  1. Has it been mentioned anywhere the Sox are dangling EJ or is it just speculation to get some riled up?
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) If we're going to trade someone like Montas or Adams, I'd much prefer a guy who will be here longer than 2015. I would be shocked if they traded any of their top guys for a rental.
  3. I have ripped KW as much as anybody, but one thing he has totally excelled at is trading prospects. With very few exception, most he trades wind up as guys who wouldn't help.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) Is he a lousy fielder at third? We need that defense we've been getting from Saladino. Can Alvarez play D? If not, pass. He was so bad at 3B they moved him to 1B where he is probabky worse than Dunn.
  5. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) God f***ing damnit. Why, the correct Sox need to score some runs,
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Sanchez hit 8th (with Flowers 9th) last night and we scored 9 or 10 runs. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Robin is going with the Joe Maddon pitcher hit 8th theory tonight.
  7. That will teach him to bat lefty vs. Sale.
  8. That's his fork hand. Not good.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) I can say with certainty that he doesn't hustle as hard as he can/should on gappers or balls hit down the line. I do not agree.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) Shuck has been very, very solid this year. He's our only corner outfielder who hustles, and he hits well. You can say a lot of negative about Avi, but you can't say he doesn't hustle.
  11. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) Is this really a thing? They claim they have 2 camera angles in every park that no one has access to except the reviewers in NY. Seems like a tall tale to me.
  12. I think the 2 secret MLB cameras is BS. I think it is to make people think this camera that doesn't exist shows something they couldn't see.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) There are two legitimate criticisms you can use to explain why we have a non-elite (but non-horrible) farm system. First is that we have drafted badly, which at least until around the Sale draft is hard to argue with. You can lump in international scouting as well. Wilder looms large even after all this time. Second is not that we have traded out of our farm, but that we haven't done enough trading into it. You could argue that years we have gone for it we should have instead moved our big league assets to reload our minor leagues. Somewhere between those two is the publicized fact that until the draft slot system was in place, Reinsdorf more or less despised the idea of investing money in draft picks. I suspect the Joe Borchard signing had a significant and lasting effect as he thought about the nice big leaguers he could have gotten for that money instead. Part of the reason for a farm system is to be used for trade. The White Sox got a lot more value for the players they drafted than the players they drafted actually provided. They didn't draft well, up until Dunn, they hadn't spend more than $20 million on another team's free agent since Albert Belle, yet they had some good teams. They weren't really in a mode to trade their players for prospects, but recently things have become better with Jaye and Webb, and Montas
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) 54 pitches thru 2.2 for Wright. Bullpen already gassed as is Knuckleballers can throw more.
  15. Hey Stone Pony, how did the Sox catch a break missing CC?
  16. I wonder why Hawk thinks Saladino making all the plays got Alexei goimg defensively, when Beckham makimg all the plays did not.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) You know that Miguel Cabrera fella. When he was put on the block we didn't have the bullets to get him here. Trust me Kenny tried. He just didnt have the horses to do it. Because he keeps going for it. So keep dumping players every year and you have nothing to go over the top when you need to. Agsin who are these prospects that were sent alomg that were missed? Rather ironic you say his trading prospects left the farm in shambles, then complain he didn't have prospects to trade for someone right after he won a World Series.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) Ehhhh little different. Everyday player >>>> set up guy. While true you would be picking up twice as much money for Upton and 1 1/2 times the cash for Cespedes.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) I didnt know because thats not entirely true. Star rankings come out as soon as freshman year in HS. I can't find it, but Tom Lemming, a guy I thought evaluated was quoted on it.
  20. I would offer Beck to the Padres and Tigers. First to say yes has a deal.
  21. If the Rays want to leave that market, tradimg Longoria would really help them accomplish that. It is one thing losing good players because you can't sign them. It is quite another trading the face of the franchis signed long term.
  22. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) After this and the Detroit/BJ's trade today, I'm trying to find a Sellers/Price joke but its just not there. Someone help me out! Back in 1990, the White Sox surprised everyone and came out of nowhere to compete with Oakland for the AL West crown. It was a longshot. Oakland added Harold Baines and Willie McGee with deadline trades. The White Sox added Jerry Hairston and I am not kidding, Minnie Minoso, so he could play in another decade. The commissioner eventually voided Minnie, and the only reason Hairston was signed was as a favor for his pension. The Ozzeroo was not happy.
  23. Saladino and Leury on the big club, they need a SS in Charlotte.
  24. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) Why would somebody put that in a contract? I don't see the benefit for either side. He becomes a free agent without the required service time, and even if he stayed in Detroit would not be subject to compensation. He basically is betting on himself.
  25. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Not for a couple of months that would be steep. I don't think I would. But I'm sure there are people who would in a heartbeat. It really would be an interesting trade.
