  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) The debt problem was the $400+ million load/service they started the acquisition with...although losing $166 million the last three years hasn't helped. Sale and Frazier with Urias and Puig and prospects coming back still makes sense. Or Nate Jones, even moreso. You have told us time and time again Nate Jones is terrible, even as a supposed White Sox fan, hoping he would fail miserably in a closer role in 2017. If he is so bad, why would any team give up anything of significance to acquire him?
  2. If Trump really thinks there was that much fraud, he should welcome a recount. It will show all the losers who didn't vote for him, what a dominant win he had.
  3. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) WTF If Donald Trump really thinks MILLIONS of illegal votes happened in this election, he better be calling for massive investigations. And not one of the millions were for him.
  4. You don't see that many drops when you watch 8 year olds playing flag football. And it isn't like Barkley is throwing 100 MPH fastballs.
  5. Barkley sucks so bad. At least he is bad enough they won't consider him an option moving forward. Pace is on the clock. He doesn't come up with a serviceable QB, he has to be held accountable. There is no excuse for not drafting one the last couple of years.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) Disagree. There was a missed PI in OSUs favor and an awful hold in OT that wasn't called that resulted in a Michigan TD. The 4th and 1 was clearly a first down in every angle. Referee told you it wasn't clearly a first down on every angle. It was not confirmed, it just stood. If they ruled him short, it would have stood. There really was no good angle on TV. You would need a camera right at the spot and even then might not be able to tell. I don't think Michigan has a legit argument they were screwed there, but it just was another call they didn't have go their way. The PI they called on Michigan was no more egregious than the one the didn't call against OSU in OT, and it happened on an uncatchable ball after the ball had gone by. 2 penalties for 6 yards is pretty fortunate.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) There were missed calls the entire game. Watch one replay of Michigan OL. Don't turtle in the second half and you win. Playing scared on the road is stupid. That's exactly why Michigan lost 2 of their 3 road games OSU got the benefit of every call late. There is no doubt about that. I will not say the officiating cost Michigan the win, I think the INTs did. It didn't help. I don't know if they fine college coaches, but whatever they do, Harbaugh let the refs have it postgame. There has to be some sort of penalty. Said they penalized him 15 years for throwing his script towards his bench. He asked why, the ref told him it is a penalty in basketball. Bo used to get unsportsmanlike all the time, but usually for yelling and throwing his headset on the field.
  8. The no PI call in OT was weak especially since they called the exact same think against Michigan during regulation. Whether they would have scored a TD or not, no one knows, it was a nice spot for OSU on the 4th down play. It was really close. If they said short, that would have held up with replay. It wa a sweet game. I just assumed OSU had a better offense. I thought they would roll. Bad turnovers didn't help Harbaugh.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Epstein offered Samardzija about 1/2 of what he offered Lester. If he wasn't supposed to be a top of the rotation starter (obviously behind Sale, but still a front end guy), why did they trade for 1 year of his services? The Giants and Cubs accurately saw him as a middle guy (and to be fair, that may be generous). Samardzija was doing the best pitching of his career when Theo moved him....he took advantage and sold high. Hahn? The Giants and the Cubs both offered more money to him than Hahn, why is it you insist Hahn thinks he is an ace and the others think he is a middle guy? The Sox have an ace, and had one before Samardzija was acquired. So keep telling us your BS, but the facts as usual don't match up with your posts.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) He's been fortunate to work with orgs that can absorb some spending miscues and to allow him to hire a talented and deep staff. And they don't win the WS without Lester and Zobrist. And he's also been smart as to who to let go to free agency....Samardzija. He correctly evaluated him as not an ace. The dichotomy between Epstein and Hahn re Samardzija really encapsulates the difference between the two front offices. Epstein has also been impeccable in his trades and evaluation of his own players. A strong staff helps. Hahn could use one of those. He offered Samrdzija $85 million. Perhaps not ace money in today's environment, but more than Anything Hahn may have offered. And he wasn't supposed to be an ace on the White Sox, they already had one, so your point appears way off. He signed for $90 million with the Giants, so Theo was pretty close, closer than Hahn. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/6/18/5822630/...fer-rumors-cubs
  11. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) I hopefully the game transitions more to this. The constant pitching changes for every matchup gets to be a bit much to watch sometimes. That and it's probably just more effective instead of trying to get by by using 3 mediocre guys in the 6th and 7th Jones at closer and use Burdi and Fulmer in this type of role. Would be able to keep 1 fresh and really shorten the game. It won't, except for the playoffs. Pitchers have to be conditioned for it. And it would have to be league wide with all the player movement. Once they turned it more specialized, they pretty much are stuck with it unless every team is on board with change. Several years ago the Rangers were going to go with 4 man rotations in their minor leagues. I don't think it lasted very long.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) I don't think this strategy would work during the regular season compared to the playoffs. Exactly. The most days you play in a row in the playoffs is 3. You can't use Miller like he was used or he would be done by May. You could modify it a bit. Keith Foulke, before he was the White Sox closer, pitched a lot of innings in middle relief. I think he had over 100 on year, and had more strikeouts than most of the starters. But that was a losing team, which probably kept his appearances down.
