  1. QUOTE (chisox802 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) I don't like this at all. Rich Hill is the typical shi**y starter we never hit...... 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA lifetime vs. the Sox. Averages a walk and a strikeout an inning.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) He lives in St. Louis which makes it a lot easier. The thing that drives me nuts is when you're using a Comcast TV in Chicago they will have the score and local news on a ticker of sorts. Not cool. My troubles with it have nothing to do with location. If I could not watch until midnight, I would cave in and check the score to see if it was worth my time staying up. Plus he has access to the internet. That score is a couple of clicks away at all times. I cave every time. It's a good thing my addiction is baseball or I really would be a mess.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) i feel stupid here but who is their golden boy??? Coach Hoiberg.
  4. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Can't decide whether to keep up while at work or try to ignore and watch it when I get off at midnight. Maybe you are different from me, but every time I couldn't watch a game and recorded it, no matter how well I planned, it never worked out.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Shameless is still so good. Characters to invest in and feel for no matter how crappy they are sometimes. Except Frank. F him. I used to really like it, but it's getting to be too much for me. Everyone is a loser. 3 seasons ago, Frank was hysterical, 2 seasons ago Kev was hilarious, last season, Mickey was great to watch. I found this season to be off a bit. Too depressing. Fiona is a whore, Lip is an alcoholic, Ian has a ton of problems, Deb a 15 year old mother (I thought they spend way too much time on her) Carl a juvenile delinquent. Frank is Frank. Kev and his wife are whacked out as is the Russian girl. There isn't one character with any class. Can't they just have one ? Even every small part, the characters are classless with a ton of problems.
  6. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) I really dont understand the thinking of having Avila 9th It's like batting the pitcher ninth.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Want to just point out, with the backs against the wall, Butler has put up back to back spectacular performances. I still think the thought of moving him is delusional. His issues are more due to older vets being bothered by him establishing himself as the leader and when you look at how he puts in his work, how hard he plays, can you really argue? Hell, look at how much better of a passer he is. He's got to work more on this leadership part but it is going to be really interesting to see how things change this off-season. It seems to me Rose is better when Butler is out, and Butler is better when Rose is out.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) They both suck. America's obesity and diabetes problems start with these damned carbonated sugar drinks. Just say no. I do agree with obesity and diabetes problem . I read where the average American has almost doubled it's calorie intake from drinks the past 20 years. The small coke at McDonalds (I know, another poison factory) is the same size as the large coke in the 70s. Free refills etc. But in moderation, it does hit the spot. I do agree about the plastic bottles, but every once in a while a bottle or can of Coke is delightful.
  9. Probably has an opt out in a month or so.
  10. Coming in, this tournament looked pretty wide open set for a lot of excitement, but it has been one of the most boring I can remember.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) You seriously believe that Brad Stevens will be the best coach since John Wooden? Ha. No way. That is insane. He has to go something like 146-8 to catch Thibs. I was just pointing out why big name college coaches usually fail. No one succeeds with bad players.
  12. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) You never read the post but commented anyway. Saying the " new catcher combo is better offensively than last year's combo but worse defensively" had nothing to do w spring training. If Avila had a big spring, you never would have mentioned the catchers, and the defense, while you may be correct from the end of the season, from opening day to opening day, the defense is vastly improved. The better defense the Sox threw in during last season didn't seem to do much for the win column. Getting guys who can hit and play decent defense could be huge.
  13. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) Let the season begin before you put Avi in the Hall. And do the same with the guys who didn't have a brilliant spring training.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) What? Seriously? Yeah, that is pretty bizarre. The reason big name college coaches fail at the NBA level is because they are usually hired to coach horrible teams. Stevens was 25-57 his first year, and the Celtics have improved. Hoiberg was set up to fail. He was given the same injury plagued roster, and was replacing a competent coach.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) How are we worse defensively at catcher? I think we improved there. Soto and Flowers weren't exactly defensive stalwarts. The White Sox must have done something right this offseason if the complainers are down to Ishikawa and Flowers not being on the team. I really don't understand why a bad spring means players are now horrid, but all a good one does is means players are what they were. If you go by this spring meaning Latos will soon be released and Avial is horrible, wouldn't that also mean Avi may be a HOFer, and Saladino is on track to perhaps be the greatest White Sox SS of all time?
  16. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) But most likely the bottom line is money. Sands is dirt cheap and Loney, Murphy and even to a lesser degree Ishy would cost more. Maybe, but probably more of this isn't fantasy baseball Hahn is playing. These are human beings and things come into play. Maybe Murphy wants a guarantee of playing time. Maybe Shuck is big in the clubhouse. Maybe Hahn is holding out for a bigger prize.
  17. Is this official or just going by the website? The website has been incorrect for a couple of days. Although that Sands fan may have inside info. I just think it you are going by the 25 man roster on the website, it's wrong. They still have that minor league LHP on there.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Probably Melky since he wasn't good against lefties last season. Wouldn't Melky or Garcia just DH? It appears they will have a rotating DH for now.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) Not sure if this is someone close to the family, or what. Take it for what it's worth... https://twitter.com/darrell_alford/status/715969658516553730 That's what Dan Hayes thought all along.
  20. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Notes on Pizza: Beggars is good but expensive. The only time I eat is at the park because at least I expect to pay crazy prices at the Cell. Papa Johns offers pizza that is fundamentally identical to Little Ceasers at twice the price of Lil C's. There is no reason to order Papa Johns unless youre too intoxicated to pick it up There is a shop by my office. They do lay it on thick, so much so, I can get by easily with one slice. I probably venture over there once a year. It doesn't appear the slices at the park have it layed on as thick.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) NO one wants him $5 million bad. Otherwise the Orioles could have dealt him for something. Realistically we are talking about which team can offer him the best chance at winning a major league job. Looking at the teams on the list Oakland might be the one team that could offer him a major league job as their rotation is scary bad after Sonny Gray. I hope Oakland signs him and pitches him vs. the White Sox. That would be good for the ChiSox offense.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) If someone wants to offer him a rotation spot, we won't get him anyway. If they wanted him bad enough, they could claim him, pay him his $5 million and still send him to Charlotte if he has options left.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) Indiana looked awful last night as well, they lost by 20 to the Magic at home. When Myles Turner doesn't play well, they really struggle so long as you don't let their guards get out of hand. The NBA has a few really good teams, a couple of maybe all time elite teams, but it drops off to mediocre then horrible really fast.
  24. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Just realized, we never got the photo dump from the Sox of new food offerings at the park for this year. Guess there's nothing new then? There was something in the Tribune yesterday. There were like 4 new things. They all looked pretty good. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...otogallery.html
