If Mitch is their QB moving forward and he most likely will be that is how they have to play on offense. I think if Mitch plays all year in an offense that fits his skill set they go 10-6 and are playing the Skins. Pace needs a football boss. Making the pkayoffs is never a bad thing in the NFL.

Which is what he should be doing until the offense finds an identity.

Kmets fumbled ended the game. Pagano is an embarassment. Rogers just hands him his lunch.

They should move to Illinois then retire to Indiana.

Nobody really is at this point except San Diego.

Blake Snell and Yu Darvish traded to San Diego
Harry Chappas replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So that I understand correctly you have doubts on Lynn and Keuchel but not Snell and Darvish? Snell has had ONE great year and the rest are average. Darvish has not been a model of consistency when it comes to health. I compared Lynn to Snell and Darvish when it comes to actually pitching and if you add Dallas it is not even a conversation. San Diego has the capital to take this risk the White Sox do not nor do they necessarily need to. -
The issue is what is that direction? Do they mortgage the future to trade up with the Bengals to get the next Dewayne Haskins? Moving on from Mitch is a lot easier said than done.

Dane Dunning became Shane Bieber after the Lynn trade and Lance Lynn became Lance Broadway. I give credit to the Padres for building an amazing farm system which allowed them to make these moves. They got the cubs to take four lottery tickets. There is a decent enough chance that both Snell and Darvish don't pan out like they are being purported to do. In their careers combined Darvish and Snell have thrown over 200 innings in a season once. Lance Lynn has done it 3 times. In their careers combined Darvish and Snell have started over 30 games in a season four times. Lance Lynn has done it 5 times. The Padres have the farm system depth to overcome both of the potential shortcomings of Snell and Darvish not many if any teams have this luxury. -

I think there is no way cubs trade with sox at this point. How is that the best the cubs got? -

How long do you wait for Springer? I don't think Eaton is a replacement for Springer I just think he was willing to sign and there is a need there for a LHH. -

Joc is a platoon player. That seems to be an issue with your construction of a roster as Eaton is serviceable v LHP while Joc is not. Also Joc has not signed. While the White Sox could continue to wait him out they moved forward with the certainly to fill a role same with trading for Lynn. The offseason is not over maybe in April this will be an issue but at this time I think the rumbling over the offseason is a little premature. -

My original point when bringing up jerry jones is that I think JR does get what he wants but I do not think he is forcing the issue and turning off the front office in the process. That does not seem to be his MO. I think he has a say but I do not think it is a my way or the highway type of thing. Did this front office want Abreu back last winter? Also as was pointed out why now force TRL on the front office. There was ample opportunity to do this previously, why do it now? -

I don't think Snell is the all in kind of move and that is what I find frustrating about this board currently. The Padres got him because they had depth in the farm that the Sox may have in a year or two but it was not allowed to play out in 2020. -

Eaton was literally a championship RF in 2019. -

I agree but I think the front office is content with it for now. I think JR probably had to sell them but if Williams and Hahn were vehemently opposed I think they do go in a different direction. -

With LaRussa it is a three year run. Eaton is a filler and hopefully when said and done a bench piece. Eaton was signed to a one year deal for nothing. He is filling a minor role as a platoon RF that can hit RHH which is needed. -

I fully believe that Tony was not on any list until JR put him on the list. If TLR is then on the list he gets the job as there is nothing in an interview that would lead you away from him. TLR checks all the boxes (maybe not the socially acceptable one's) for winning baseball games. If it is between he and Hinch I am not sure Hinch is the better hire. If the hire is someone without experience the narrative is that they are going on the cheap. I am not certain what TLR is making but my guess is it is not cheap. In my little rose colored glasses world, Hahn buys in knowing this is a three year run and there are worse options than Tony and certain some with more risk of failure. -

How so...wasn't he part of the Red Sox front office when they won the world series. After reading the Peter Gammons athletic story I am more of the mindset that this wasn't just JR forcing him on Hahn and Williams. In the social justice world Gammons is rather liberal so was interested in his take. -

Who was moved for Darvish? In my I hate the cubs world, the Padres and Mets turning into major contenders is nice to see. -

Maybe I am ignorant but I do not think that JR is a puppet master of this organization. I think he sets a budget and that is it. I do think he has a say on major moves and is involved in conversations but isn't directing the dumpster diving and bringing in the Friends of Manny. I also believe that while he may have pushed for TRL hard Hahn and Williams had to buy into it. They may not have liked it but I think they would have pushed back harder if they were against it as much as this board feels they were. -

I did not mean for it to seem that way. I was agreeing with you and expounding on how every move made in baseball now seems to directly impact how the White Sox work and is a direct result of JR running the team. If the Padres get Darvish and it liquidates their farm they have a two to three year window tops. I am fine with Lynn and the farm v Snell/Darvish and no farm -

This site is awesome. Somehow JR is now Jerry Jones.
