White Sox traded Sale and Frazier and Melky and Abreu and Robertson and few others but kept Quintana, Eaton and Jones, they would be half assing a rebuild. That cracks me up. BTW, Hahn has said 100 times there are no untouchables. The longer term guys are available if the price is right.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) "I never settle" But he didn't admit guilt. Another huge win over that lightweight AG..
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) Nope. I advocated trading Eaton last winter to fill 2 holes. That's still a possible approach. I've never favored the Hahn proven veteran approach, however. So if the choice is Hahn ball or tear down I would favor complete tear down, because Hahn ball is a failure. Bregman is my favorite of all of these top prospect already in the majors possible, although unlikely, targets. Actually, you said Eaton was overrated, that's why he had to go. Not as good as his numbers. You were correct. He was better.
  18. In 104 AB vs. LHP, Reddick hit .155 with no extra base hits. He's happy the league is mostly right handed.
  19. This pretty much confirms a White Sox rebuild. They have loved McCann and would have topped that return if they were going for it.
  20. We all know the Sox have little depth. It would be shocking if they lost a stud in the rule 5 draft. Too many worlds would have to collide.
  21. I think if he gets traded the Dodgers have to be the favorite. They need him the most, although I could see Friedman go after Archer instead. If not LA, I am going with Houston. Houston is 100% analytics, and Sale's are great. They would pay up IMO.
  22. Liriano made it through the NL and and 4 AL teams on waivers. I would imagine he would be protected, but not doing so probably doesn't get a team to pay money to claim him.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) I actually think there's a chance that Smith, Liriano, and Garcia would be get claimed. Yes, but would you really care? The chances of these guys being impact players is beyond small. They won't get you anything in a trade, and are easy to replace with something similar, especially if they are rebuilding.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) What you don't realize is you just made a convincing case that he was worse than I thought. You've now also given me reason to think that a slight dropoff in those other innings could leave him dropping from acceptable to terrible. It is amazing what lengths you will go to just to not admit your exaggerations are just wrong.
