  1. So now Tony LaRussa is a career criminal and should be in the same conversation of legal privilege for the wealthy as OJ and not agreeing with this is carrying water for JR.
  2. I think in context you need to look at the hazard pay as a total benefit package. Are they offering their employees a full benefit package with health coverage?
  3. I am in the group that feels like we are cheering loudly for his hiring but I have only come to accept it. I think the staff and team that has been built is built for success. Their hirings around him have been great. Hahn and the staff obviously feel that reliance on development will be the key to this team. You can call it cheap but are the options all that bad? It is not like Jimmy Lambert is being rolled out there as the #4. There are 3 proven starters and 4 potential pretty decent #4 and #5 options. There is a RHH hitter that should fit the DH role perfectly. I believe there is a good amount of this board that now look at JR as Jerry Jones. I think JR has a say and I think if he pushed for Tony previously and did not get his way maybe Hahn and Williams (who was part of the process in the 90s) relented because of it. Hiring LaRussa in 1996 could have changed this organization for the better....maybe doing it now will work. I say all of this because I am not a fan of Hinch and really don't think there were any other candidates out there that didn't have similar risk.
  4. He was still working with the Angels when the White Sox hired him.
  5. I have seen nobody worshipping him. Not everybody his hellbent on telling everyone he is the worst person alive.
  6. So ten years ago is not relative but 33 years ago is? The guy that is a clueless moron moved on from a team the was one of the most successful in White Sox history (1983) and had a hall of fame career winning world series and numerous pennants with two different franchises. Of the White Sox A's and Cardinals only the White Sox have won a world series after he left so while there has beena level of success with both franchises the success was greater with LaRussa. AJ Hinch was a failure in AZ and his replacement in Houston took a team that lost their two aces under Hinch to the ALCS but he was going to come in and lead the White Sox to greatness without a doubt. He may be a epic failure, time will tell but they guy is not a moron. You may also find him despicable but to think he does not know baseball is idiotic.
  7. He won the world series 10 years ago you act like he has not managed a game since 1957 He has a good staff around him and he has a history of success. You can hate him all you want but to act like the guy doesn't know baseball is asinine.
  8. The guy changed the game while managing. He is not a blathering idiot that is spouting off nonsense. If some other manager said this we would all be anxious of what they think. You can hate him for a myriad of reasons but he knows what he is doing. In regard to Hahn walking away......ya that is easy to say. How has it gone for someone like Dan Evans once he left. Hahn has better job security than just about any GM in baseball.
  9. My two cents on this... Why do the White Sox keep him around and not give him an opportunity? The guys they lost because they have kept him around are no great shakes but if you are going to keep him why not play him? I do find it odd.
  10. I really do not get the whole non-masking thing. What is the issue with wearing a mask it is the height of stupidity. I find it insanely baffling.
  11. With a lost year of production any minor league player ranking is worthless.
  12. IMO, viewership of football both college and pro was always greatly higher because of level of gambling. Square pools, strip cards etc. more so for the Super Bowl parties garnered interest but also the neighborhood book let you bet on football. it is simple and easy. Other sports are more complex and easier to thing changes rapidly to hang on every play. Now with online gambling you have options. Advertising is always the key with live sports because you are not necessarily going to tune out but there is so much content out there that it is sapping interest that it makesthe match up more interesting.
  13. I don't mean to sound like a jerk but don't the white Sox draw poorly for spring training 90% of the time? A Kansas City White Sox spring training game on tv always looked to have about 600 people at it.
  14. That really was a very misleading story that tried to make a point that was not valid.
  15. Why don't they just play every spring training game as an inter squad game if there are 75 rostered players at each site. Or just play one other team. Sox v Dodgers for a month.
  16. I agree am I crazy to think that this is not a good deal for Bauer? He is betting on himself but the guaranteed money is not what I thought he would have gotten.
  17. I am still holding out hope for a Gio extension in lieu of Bauer.
  18. How many first round picks will the Rams have traded away. Sounds like the 49ers want to go after Kirk Cousins. If the Bears feel that they will be good. Giving 3 first round picks is kind of easy to do. If they suck and are 3 top ten picks that is when it is bad.....like what the Texans did. If the Texans think the Bears 2022 and 2023 picks will be top ten picks they make the trade. Would make more sense to pass on the 2021 pick and take Roquan and 2022 & 2023 picks.
  19. Bauer at 30 getting a six figure contract v Lynn getting a 2 year extension are vastly different. I'm very interested to see where Bauer lands and for how much before we can debate that point.
  20. San Diego, Mets and Blue Jays are better. Sox are better than last year both on paper and reality.
  21. Everyone needs to be lucky especially when it comes to health in every sport. Cease/Lopez/Rodon/Kopech need to pitch like #4 and #5 starters and they need to be lucky that the other three pitch to their capabilities.
  22. If healthy he is a 1.5-2.0 WAR pitcher. It is not about performance it is about health. Comparing him to Dylan Covey as I think I read in this thread is arsine but pretty par for the course for this board this offseason.
  23. Did the gross revenue in baseball increase by over 20% over that same time period? Sorry I see now that was discussed.
  24. Any free agent option after Bauer is meh If Rodon can stay healthy he has the best upside of anyone moved this offseason except Snell Darvish or Bauer. It is $3M. For that price it is good move.
  25. How long were the White Sox supposed to wait to do this? My guess is Joc was looking at 2/$20M when Eaton signed. Same thing with pitching, should the Sox have waited on Yu, Musgrove, Tallion.......maybe but they need to make moves that get done.
