  1. I think there is no way cubs trade with sox at this point. How is that the best the cubs got?
  2. How long do you wait for Springer? I don't think Eaton is a replacement for Springer I just think he was willing to sign and there is a need there for a LHH.
  3. Joc is a platoon player. That seems to be an issue with your construction of a roster as Eaton is serviceable v LHP while Joc is not. Also Joc has not signed. While the White Sox could continue to wait him out they moved forward with the certainly to fill a role same with trading for Lynn. The offseason is not over maybe in April this will be an issue but at this time I think the rumbling over the offseason is a little premature.
  4. My original point when bringing up jerry jones is that I think JR does get what he wants but I do not think he is forcing the issue and turning off the front office in the process. That does not seem to be his MO. I think he has a say but I do not think it is a my way or the highway type of thing. Did this front office want Abreu back last winter? Also as was pointed out why now force TRL on the front office. There was ample opportunity to do this previously, why do it now?
  5. I don't think Snell is the all in kind of move and that is what I find frustrating about this board currently. The Padres got him because they had depth in the farm that the Sox may have in a year or two but it was not allowed to play out in 2020.
  6. Eaton was literally a championship RF in 2019.
  7. I agree but I think the front office is content with it for now. I think JR probably had to sell them but if Williams and Hahn were vehemently opposed I think they do go in a different direction.
  8. With LaRussa it is a three year run. Eaton is a filler and hopefully when said and done a bench piece. Eaton was signed to a one year deal for nothing. He is filling a minor role as a platoon RF that can hit RHH which is needed.
  9. I fully believe that Tony was not on any list until JR put him on the list. If TLR is then on the list he gets the job as there is nothing in an interview that would lead you away from him. TLR checks all the boxes (maybe not the socially acceptable one's) for winning baseball games. If it is between he and Hinch I am not sure Hinch is the better hire. If the hire is someone without experience the narrative is that they are going on the cheap. I am not certain what TLR is making but my guess is it is not cheap. In my little rose colored glasses world, Hahn buys in knowing this is a three year run and there are worse options than Tony and certain some with more risk of failure.
  10. How so...wasn't he part of the Red Sox front office when they won the world series. After reading the Peter Gammons athletic story I am more of the mindset that this wasn't just JR forcing him on Hahn and Williams. In the social justice world Gammons is rather liberal so was interested in his take.
  11. Who was moved for Darvish? In my I hate the cubs world, the Padres and Mets turning into major contenders is nice to see.
  12. Maybe I am ignorant but I do not think that JR is a puppet master of this organization. I think he sets a budget and that is it. I do think he has a say on major moves and is involved in conversations but isn't directing the dumpster diving and bringing in the Friends of Manny. I also believe that while he may have pushed for TRL hard Hahn and Williams had to buy into it. They may not have liked it but I think they would have pushed back harder if they were against it as much as this board feels they were.
  13. I did not mean for it to seem that way. I was agreeing with you and expounding on how every move made in baseball now seems to directly impact how the White Sox work and is a direct result of JR running the team. If the Padres get Darvish and it liquidates their farm they have a two to three year window tops. I am fine with Lynn and the farm v Snell/Darvish and no farm
  14. This site is awesome. Somehow JR is now Jerry Jones.
  15. The irritating thing for me is that in regard to the O line the Bears did not even know who they had. Seems like the interior is pretty set now. The fact that they kept running Coward out there is rather head scratching but maybe the lack of preseason played a role in that. Having Ifedi try to move inside seems dumb now as well.
  16. The Bears need a football minded person to be Pace's boss. There just isnt enough seasoned football minds in the organization. Stay healthy here.
  17. But did he call them? That is what we need to know.
  18. So you feel you are an enlightened Boomer compared to Cali. I find it odd that while TLR may be a rather deplorable human being this board feels he is just a muttering old man who has never accomplished anything. I believe while he failed in AZ he was credited with assisting in Bostons WS run 2 years ago. I think he is keeping the seat warm for Jerishchelle (no clue how to spell it). He gets two years. I also don't think he is sitting around trying to sign players either.
  19. Wasn't he the President at the time though? Maybe baseball is different from football where I am pretty sure you cannot interview for a lateral move.
  20. Agreed My point though is more to the idea that the big signing free agents may be detrimental in the end. If COVID is playing the part in Phillie than my rationale is not debunked here.
  21. Sorry I misread the tweet. I should go read the article. In the NFL you can interview for a promotion not sure if the MLB is the same.
  22. Nothing alike but the White Sox seem in a better position so I am not certain the White Sox are the one that erred and should be frowned upon. This is especially true if the Phillies were at one time looking to move Wheeler. If spending money on a player hampers your ability to improve moving forward it is debatable if that money is worth it for said player. Hahn may look at the Sox and Phillies and while not happy with his current situation does not see the Phillies as an improved situation.
  23. The report states he turned it down three times. Dombrowski and JR go as far back as JR and TLR and JR's boneheaded hiring of Hawk essentially fired both. I would guess that Dombrowski approached JR prior to speaking to Hahn three times. This could all be untrue but it could also debunk the Soxtalk ideology of the current state of the White Sox front office.
  24. The New York Yankees have been a super team since the time numbers were first put on the back of jerseys. The NBA just has a different structure and you need less players to make it work.
  25. If this is true it debunks how put off Hahn is to his lot in life with the Chicago White Sox.
