  1. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Who won the Art Ross trophy last year? That's right. You have no idea. It was obvious from day 1 what you were. You get on a White Sox message board and want to talk Cubs. Now they are losing and you claim you don't watch, yet you are in this thread. Change your name to troll.
  2. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) My team didn't actually play. Glad your Mets won, though. Good for you. Your neighborhood rip showed you are a Cubs fan.
  3. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) "ill informed". You guys are the best. Your post was dumb and inaccurate. We know your team lost and you are in a bad mood, but don't try to defend your childish stupidity.
  4. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Wrong side of town. This isn't 35th and Shields we're talking about. Cubbie boy is starting to fall apart.
  5. There are the real Cubs fans, filing out so they can get a good seat at a bar that smells like puke.
  6. Ball gets suck in the weeds cost the Mets a run,
  7. lol everyone is talking about on CSN is how the cold hurt the Cubs. How do they expect to win the WS if they can't win when it is cold?
  8. Kaplan just had a Mets announcer on and he was talking about Murphy. Called him a great hitter who really doesn't care about anything else. Bad in the field and makes a lot of mistakes on the bases. Sounds like a White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Good lord, Cubs fans are literally the dumbest people on Earth. Yes, I realize that World Series appearances for their team are rare, but $2500 for one ticket? That's a fortune. Unless someone is insanely rich and don't know what to do with their money, that's crazy. Especially considering they are virtually guaranteed to be in the WS the next 10 years.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) To me the only way it is legit is if you get the char on the crust. I love to have a couple little black bubbles of crust. Gives great flavor. I agree.
  11. I am pretty sure Northwestern is the worst team ever ranked as high as 13 after week 5 in NCAA history.
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) ....Because the bullpen was above average. Managers are gonna look as good as their players. He also ranked high in bullpen use in 2014 when the bullpen was turble. I don't agree with everything he does. No one would. But the notion that every White Sox message board has that Ventura basically doesn't know the first thing about baseball is obnoxious. He knows more than any poster on these sites.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) They always give me a perfect pie, its just amazing. I like to order the caesar salad, 2 pies (one for each of us) and a bottle of wine and its a glorious dinner. The other thing I don't understand about it is it really isn't very big, but every time we go in there, despite the hype, we get seated right away. A salad to split, a couple of pies and Schlitz is how I go.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Coalfire is A1, no contest. Forno Rossa is pretty good too. My problem with a lot of these places is they are so scared of burning the crust, it winds up undercooked. Coalfire isn't afraid to cook the crust. You see them throwing out pies they overcooked all the time, but they won't undercook them. I think that is the key to success. If shipps' buddy can master cooking the crust, I'm sure his topping will be of high quality, he should be a big hit.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) You can get two seats together on Stubhub for just under $200 each. Bleacher tickets are going for under $250. My how quickly the fans have lost faith. Rooftops are also on Groupon, although I don't know if they are the ones behind boards.
  16. Frontera doesn't open until 5 and there will be a line. If Italian is OK, right behind the Hancock, (just east) is Franchesca's. reasonably priced, and their fish is really good. They get crowded late, but should be pretty wide open when you want to dine.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) They didn't lowball when they drafted Appel. They just flat out missed that pick. And going low worked great for the Astros in 2012 when they got Correa with the first overall pick and then were able to get McCullers with their compensation pick. Last year I would have taken Rodon if I was them but there were a lot of people that loved Aiken. It just sucks for the Astros that he has elbow issues. I agree with you that passing up on a premium talent to save money is in most instances is a mistake but I don't think that is really what happened in the Astros' case. They lowballed Appel. He signed for well under slot, as he had no leverage. Bryant would have cost the slot and then some., and Rodon was going to cost the slot and then some. Aiken originally agreed to below slot.
  18. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) that is exactly my point. because a team went over/under on a pick means nothing in isolation about whether it was dumb/smart/cheap/aggressive, whatever. I still think you pick the best player available. Very rarely do teams have more than 2 or 3 players in the same draft wind up with more than a 1.0 career WAR. This saving money for the 7th or 8th round I would bet hasn't been so fruitful. If from what we are told when we mention the Samardzija comp pick, that it is not so valuable, it has to be more valuable than the guys teams lowball their #1 pick to sign later, and lowballing a pick could mean you wind up with Mark Appel and not Kris Bryant, and Brady Aiken instead of Carlos Rodon. While a couple of people here say it was no big deal, if the White Sox did that, it would mean everyone who has ever even thought about working for the White Sox should be fired.
  19. Bill Murray was on Jimmy Kimmel and apparently said if the Cubs were to win the WS, Cubs fans could become unbearable. If a Cubs fan says that...........
  20. Houston didn't draft Rodon or Kris Bryant so they could have a few more dollars to go around. If they actually did draft the best player available, they might still be playing right now.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 07:02 AM) No, they don't. The Cubs coverage is always greater, because they are the greater media product. Exactly. In 1993 the White Sox are in the ALCS. Broadcasting live from what was then called Comiskey Park, the first story in sports was the Cubs fired Jim Levebvre. The Cubs will always get more coverage until enough people become interested in the White Sox. The White Sox do get more coverage than the Fire and the Sky, and the Sky are pretty good.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) My buddy is opening up a brick oven pizza place within the next year or so (near the Cell). Lately he has been hitting up a lot of the ones in or near the Chicago area to check out the soon to be competition and find out what is good/not good. I went with him to Sono on Clybourn and it was great. He said that it ranks up there with Cold Fire (His top rated so far). What are your recommendations? He will definitely try it and I will probably go with him. He doesn't want to leave any stone un-turned. Coalfire is my favorite. Pizzeria Da Nella on Fullerton can be really good.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) Probably because it's confirmed, and the history of what had happened prior with giants. I think they had a hearing over it. One team was dealing with street agents, I think the Cubs, while the Giants were dealing by text with what they believed to be their registered agent. Cubs win. Hopefully their last one for a while.
  24. There really is no reason to like Brown more than Garcia.
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) I never said they were worse. I just think they'll continue to have those problems against good pitching teams. The reason teams are considered good pitching teams is because not much is scored on them. If you are facing a stud pitcher, there's probably a better chance of hitting one in the seats than stringing together 3 or 4 hits. Just look at Sale, Chris. Things also get back closer to the mean after a while. The Cubs hit all those HR vs St. Louis. Maybe it will correct itself a bit this series.
