  1. The funny thing is Samardizja's own performance since the deadline is one big thing that killed the White sox. If he was just average, they probably are over .500. I don't see how you can blame the White Sox for thinking he should at least be average the rest of the season.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) Gotta imagine the Sox will still give the QO, but at this point there is some risk there. On the flip side, Shark seems checked out. I think he should be done for the year. If he decides to accept the QO (which I still doubt), he better come back hungry next year or he's going to find himself out of baseball pretty quick (or playing for a few million bucks in 2017). I think the risk is very small. Why would Samardzija think next year would be any better for him in the same situation? Someone will pay him a decent wage. Another year like this next year, and he wouldn't get much more than $5 million guaranteed, if that. This obviously isn't the place for him, and I would think he and his agent know that more than anyone.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) Guys can we please stop pretending that we KNEW s*** ALL ALONG? Samardzija has had a s***ty year that no one should have predicted, even if you didn't like the original acquisition. You're all lying if you claim you knew he would be this bad. If people knew he would be this bad or even close to it, the White Sox acquire Samardzija thread would have had a much different tone. I do think some thought he was overrated, and didn't buy all the hype. But you are right, there is no way anyone could have thought he would be this bad.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) shark was ready to leave. to me, it seems as he is going thru the motions till the end of the season he is pitching with out any emotion or for me, caring about the results. I think the going through the motions isn't accurate. I will give him competitiveness, and the fact is, he is still pitching for a new contract. It makes no sense that he would basically pack it in right now. He is just lost on the mound, and I guess that makes it look like he's not trying, but it would make zero sense from a lot of perspectives for him not to be fully engaged.
  5. Alexei probably shook off Geo more than Buerhle has ever shaken off a catcher. That was entertaining. Leury looked pretty good as well. I think if Leury ever busted out as a position player, he might want to give pitching a try. While it was fun to watch them, to me, nothing beats Dunn on the mound. His mannerisms were hysterical.
  6. The banner is a jinx. Need to reverse it. Put some guys who are supposed to be bad up there.
  7. I have never been a Samardzija fan, but as much as I have disliked him, and thought he was overhyped before he was ever a White Sox, I know he's not as awful as he has been his last 10 or so starts. He's missing his spots, he's throwing a ton of meatballs. What would his numbers be if he didn't have that hot stretch right before the deadline? The Sox and Shark will both correctly move on this offseason and probably both be better for it. The Sox will have money they earmarked for him to spend elsewhere, Shark will go somewhere with a fresh start and probably will be mediocre over the course of his deal not horrible like he his now.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) Wow! Anyone got an explanation for that? The West sucks. I think the White Sox are 19-10 vs. AL West teams.
  9. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) If you are going to be an administrator of a professional sports team fan message board, and said professional sports team continues to fail as often as the team this board is dedicated to does, then you shouldn't be surprised at the amount of complaints that result. What do you expect from fans after this abysmal season, the three of four before this one, and almost the past entire decade? Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows everywhere? Complaining comes with the territory on a site like this when passionate fans are continually and rightfully disappointed with the product they support, particularly the one of this past decade. The insanity here is not recognizing that and constantly castigating those who communicate their disappointment over these less-than-desirable results which have come our way for an awful long time now. Didn't you post you were ready to give up your fandom earlier this year? If this is so miserable for you, why don't you put your money where your mouth is and give it up? Unless you like to b**** and moan, which a lot of people do, it makes no sense sticking with something that makes you so miserable. If you go to a restaurant and you think the chef is bad, the owner is an idiot, the food is terrible, do you keep going so you can complain about it on Yelp?
  10. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) And? What's your f***ing point? I Cnt get my free tix too? Whatever. If you knew the survey wouldn't let you get free tickets to the stretch Sale game, you wouldn't have inquired. My point was made earlier. Trying to hog a toy promotion is pretty lame.
  11. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) I'm also the guy that posts discount and free ticket codes for sox games. Maybe I want to pump this and HELP some fans go to a game for free? LMAO. You posted YOU wanted free Sox tickets in the opening post.
  12. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) If I said this, everyone would flame me. Congratulations on understanding the state of the White Sox. Wasn't Olt the Opening Day 3B for your Cubbies?
  13. Strasburg tied his career high with 14 Ks tonight. He had 14 Ks his first career start.
  14. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Also, that's one of the two games that isn't available through the surveys. Then I bet he isn't interested.
  15. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Are you serious? The stadium wouldn't be full anyway even with the free ticket promotion, and even if it was, who cares if an adult gets a figure? They aren't earmarked for kids only. I have no problem with an adult getting a figure. But he already posted he was buying $7 tickets so he could go through several times to pick up more than one. This is an attempt to get a few for free.
  16. So a grown ass man can grab stretch Sale figures that kids could have? I hope your attempt fails.
  17. I guess the Cubs won't sweep the Pirates after all.
  18. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:40 AM) Good, my goal is to look cool and smart. Albers is pictured next to "just a guy" in the dictionary, despite his remarkable August in which he allowed 14 hits, 6 walks, and a hit batter in 13.2 innings. He's also allowed 10 inherited runners to score this year, which is tied for 35th in MLB this year behind a whole bunch of guys who've thrown more innings. The 1.38 ERA is a mirage and GM's know it. Any return for him would be a long shot to ever contribute, Gordon Beckham trade notwithstanding. Should he have been traded? Sure. Is it worth complaining about? No. Yeah, the "Beckham was traded for a guy who may be decent" doesn't mean Albers would be traded for a guy who would be decent. If it was, the Sox then should get a serviceable pitcher and a starting SS for John Danks considering that's exactly what they got for Jaime Navarro. One month of Matt Albers gets you scraps. Maybe those scraps become a decent player. Odds are, in a year, you forget exactly what the Sox received for Matt Albers. The White Sox are paying the guy. You would think if there was something offered they were even remotely intrigued with, they would have sent him packing. Obviously, there was not.
  19. One thing people forget with Ozzie, the White Sox don't want to deal with Oney Guillen tweets anymore. That is part of hiring Ozzie. You get that crap. It gets picked up by websites and suddenly, if everything isn't perfect, your manager's son is constantly ripping your team, and it is everywhere, for everyone to see.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Rumor has it Hahn still likes him. That was a Marty rumor. It seems to have been torched by Ozzie Jr. slamming Hahn and his lack of playing experience a month or so ago. Ozzie isn't going to manage the White Sox again. That Ozzie Jr. stuff was strange. Usually he is the one offspring who sort of stays out of stuff. Not only did he rip Hahn, he praised KW.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Robertson could also find it within himself to overcome adversity and hold 4 run leads Flare for a double, strikeout, 1st and 3rd nobody out. He did give up a walk and a solid single, but he certainly didn't pitch bad enough to give up 4. I am a Flowers defender, but there is no excuse for the glove work in the 9th.
  22. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) No but I think it's part of why people think he will eventually be a success at the major league level, feeds into the whole "he destroyed the minors" rhetoric. Whereas in reality he was terrible for 3 years, was above average in 2012, and extremely good at AAA in brief stops mainly on the back of some ludicrous BABIPs. I think his 1000+ MLB PA tell us more about who he's going to be than 250 AAA PA. Trayce's BABIP is obviously sky-high too but at least he's doing on it on the back of a decent BB:K, and showing strengths elsewhere. So you want to ignore Trace's walk rate as a 24 year old in AAA, and hold Avi's numbers as a 17-19 year old against him. OK.
