QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) Dick, you're a smart poster and know the answer here. Eaton is at peak value, while Rodon & Anderson could significantly improve their value if they take that next step. You obviously need to be blown away, but there is definitely logic in moving Eaton if the right offer comes along. You'd probably have to get a decent major league piece back in the deal, because we're talking about a guy who could provide $150M to $200M in surplus value over the five years of his contract. If a rebuild is successful and in 2 or 3 seasons the Sox can compete, he is still a bargain for multiple years. Again, a top 10 in MLB Position player WAR, and it isn't like he is due to regress. Trading 6 WAR players who aren't about to become free agents, or who don't make a huge amount of money, and hoping you get back a similar player is for fools. 5 seasons from now Adam Eaton will still be paid $2 million less than what a 44 year old Bartolo Colon just signed for. Trading him would be making a trade just to make a trade. It would most likely look stupid in the end. All things considered, he actually is probably more valuable than Sale
-
Adam Eaton is a 6WAR player with 5 years of control for $38 million. Over the last season and a half, he has been one of the top 10 position players in baseball. Why would the Sox trade him? If you are trading him why not Rodon? Why not Anderson?

The conflict of interest thing is starting to become yuge.

Baseball busted for PEDs, tarred and feathered. Football busted for PEDs, see you in 4 weeks.
-
I don't know if Ozzie JR. Has solid info or he is just playing games, but the Guillens do know a lot of people, so it wouldn't surprise me he has info.
-
Th Dodgers really need Sale the most. Maybe the Sox will get Trace back.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) Other than that Rob Hill guy (who is he?), I haven't seen it confirmed. Don't doubt it is in the works, but still seems odd. He looks like a HS kid, and I am sure his source was whitesoxdave
-
I would imagine yesterday's effort coming off a bye seals Fox's fate. I would be shocked if he came back next year.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) I think it is far from official with no word from the Sox. Perhaps they've alerted him that they plan to move on, although that would seem like a dumb move as it takes away any degree of leverage they had in trade talks. I thought someone had something since the title of the thread changed.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) Do we know that Saladino is healthy? I imagine the White Sox know. But he seems to get injured more than most.
-
If this is pretty much official, it is the first domino in a rebuild. It isn't like Lawrie was due a ton of money. It isn't like Saldino has been the picture of health during his career and is actually older than him. I liked his energy, and power. everything considered, it probably isn't a huge loss because he had the one year anyway. But I don't think I would have punted.
-
He was put in orthotics this year according to his Twitter. He says that although his feet felt fine, the orthotics were th reason for his injury. I have the flatest feet in the world, and orthotics have been a godsend for me, but if you don't really need them, they can mess you up.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Don't let lost see this post. He might end up defending him again. When he isn't turning the ball over he is top of the line..

Cutty with 2 INTs and 2 fumbles. All the talent in the world, but turnovers are what makes him mediocre.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 08:21 AM) It's not that they're clueless, it's pretty much the opposite. They know they can raise ticket prices by 7% and not lose a ton of accounts (at least not yet). The problem I have is with the reasoning. IMO, it feels like they know a rebuilding is going bring down attendance so they might as well maximize their fixed revenue by price gauging their most loyal customers. I think that fans like you deserve better, but to each their own. The reality is the average ticket price for the 2016 White Sox was 25% less than it was for the 2008 White Sox. So you still aren't going to have to pay anything near what you would have 8 years ago.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) I think it's pretty obvious that he's gone, given he removed all the White Sox related stuff (picture, bio) from his account. I would think so. I looked at his Twitter when the thread was created, and after WSD mentioned the non tender possibility. He still had Southside 2B on there, so it isn't like the rumor came from that removal.Maybe just a coincidence, but it would be quite a coincidence.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) They get what the market can bear. That they are raising prices this much after the last few years is just another data point that this ownership group is absolutely clueless. There's a reason the Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees etc charge what they do. Demand. I don't see much demand for Sox tickets, do you? Well, so far everyone who has season tickets discussing this increase is renewing. So why would ownership be clueless?
-
It is still weird. The 40 man is at 38 right now, so that really shouldn't be an issue. The non tender deadline is 3 weeks away. What if Saladino or whoever you want playing second encounters a physical issue between now and then? His arb number is $5.1 million supposedly. He was over a 1 WAR in 94 games last year, so there is very little chance he won't earn his keep. If you are rebuilding, maybe he gets really hot and you flip him.I suppose the argument against is it isn't like the Sox gave up a boatload to get him when he was cheaper and had more control, and wasn't as big of physical question mark. Perhaps his injury hasn't healed, and he needs surgery or something. Or maybe they just wanted to do him a solid and let him get on the market sooner. Or maybe it is nothing at all. Journey continues, led in wrong direction. It is kind of weird. Maybe they misdiagnosed his injury. You would think with all the response on his Twitter, if it was nothing he would respond.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 05:30 AM) Michigan hadn't played a real road game all season and it got em. that loss most likely took Ohio state out of the conference title game should they win out. You had one job Harbaugh. Dick Piss off Michigan and Ohio State in one game.....priceless. -
The deadline to tender contracts is December 2nd. Seems weird that he would be non tendered now.

