QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) FOX Sports LiveVerified account @FOXSportsLive MOOKIE BETTS! That's a nominee for #The1 tonight! What a grab. #RedSox If only was ruled a catch. It was pretty spectacular other than it popping out at the end, but if there was no replay, I would have assumed it was a catch. Kudos to Robin for the challenge.

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) Why did Betts jump over the fence? He had no reason to and could have stopped himself or crashed into the wall. I'm so tired of these hotshots trying to get their exposure on Baseball Tonight's web gem segment. If I was the pitcher I'd be LIVID if an outfielder did that to me. The the wall that low it is hard to stop. I went flying over a snow fence on a similar play in HS. But in my case it was an out, not a HR. Even a wall that low, the drop on the other side is a lot bigger than you anticipate when you are going over.

Too bad it was the final out. I think that woukd have been a 2 base advancement for the ball being out of play. Check thwt. Put it on the board.
-
Clearly a balk.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) Agree on taking the chance but it hurts not to score in an inning where you had two doubles. I womder if a team has ever hit 3 doubles in an inning and didn't score.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Let's hope that lost run doesn't end up impacting the final score. TB leading the Tigers 4-1, we would go into sole possession of 3rd place but might also push the Tigers to deal Price/Cespedes/Soria, etc. How can it not impact the final score?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) 9 pitches, 6 outs The Red Sox have turnedi into the White Sox, although to be far, I believe Samardzija has some imcredibly bad numbers vs hitters hitting the first pitch. It probably is in the game plan.

7 pitches, 5 outs.
-
6 pitches for the last 4 outs.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) Bonifacio is the DH tonight. They can pinch hit for him in his next appearance but I think the pitcher takes that spot afterward. No. Whoever hits in that spot is the DH, but if they take the field, then the pitcher is hitting.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) Ruh roh At least it is Boni. Hopefully it is a cramp.
-
Avi has to make them throw a strike once in a while.
-
6 games in a row with at least 2 hits for Melky.
-
This is unbelievable.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) Yet Flowers continues to play. He had 2 big hits last night.

Hanley Ramirez just doesn't give a s***.

A California Imdependent League is having balls and strikes called by a computer tonight.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) What's it to you ? Oh yea forgot you snuggle with Beckham. Somehow the Sox are scoring more runs with Gillaspie gone. He isn't and won't be missed. Whining about Gillaspie is beyond a reach.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) I can only imagine the overreaction in this thread tonight if Samardzija gets torched and the Sox lose. The ironic thing is, for Samardjiza's value, you need him to pitch well. If he pitches well, that lessens the odds he's dealt. I hope the Sox win 12-0. The draft pick is always a fall back option. It will be interesting to see if he isn't traded, if some of the proposals are ever leaked. I think if they were for future HOFers, he would have been traded by now even if they don't want to wave a white flag.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Of course Sox could've DFA'd Beckham or Bonifacio and used Conor as a DH instead of the slumbering lumbering LaRoche but noooooooo they make too much money to DFA and LaRoche makes waaaaaay too much to bench. ,though Gordo and Boni have been glued to the bench since Saladino arrived. Actual complaining about losing Conor Gillaspie?

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) He's being traded this week. He's on a tear and healthy. Tulo was just traded. Time is now for them. Obviously it depends on the offers, but the insider guys get used so much. Heyman is Boras' personal play toy.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Did he make the All-Star team or not? Was he the lone (token) representative from the Angels? I think not. Adam Dunn made the All Star team for the White Sox. Was he the token rep? I think not. Not even an injury replacement. He was a stud.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Apparently the Reds agree. Who has come up the same season he was drafted, (pitched in the College World Series in the case of Finnegan) and then the MLB World Series? Cincy was convinced he had a future as a starter, that's all that matters, in the end. And they liked Reed a lot. With Lamb, anyone who's had TJ surgery once is a risk, but he was a huge prospect at one time, like Drabeck. What matters is your scouting report said Finnegan and Duffy were the future. One of them is gone. One of them has been injured and struggled. And their starters have been pretty bad anyways. Burning out the bullpen. Simple regression. Having to pay players. The future is not so bright in KC. The cow town won't attract free agents unless they overpay.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) They don't want Zobrist for next year, they need him for these 2 1/2 months. Simple. Back to the drawing board? If you're living under a rock, they've added guys like Madson, Hochevar (back from injury) and Medlen to take some of the pressure off that bullpen. They're unlikely to sign Cueto or Price, but then I never thought Glass would okay spending $55 million on Gil Meche a decade ago or bringing in Jose Guillen, either. You can guarantee they will bring in SOMEONE for their starting rotation before next season. The irony is that we're talking about all these moves not paying off and "blowing up" if they don't win the World Series. This is the Royals, remember? Two or three seasons ago they were a laughingstock..."we keep hearing about all these young prospects, blah blah...they screwed up the franchise by trading Wil Myers, etc." I'm sure if I went back to the thread on the day Myers/Odorizzi/Montgomery were traded for Davis and Shields, it will be filled with those critical of the move and saying the Royals were nuts. And Odorizzi and Montgomery (with Seattle) was a big price to pay, but Myers has never come close to being the cornerstone player he was projected to be. How's Medlin doing Royals boy? Hochevar isn't doing squat. That bullpen has been burning at both ends and it will catch up. And just wait until it is time to pay those guys. Better win now Royals. It's going to be a very short ride. On the bright side, when they get back to their losing ways, you will have the greatest beat writers in baseball to feed you BS you can eat up.

Blue Jays interested in Quintana or Samardjiza

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) I wasn't referring to Donaldson. I was referring to the trade suggestions of getting a few of Toronto's decent prospects in exchange for Q. That is extremely undervaluing him. I agree. I don't understand what trading Q for prospects accomplishes other than having your farm system ranked higher. It certainly won't win more games.
