  1. Two top flight players not yet in their prime becoming free agents All of the big boys from day say they are out of the biding The White Sox take this to mean they can low ball both guys and wait them out The White Sox prove yet again they are second rate bunch But hey we have Daniel Palka and Nicky Delmonico
  2. Siliver lining is that both went to the NL and thus the NL is now a bear and the cub road looks tougher then ever. In regard to baseball that is about all I can do is root against he cubs. I kind of backed the White Sox organization in the past but now I really am buying in to the fact that they are just cheap and now they are all about pocketing the revenue generated through the MLB.
  3. should have been southwest side. Sorry I am a Chicago legal voter.
  4. The White Sox are in no position to worry about 3 years down the road and the impact the opt out will have. Hopefully Harper can attract other talent here over this time. In three years if he opts out, they can try and extend him early like the Yankees did with A-Rd or pick up a high draft pick. Harper will be fully engaged to excel over those 3 years as opposed to a mailing it in Manny.
  5. The White Sox are asking Harper to bet on them. Why should he bet on them? Same with Machado. The White Sox are not desirable. There is as likely a chance they average 65 wins over the next five years as there is they average 85. The White Sox needed to realize that they will have to pay for these guys and they don't want to therefore they are not getting them. Adam Jones will be signed soon is my guess.
  6. I'm a late 40's white guy from the southwest suburbs and I voted for Lightfoot. I thought her and Vallas were only two candidates worth a damn.
  7. The Machado thing is irritating not because they didn't want to go to 10/$300. The issue is over paying and helping the Indians for Alonso and bringing in Jay. Neither guy does anything for the future of this franchise. Also if Tatis hits the common fan will now be able to see the epic failure in the White Sox giving the Padres the left side of their infield. If Harper is more than 10/$340 fine let him go...I personally think 10/$350M is my ceiling Losing both is not the worst thing it is the idea that we were told they were in on getting them but then we find out they are only in if they get them on the cheap. We as fans were given the impression that this was what the White Sox were going to do and it is obvious that it is certainly not the case.
  8. I wonder how much of Manny leaving the limelight impacts anything. Let's be honest the White Sox getting Harper puts Machado to the Pads out of the news cycle completely. The east coast/limited interest bias can't get Trout into the mix from LA....you will never hear from Machado again. You put Machado in NY or Philly and there is still front page coverage. Harper going to a big market takes over the baseball news cycle for the next few weeks and is reason to check in on the White Sox. I am also wondering if Machado was balking about playing third here.
  9. What player that has fallen victim to this has left their team and used this as the basis?
  10. The White Sox need to come out and tell their fan base that Bryce Harper is too expensive as if they are in the mix they better sign him or we as fans need to realize that we are irrelevant. In the grand scheme of things if Madrigal and Moncada are the 2B and 3B of the future Harper is the perfect fit in RF, then 1B then DH. Why do I still care.....ugh
  11. That is a no brainer right now if the White Sox were a serious franchise. If they won't pay that then I am finally in the camp that JR likes his one trophy and now the White Sox and Bulls will be irrelevant for years to come. These two guys are the exact pieces a team like them need. The Padres realized this and signed Machado. Yes it could a year or two early but these options are not coming along again in the near future. The White Sox payroll will not get above $125M any time soon. I really cannot comprehend how poorly the JR front offices are run.
  12. Me too in the matter of about 20 seconds I did a whole 180.
  13. Actually starting the season with two negative WAR outfielders is pretty hard to do I would imagine.
  14. I'd go with the Machado offer and guarantee everything plus a little bump 10/$340 and a 5th year opt out. The opt out is good for the Sox to not include it makes no sense.
  15. The thing I always said was that Machado would alleviate the Tatis argument going forward.... Machado going to SD makes it worst Alonso, Jay and the othesr are just the continuing kick in the nuts to the fans Oh and 10/$300M was a fair contract and should have been matched if what they said all off-season of being all in was not bullshit.
  16. Harper is getting a no trade clause or at least a limited one.
  17. The guy has been a troll when he was iwinforRon and a couple of other Ron handles. This board needs a scoreboard for the few folks that really have nothing left in life but to wander around internet message boards they are not even interested in because the world has nothing other than this to offer them
  18. I finally believe what I heard all winter. The White Sox were not serious contenders they were like the person at the auction that is excited until it gets real then they get scared real quick. Hahn believed he could get a bargain and then was clowned when the real team walked in with their money.
  19. They were saying on the radio and it started as tongue in cheek but it has popped up again and again and maybe I really am starting to believe that JR probably is happier that they were over bid. He was probably shitting thinking he would have to pay $250M over 8 years and the front office was probably lead to believe that they had the opportunity to make this deal. Front Office is mad but JR is A-OK
  20. If the ceiling on Machado was really 10/$320 I think you offer that to Harper. I always felt Machado would be better in years 1-4 but Harper would hold value throughout the 10 years if that was what was needed. I have zero faith the White Sox front office is doing anything right now but it would make me forget he last few days. Harper could literally save this franchise right now.
  21. He shouldn't take the court again this year. That is a big body doing athletic things.....oh and I dislike Duke.
  22. I bought into and pushed that idea hook line and sinker. You don't need a seat at the table...just hook up for drinks after dinner and hammer it out.
  23. That and I still can't get my arms around the fact Alonso and Jay will be the consistent reminders of their failing for the next 8 months then Tatis and Macahdo for the next 10 years. Then there is the ole JR I'm not taking risk let's cobble a contract up to make certain my risk is low. They literally have nothing to spend their money on for the next 5 years. Then the icing on the incompetence cake.....KW and RH can't figure out why they didn't get him.....they both need to STFU and be fired.
  24. If the Sox said in December that they didn't think either guy was worth 10/$300 I would have been mad but ok with it. If Harper goes to the Phillies I am fine with it as the NL got much tougher by those guys going there and the cubs have a tougher road which if the Sox are going to suck my next enjoyment in baseball is watching the cubs lose. Here is my issue... THIS FRONT OFFICE THOUGHT THEY WERE IN IT AND TOLD US THEY WERE.......AT 10/$300 THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN IT. They treated us fans like were are idiots, they were clowned into thinking they could get each player at a bargain price. Hahn and Williams suck at their job but here they are leading a rebuild. They are Gar/Pax.... I wish they would have just droped out when they knew they could not spend 10/$300
  25. So he gets fair market value from a team at the end of the day. White Sox sat in the bargain bin al lwinter. The swift kick in the ass is Tatis, Machado and the useless players that are Jon Jay and Yonder Alonso taring us in the face. What and epic fail by the Chicago White Sox.
