  1. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) Let the season begin before you put Avi in the Hall. And do the same with the guys who didn't have a brilliant spring training.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) What? Seriously? Yeah, that is pretty bizarre. The reason big name college coaches fail at the NBA level is because they are usually hired to coach horrible teams. Stevens was 25-57 his first year, and the Celtics have improved. Hoiberg was set up to fail. He was given the same injury plagued roster, and was replacing a competent coach.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) How are we worse defensively at catcher? I think we improved there. Soto and Flowers weren't exactly defensive stalwarts. The White Sox must have done something right this offseason if the complainers are down to Ishikawa and Flowers not being on the team. I really don't understand why a bad spring means players are now horrid, but all a good one does is means players are what they were. If you go by this spring meaning Latos will soon be released and Avial is horrible, wouldn't that also mean Avi may be a HOFer, and Saladino is on track to perhaps be the greatest White Sox SS of all time?
  4. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) But most likely the bottom line is money. Sands is dirt cheap and Loney, Murphy and even to a lesser degree Ishy would cost more. Maybe, but probably more of this isn't fantasy baseball Hahn is playing. These are human beings and things come into play. Maybe Murphy wants a guarantee of playing time. Maybe Shuck is big in the clubhouse. Maybe Hahn is holding out for a bigger prize.
  5. Is this official or just going by the website? The website has been incorrect for a couple of days. Although that Sands fan may have inside info. I just think it you are going by the 25 man roster on the website, it's wrong. They still have that minor league LHP on there.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Probably Melky since he wasn't good against lefties last season. Wouldn't Melky or Garcia just DH? It appears they will have a rotating DH for now.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) Not sure if this is someone close to the family, or what. Take it for what it's worth... https://twitter.com/darrell_alford/status/715969658516553730 That's what Dan Hayes thought all along.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Notes on Pizza: Beggars is good but expensive. The only time I eat is at the park because at least I expect to pay crazy prices at the Cell. Papa Johns offers pizza that is fundamentally identical to Little Ceasers at twice the price of Lil C's. There is no reason to order Papa Johns unless youre too intoxicated to pick it up There is a shop by my office. They do lay it on thick, so much so, I can get by easily with one slice. I probably venture over there once a year. It doesn't appear the slices at the park have it layed on as thick.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) NO one wants him $5 million bad. Otherwise the Orioles could have dealt him for something. Realistically we are talking about which team can offer him the best chance at winning a major league job. Looking at the teams on the list Oakland might be the one team that could offer him a major league job as their rotation is scary bad after Sonny Gray. I hope Oakland signs him and pitches him vs. the White Sox. That would be good for the ChiSox offense.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) If someone wants to offer him a rotation spot, we won't get him anyway. If they wanted him bad enough, they could claim him, pay him his $5 million and still send him to Charlotte if he has options left.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) Indiana looked awful last night as well, they lost by 20 to the Magic at home. When Myles Turner doesn't play well, they really struggle so long as you don't let their guards get out of hand. The NBA has a few really good teams, a couple of maybe all time elite teams, but it drops off to mediocre then horrible really fast.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Just realized, we never got the photo dump from the Sox of new food offerings at the park for this year. Guess there's nothing new then? There was something in the Tribune yesterday. There were like 4 new things. They all looked pretty good. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...otogallery.html

  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Papa John had a huge market share increase in the Denver pizza business due to those obnoxious ads. Unfortunately. Was it that or the legalization of the ganga?
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) http://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/201...a/#436ecfe550d1 White Sox are listed on here. They better still have Beggars Pizza at the ballpark. That would be a travesty. They have the score 5 runs deal with Papa John's. Beggar's is still at the park. In fact, they built a Beggars Pizza Pub in left center field, similar to the XFinity Zone down the right field line. So Beggars is going to be there for a while.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I guess it'd be good insurance in case Latos absolutely bombs. Not if he would bomb. Keep in mind, everything anyone is using for their reason for Latos to suck, 2015 results, 2016 spring training results, this guy had the same problem.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) I don't think the appearance has anything to do with it. He doesn't really fit though. I don't get the appeal either, but if he is willing to go to Charlotte, who really cares? To me, getting a guy who would suck just as much or more than the person he is replacing really isn't insurance.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 07:48 AM) http://www.ocregister.com/angels/strong-42...body-table.html Lots of White Sox names in the Top 60. Unfortunately Rowand and Crede were the only ones to make it...Buehrle the year before. Others just off the list were Barcelo, Josh Fogg, Biddle and Stumm. It's actually 10 years later. The article is 5 years old. But the point remains the same, prospects break your heart. The Sox had plenty of highly ranked guys that didn't pan out. I totally forgot about Rauch. After winning in 2000 the Sox were expected to be the team of the next decade with Rauch being a right handed Randy Johnson, and Jon Garland being the next coming of Kevin Brown. At least they won once.
  19. The Bulls have had an at least 3 game losing streak 6 times this season. They had 6 losing streaks of 3 games or more total in the 5 seasons Thibs coached the team. Also DRose has played more games this year than the 3 previous seasons combined.
  20. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) This tells me that the White Sox brass can't be too pleased with the bottom of our rotation which consists of Danks and Latos. Either that or they think they see some flaw they think will turn Gonzalez around. His peripherals have been horrid for years, he was horrid last year and worse than that this spring. It is probably a long shot at best, but if he is willing to go to Charlotte, I don't see the harm. I just wouldn't expect much. It isn't often a good starting pitcher making $5 million gets released right before opening day.
  21. People love others' trash. Latos sucks, EJohnson sucks, just look at their springs. Miguel Gonzalez, now there's an idea. Yet this spring: 19 IP 35 H 21 R 21 ER 5 HR 6 BB 8 SO And that's in Florida. I wonder what it would have been like in AZ.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) I'm not defending Young but I'd be pissed if someone secretly recorded a conversation I had with them on anything. Completely pissed. To do it in the lockeroom and than have it leaked is even worse. In no way am I defending Young. Cheating scumbag and he'll get what he's deserved but Russell f***ed up royally too and should never have secretly recorded a conversation between two people in the lockeroom. That violates all code of the lockeroom. I can only imagine how everyone would be ripping LaRoche or Eaton if he had done something similar. I was watching an NFL show yesterday and every single player (black, white, defense, oline, etc)...this included hall of famer Jerome Bettis (plus Jeff Saturday and a few others) and they all absolutely ripped Russel and said if that happened in there lockeroom, things would have been much worse than the Lakers shunning him, but beyond that, you would never ever trust the player again (and that isn't just on the Lakers, no player will have that trust because it has been violated). The NFL guys mean nothing to me. Greg Hardy got a second chance. Ray Rice, if his performance wasn't horrid, would have had another chance. Saying never trust some kid who just turned 20, made a mistake, but nothing criminal, is absurd. Players do worse things every day. Young has every right to be angry. If he recorded me, I would be angry. But if that's the worst thing anyone will ever do to you, you will have a really happy life. People need to let it go.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) And to be fair, literally no one thought signing Sandoval at anywhere near what Boston bid was a good idea. No one. Never said anyone here did. I just said it seemed pretty obvious that trouble would occur. Maybe the Red Sox thought they could get 2 or 3 years out of him before it happened, but they got nothing. Many times teams get burned, but at least you could see where a signing made sense. This one was crazy.
  24. He would gain weight like those people on My 600 lb. life when he was playing for a contract. Now that he is guaranteed, there is no stopping that belly. His signing being a mistake was an easy thing to see before it happened.