  13. They had to put it on snapchat and ruin this kind of thing for everyone in the futur. Assholes.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) Again, these are teenagers. I won't speak for them but they wouldn't be outraged like Americans that's for sure. Then why are they being charged in the DR? It happened there.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Why are Bears fans still being delusional about this being a quick rebuild? I seriously can't believe all of the comments from Bears fans about Pace, Fox, etc, we all knew this team was in terrible shape when they took over. It's only year 2 and we've had some good young players show up, definitely still have some holes but one point of sucking is to get better draft picks to fill those holes. I get that it sucks to lose but damn, this franchise was on a steep slope downwards, it's going to take time to right it and be good again. Turnover is so big, fast rebuilds have to happen. Guys get expensive, careers are short, injuries occur . If the Bears are terrible again next year, which is a very real possibility if they have no QB, a few of the building blocks will be heading downward or out of town, and new ones will have to be acquired. I doubt John Fox would have taken the job if they told him they weren't shooting for the playoffs for at least 3 seasons.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) A lot of people are willing to make some amount of sacrifice to the bottom line if they know they can get stability and favorable work conditions. We don't necessarily know how much of a sacrifice Frazier is willing to make (or what he thinks the "true value" he'd be giving a discount from is) nor do we know just how much he sees the White Sox as a place that he'd love to be rather than trying something new. Yes. Free agency freaks some guys out. I don't know if it would Frazier, but he certainly was up for an extension with the Reds, and appears gung ho to sign one now. But like you said just how much he is willing to potentially sacrifice is unknown. He probably already has all the money he will ever need, as do a lot of these guys, so a few million here, a few million there, might not matter to some, but you really can't blame them if they want to max out.
  17. I think this is probably worse than cutting up jerseys. These guys are going to be so heckled the rest of their careers.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Link Nice too bad it didn't happen. Samrdzija certainly wasn't on the radio hoping for an extension either. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/03/no-e...samardzija.html http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/samardz...-its-difficult/ The last quote in the second link tells you all you need to know. Quite different from what Frazier is saying.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) 'we listen to offers on everyone' is a team's way of making it seem everyone is treated and valued equally. Feathers dont get ruffled / roster harmony. And it is also the truth. The longer term guys are available if the offer is great enough.
  20. Yet another win. Trump paid back Kentucky for voting for him by saving some Ford jobs that weren't going to be lost. We are going to win so much, we will be sick of winning, believe me. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/polit...osing.html?_r=0
  21. Here is a Rick Hahn quote that contradicts the thread title. He really would have no reason to lie. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/208...chable-players/
  22. So the proof that they will not trade Q under any circumstance is a team that talked to them and Q 's name didn't come up? If that team was interested in Q why didn't they bring him up?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) $2 million a year for the next two years is nothing honestly. He will clear waivers. They could always sign him then, but he is awful now.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) Samardzija was more than happy to talk an extension as long as the White Sox were willing to put a 9 figure deal on the table. We had a ton of threads about that. Frazier is no different. He'd be thrilled if Cinci or Chicago would extend him 2-3 years before he hits FA because he's going to be 31 going to 32 when he hits FA. Get the contract signed and put $90 million in the bank and he'll be happy, I'm quite sure. Samardzija was pretty adamant he was going to be a free agent,
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) The Sox have to claim him if he makes it this far, no? He is owed $4-5 million, and hit .202 in AAA.
