QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) MLB Trade Rumors @mlbtraderumors 50m50 minutes ago #Orioles figure to make three qualifying offers, as @Buster_ESPN reports they plan to make QO to Matt Wieters. Read: http://bit.ly/1Q2zrFX If the team is willing to give up a 2nd round pick this news probably makes him cheaper fiancially.

2015-16 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Checking, I believe its the room and board, food stipend for the summer which is during the term. Oh and they all attend summer school, its the only way to make up the credits to graduate on time. These guys dont take 22 hours during the season. unrelated: I took summer classes every year, it was my favorite time of the year. They also take summer school so they can work out. It's still a harsh penalty, but not nearly like losing it for a regular term. I am pretty sure if you aren't enrolled in summer school, you can't participate in the supervised work outs.

What if the Sox had ...
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Why are you starting with 2006? It's also curious why he ends with a 3rd place finish with 86 wins in 2013. When he whines about the White Sox, he makes no mention they won 88 games in 2010 or 85 in 2012.

White Sox sign Lombardozzi to minor league deal
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Can't say I understand this move. It's a minor league contract. Maybe it's a favor to a scout or an agent, or maybe they just need another infielder at Charlotte. Besides, they can waive him in Spring Training, and the White Sox bank account will never even know he was in the organization.

Yoenis Cespedes expected to leave Mets in free agency
Maybe they don't like their uniforms smelling like smoke. Supposedly, Cespedes is a chain smoker.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) well that is true. maybe times have changed that much where a guy like Alomar would have that kind of pull. Obviously most of the time it will be someone on the current staff. The White Sox did hire Fregosi during the season from the Cardinals AAA team.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) Indians would tell the Sox to go blow. They can't if it's in his contract he can move.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) But that would mean some sort of interim manager named to finish out the season, and then Alomar named in the offseason, correct? Coaches don't bolt teams mid-season to take over managerial positions on other teams. They can and they do.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) Did anyone else see the last 2 lines of the article? If the Sox decide to fire Robin mid-season, they can still offer Sandy the job. That is what I have been posting. I think if Robin gets the axe, he's the odds on favorite.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Should we have no coaches? They are all threats to Robins job next year. It's not anyone's fault but Robin and the Front Office for the position they are in. Resign him to a 2 year deal, fire him or roll with him on the 1 year deal and the consequences it's already bringing. They will hire someone. It's a bench coach job. The next post blaming Mark Parent for the White Sox record will be the first. They apparently wanted Sandy, but he didn't want to be perceived as a guy after Robin's job. OK, now the Sox have to move to the next guy on their list. How far it goes, who knows, but I doubt anyone will take a few wins off their White Sox projection based on the next coach they hire. Again, I think a different 3rd base coach may make a bigger difference.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) It's not going to help no matter who the bench coach is. That's the point. As long as Robin is on a 1 year deal with his job on the line there are going to be talks. It's possible, maybe probable, but Sandy doesn't want to be that guy. If they hire a guy that would be an interim manager, that is one thing, but if 2 weeks after a slow start, Sandy signed a 3 year contract, in his mind, he would look like a snake. It's a real tough hire especially if the hire is a guy who is interviewing for managing jobs. It is one reason I think they might go for a 3rd base coach and let McEwing be the bench coach. Personally, I think this would effect the White Sox more. I haven't been so impressed with McEwing's decisions the last couple of years, although with the lack of offense, he probably had to be more aggressive than normal. I just think at times, it was being stupid not aggressive.

Sox have asked Indians about Sandy Alomar Jr
QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) I always find notion silly of being respectful to the guy that holds the position. Say he gets fired in May. You not going to consider the job a few months down the line after the season is over? Robin's going to be on the hot seat no matter what. What it appears is Sandy was the choice to become the bench coach and probably the possible replacement. If Robin does get the axe, this decision doesn't preclude Sandy from being named the manager. If it is perceived that the new hire is Robin's potential or automatic replacement, there will be a million stories on it from the time he is hired, through spring training. It probably isn't good for Robin, the coaches, or the players.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Chances of the Sox signing Gordon are between 0.1% and 1.42538%. Once again the JR loyalty thing now accusing him of overpaying because he "owes" people. Try telling that to Fisk, McDowell, Thome, Buerhle, Konerko and his $2.5 million contract with $1 million of that deferred, AJP. Its one thing to offer an extension which buys out some arb years and delays free agency a year or 2. That isn't overpaying because of "loyalty'. This JR loyalty BS has gone way too far. Personally, I would buy Alexei out and offer him a contract with incentives that if he was awesome, pay him more than $10 million next year.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Fair point... If the White Sox had Lind or Morales they still would have sucked and had a lowere unprotected draft pick.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) It's the NFL, I wouldn't be so sure about that. Maybe not this season, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him playing again next year. Wishing death to staff's children? Considering even Jerry Jones let him go, he's done. The fact that he can get this crazy and owns guns, who is to say he doesn't kill half your team if he's drinking or something else or just is having a bad day?

Sox to hire Greg Sparks as Ast Hitting coach
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Hahn appears to be trying to bring in outside people. In a moment of optimism, I feel there are sharks surrounding Buddy Bell (metaphorically OF COURSE). Buddy Bell was once an outsider.

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) In his defense, he didn't take as many walks as Charlotte because they wanted him to cut down on his strikeouts. If they want him making more contact than his .OBP is definitely going to be lower. We can make excuses for a lot of things, but over 7 minor league seasons he hit .241 with a .319 OBP. He may be the rare guy that does better in the majors than the minors, but the odds are against it.

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) This was argued to death in a different thread, but Trayce's numbers after August weren't bad at all. .233/.310/.422/.732, 99 wRC+, lost of extra base hits. Anyone here would gladly take that performance over a full season. I'll continue to assert that he's earned a spot ahead of Avisail Garcia on the depth chart. He put up a .304 OBP in AAA last year. He was really good during his call up. Maybe he clicked with Steverson, but more than likely, if Trayce played everyday, his numbers would be worse than they were in AAA. I'd be willing to bet Adam LaRoche puts up a better OPS than Trayce next season, if Trayce was playing every day.

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Wieters is a nice player, but I'm saying no thanks to a big contract for the 30-year-old catcher with an injury history. Although Weiters hasn't exactly been Carlton Fisk, Fisk was a 33 year old catcher with an injury history.

Sox to hire Greg Sparks as Ast Hitting coach
Actually switched jobs with Todd Steverson a few years ago. http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_19308594 He actually went back to the role Steverson had this year. They did say they were instituting an organizational approach. It obviously is going to take time, and the correct players.

White Sox claim Jacob Turner from Cubs
QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) i like this move, low risk high reward move. i just hope that the sox will pickup another SP in the offseason still. they might not, considering they just added to the rotation with Turner. I am sure they will. They are not counting on him. He hardly pitching this year.

Alex Anthopoulos quits as Jays GM after turning down extension
Obviously Shapiro was going to be a lot more involved with personnel than Beeston. I don't think this is much of a shock. A free agent GM, at his peak value, with no openings available.