QUOTE (palehose1 @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) when you have seats go from a little over $50 per game per ticket to $54 that's significant. Our invoice went up like $1200. I don't mind paying that when they put out a good product but these last few years have been awful. If I cant make a game and have to sell n Stubhub I usually take a loss. I'm sure if someone did a study of the Cubs or other big market teams the resale value % is much higher, the Sox have to be near the bottom the league in resale value. Of course we could always cancel our plan but we wont, just too loyal to the team and its part of my summers for many years. It just doesn't seem like great timing to raise product prices 7% when you are having quality issues. You wouldn't like Cubs prices. And they will certainly rise.Well over double what you are paying for a comparable seat, and when they were losing before last year, resellers were taking quite a bath, losing more than if you just ate them. While 1200 is significant, if you were willing to pay $50 a seat, $54 really isn't a big deal, although I am curious why they didn't address it. That seems a bit strange for them. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2015/11/13/...rmation-pricing The problem you have is your seats are too good. They would have no problem finding someone to take them if you gave them up. I have been around since the final season at the old park and skipping a season after my friends death. Our first year we had upper deck boxes and they were pretty far down the line. They would now be classified upper deck reserved,a don ironically are about the same price they were when the park opened. We eventually made our way to premium club level, and those we loved. They used to always jack up the prices $1 a ticket every year for a while, but seemed to stop that 5 or 6 years ago.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) So you're getting nothing new and receiving a 7% price increase. I get it's only 2% effectively with the 5% discount, but you earned that by using all your tickets and spending $8.75 a beer and $9.00 a hot dog at those 27 games. I think you should be pissed about that because you are an incredibly loyal fan who commits a lot of time and energy to this team. I won't argue that you're still not receiving a ton of value with your particular package, but I don't like the messaging this price increase sends on the cusp of a rebuild. And for full season tickets holders in the lower bowl, 7% is a big chunk of money. Well you really don't have to spend any money on food and drink if you don't want to. White Sox tickets at one time were among the highest priced in baseball. They are below average right now. They haven't raised prices except some were raised and some were lowered when they split the premium lower box into 3 tiers since 2012. I would rather they not increase it, but it is understandable they would eventually. a poster here says his went down, so right now it appears only selected seats have increased. We will see. The thing is, if I don't like it I can always say no. I did rail on the White Sox in 2009 for raising ticket prices and lowering payroll, but I was upset because they had my non refundable playoff money, and it is a scenario you really cannot say no. I used to have full season premium club for many years until my friend I shared them with was in an accident and died. So I cut back to this and get my wife to go. It really is a great deal, and if you know what you are doing, can sit just about anywhere you want. The other thing is, they have no problem selling their best seats. You can't get tickets from them in the first 10 rows of the infield. if someone bails, they will fill them with established ticket holders.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Are the two free games and two parties new this year? You didn't get those last season? No, I received those last year. My package cost $297 a ticket last year for all Weekend games and 1 Cubs. Even on groupon the lower eserved with patio is at least $50, so 2 of those, a season ticket holder party before the season and during the season with free food and drink. Plus they give you discounts up to 5 % on next season determined by the percentage of your tickets that were used. Can you name another MLB team I can get anywhere close to that?
-
QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 07:30 AM) That's BULL$H!T!!! Do you know what I could do with $14?? It really is horrible. We need to set up protests. Almost $7 a ticket total for 27 games. They are out of their minds.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) You really are one of kind. If they're actually going to rebuild and raised season ticket prices by 7%, then you should absolutely be pissed. That's so f***ing ridiculous I'm not sure how anyone could defend them. I think they raised the prices on the cheapest of the cheap,a nod maybe some others but not all. Someone here already said his went down. Probably has something downstairs. I have upper deck reserved. This " increase" will cost me about $14 total for 2 seats with my discount. So about 25 cents a game. They also threw in 2 free games with patio party, and 2 other parties. The bastards.
