  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Wonder what they would want for Hanley? Would it take any of the Sox top 3 prospects? f*** him. He plays the OF like he just doesn't care.
  2. The Red Sox must not have practiced covering 3rd in spring training.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Because it's complicated. Framing helps pitchers (which probably increases their WAR), and if you include it for catchers then you're double-counting WAR. I think they should either double count it or if it is a catcher skill, take that particular aspect away from the pitcher, and give it to the catcher.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) even if you believe the framing stats as gospel he's not "one of the best". He's above average. http://www.statcorner.com/CatcherReport.php I posted a link in another thread, the Soto thread I think, according to BP today he is 3rd best.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) What's your argument for him not sucking exactly? He is the 3rd best pitch framer in baseball according to BP. Pitchers like throwing to him. He can't hit, but has had some timely safties. He obviously has his faults, but he isn't as bad as so many, not just here but at games as well where there is always someone yelling to him he sucks, make him out to be. There aren't many perfect catchers around the league.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Not sure I get this. We're literally overflowing with RH relievers: Robertson Putnam Petricka Webb Albers Jones Why on earth would we trade for a RH reliever? We don't even have room for Jones right now. An 8th inning tested guy would be nice. Webb has thrown pretty well but his radar can go at anytime. Hey, hey, hey its Matt Albers has been decent but would you really trust him in a game you had to win? And Nate Jones is throwing zeroes but fanning no one in the minors. I think he still needs time.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) Are you willing to risk a shot at winning the AL Central in 2016 on a bet that Avi will learn how to hit next year? I thought you said the Sox are f***ed for the rest of the decade,
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) I find it odd that Leury has "L Garcia" on his jersey, but Avisail just has "Garcia". In the past, Avisail had "A. Garcia". If Leury was on the opening day roster Avi would have the A.
  9. Down 6 make the first out at home with a 300 pounder running? If you think the White Sox are a mess........
  10. I am pretty sure if you had to get rid of Danks, Boston would give you Porcello.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) Gio/De Los Santos Prior to the 2008 season. So 7 years ago. I would think that really doesn't qualify for what Caulfield stated he has. We know KW traded prospects. He traded s***ty prospects for guys that actually played pretty well, yet many complain. Freddy Garcia for a bunch of prospects. KW won. Gio was about the only guy that was regretful. Everyone else was either really medicore, or just plain sucked, and was definitely no better than what was acquired. Hudson was OK, but he got hurt. EJax was good with the Sox. He turned into Fraser, who turned into Webb and Jaye, so even there, he did fine. I bet AZ would trade you Hudson today for Webb and Jaye.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Even though it brings excitement, I still struggle with the concept of the 1 game playoff. Given how long of a season baseball is, seems so arbitrary and punitive to the team that put in all that work and only gets to play 1 game. From a pure entertainment perspective though, clearly exciting and that excitement does a great job kicking off the post-season (especially the way the Royals won that playoff last year). I think that is one of the greatest things about it. It puts a lot more value in winning your division.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) They're seemingly determined not to have Micah Johnson set foot anywhere near the MLB defense for now. And/or they're looking to trade him, but who knows with KW and his penchant for dealing prospects... Who was the last top prospect KW traded?

Rick has it easy and is paid a good wage to pick up KW's dry cleaning, find gifts for KW to give his wife, and picking up KW and JR's lunch every day. C'mon man. Hahn isn't going anywhere. He really isn't the puppet he is made out to be.
  15. I always thought Hoffman would be a great return for Samardzija, but I've read a couple of guys who are pretty down on him. There is no way I would give up Montas for CarGo. That move has people complaining about KW for years written all over it.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Laroche for Alvarez makes to much sense. for us, but still. Not really. LaRoche is a whipping boy, but he'll hit again. Wasn't too long ago Melky's contract was an albatross. I was told by one, he wouldn't put up a 4 WAR total from his low point for the balance of the contract. He is already 25% there. He has eked his way back to a positive WAR. LaRoche will hit again.
  17. Castro has been through 3 or 4 managers, has had a couple of off field incidents. Maybe he grows up and becomes something. I wouldn't give up anything to find out.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) You make a good point but you generally don't want to buy low and sell high in the same move, which is what we would be doing by trading Quintana for Puig. Exactly. Buying low is fine. When the price is Q, that is not buying low. It's buying a low current performance for a premium price which gets GMs fired.

Here's the biggest reason Tyler Flowers plays http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable...php?cid=1821757
  20. Right now, being that the overwhelming odds are against the White Sox winning the division, they shouldn't be sending away top prospects for bats unless those bats are going to be around for a while. I am not a big fan of CarGo. Of course he is hot right now, but he will cool off, and as was stated above, if you don't like LaRoche vs. LHP, you aren't going to like CarGo. Only take CarGo if you give up no top 7 or 8 prospects. For some reason, I don't think the Rockies would go for that.
  21. Less than a week ago, the Sox were in last place. They are now just as close to a playoff spot as they are last place. If only Robertson didn't give up that triple to Molina.
  22. I think the Sox are really chasing TOR and BALT. The Twins are going to fade. Their youngsters won't handle it. I wouldn't be surprised if HOU fades as well. On ESPN Stark says teams say the White Sox have been tellimg teams they won't trade Shark if it makes them weaker this season.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Knowing KW, that would make him even more tempting...because he won't have to offer as much and the Padres wouldn't have much to gain with the compensation pick. Not unlike bringing in Manny Ramirez in 2010. In the end, CarGo is much more likely, but only if KW's controlling things and has convinced JR to move on from Avi Garcia, since we'd be stuck with his contract for two more seasons. Considering some of the posts you made about guys KW would claim on waivers or certainly trade for, your "knowing KW" couldn't be further from the truth.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) IIRC didn't he leak the Shark deal? And Robertson? i wouldn't doubt it, but White Sox stuff, he is usually spot on.
