  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Greg I'd listen.
  2. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) 2013 Week 17 against the Packers. He had them up 28-20 in the 4th Quarter. Then it was 28-27, 4th and 8 with around 45 seconds to go, and the defense blew the game by letting Rodgers scramble (Peppers' fault) and hit a wide open Cobb for a TD (dbacks miscommunication).. He gets hit pretty hard for every failure of his, and I don't recall him pointing too many fingers at others who did the same. He underperformed, and I think he'd admit it, but he has handled himself with far more class than a lot of his teammates. It's time for him to go, but I don't think it will be as easy to replace him as some think. My issue is their inability to get any type of offfensive stability around him whatsoever. It cost two GM's their job, a head coach and then there was the debacle that was Trestman. Cutler is part to blame but an inept organization is as well.
  3. Or Turner could be moved for Sale.....
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) The History Channel app is pretty solid, as is their webpage if you have a cable or satellite system to log in with. I have uverse just need to look around.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) Can't wait. I have this on my to do list for a few years. Need to find where I can watch it over the holidays
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) I don't know if anyone has watched it on here (I don't even know what channel it is on...happened to stumble on it through prime), but the Night Manager was a fantastic six episode series. Yes it certainly was. I think I watched it becasue someone on hear recommended it.
  7. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) Not true. This is why teams don't trade within divisions often, unless the players traded are insignificant. The Cubs happen to play in the same city and both teams compete over money, attention, players, and fans. Unless the Cubs send the greatest trade back of all time it's not gonna happen. The White Sox helping the Tigers to obtain Iglessias while we watch Avi try and play baseball is reminder enough of the risk of trading within your division.
  8. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) I see a lot of talk about Carpe Diem not being tuthful because a lot of you guys are senstive over politics and don't like reality..... Well well well well well Astros about to sign ANOTHER power bat??? I WONDER WHY???? Keep doubting me though. You ever give any thought to the fact that this board has been around for 12 years and you are the 9,000+ member and have 36 post. That is where the skepticism comes from. There once was a guy that sat in Reinsdorf's office and was one of three people that saw Frank Thomas contract........ I am not saying you are a troll but you appear to becoming a little fixated on making certain you get credit for being the guy. Your information is cool but not everyone is going to buy it hook, line and sinker...welcome to life on the internet. But hey you J4L talking White Sox baseball...
  9. The thing that is really under my skin right now is that looking at the successful farm systems of the teams looking at Chris Sale, we are trading for the thing we neglect the most, international players. Hahn was supposedly the guy that got these guys signed to team friendly deals and now needs to sell these good deals for hopefully 80 cents on the dollar to rebuild. This is the time where we should be supplanting talent with the cost controlled guys not rebuilding but we do nto have the resources to do this. The White Sox need someone to run the organization properly. This is top down failure.
  10. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) A player is worth what someone is willing to pay him. Period. MLB is rolling in money, they basically are printing it hand over fist. One of the reasons the Sox are in the position they are in is because they haven't been willing to go maximum dollars for players who become available and are difference makers. I thought I read somewhere last year where the Sox are one of only three teams in MLB to have never given out a 100 million dollar deal. Instead we get the Austin Jackson's, Jeff Keppinger's and Adam LaRoche's of the world usually. Mark Instead of using the team friendly contracts to their advantage they are going to to trade at least one those good contracts away and lose any advantage they may have had. Then IF they become competitive Rodon and Anderson will leave for the greener pastures. They really are showing to be as poorly a run franchise as there is. I guess I had my head in the sand. Years of underdrafting and not using the international system to their benefit has caught up to them. Maybe they have realized it now but it appears to be too late.
  11. I think the cubs would have to overpay comparatively for Sale. The cubs rotation is getting aged and Arrieta may be traded for youth which could be spun for Sale. My guess though would be that the cubs would want Quintana, Jones, Eaton or Robertson before Sale.
  12. QUOTE (almagest @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) I don't know why you'd non-tender a guy with an .821 OPS last year for a 30 year old former-AAAA player who dominated the Korean league (which is still an unknown as far as actual talent translation), but I can say I'm glad I'm not a Brewers fan. Carter would be a good pickup for the Sox as DH while rebuilding. Hell I'd even think he's a solid addition if they decide to go for it again for some reason (please don't). They have zero chance of passing the cubs, Pirates or Cardinals any time soon and with the cubs success, although they get the 9 sell outs when they play the world series champs this year.
  13. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) I think it's the same as Tallon being kicked upstairs. They wanted to go the more analytical route and Gallant (and Tallon) are more old-school eye test guys. Ya but at least let the guy get home or at least to the next destination. Must be a deeper story than that.
  14. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Shoot. I was really hoping an international draft would get done so that teams besides the Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers, and Rangers would be able to get top Latin talent anually. Maybe they'll deepen bonus pools or increase penalties for going over international allotment. It wasn't worth a lockout, though. The saddest part to me of the White Sox current situation is that they are trading Sale now to get back players they would not sign years ago becasue they love that stupid international penalty that did not hurt any teams as far as I can tell and made the rich richer.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Everybody running to baseball-reference to see who that may be... Don't bother.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Neither team would be expected to beat ESTL. Even if it;'s deemed Intentional Grounding, the game is still over. It can end on an offensive penalty. The officials did a horrible job. I bet if Fenwick asked for a meeting immediately though they could have held up the outcome. I for one would not have sent my team out for overtime without an explanation but the coach didn't know. The judge should have told him to take the safety next time. Fenwick was more to blame than anyone there. I saw ESL against Providence and they were in my mind the best team in the state. They had talent all over the place.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) The thing is that anytime he is out, it gets worse. I am sure changing offensive coordinators annually didn't help.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Is there any reason we can't cut him, even when injured? Injury settlement usually.
  19. Prior to last year the only good football played in OPRF was when Fenwick was there.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) For anyone that isn't clear on the situation, this is what happened: Fenwick had a 10-7 with 3 seconds on their own 15. Fenwick's coach instructed his QB to take the snap and throw the ball deep down the field. Time expired and the officials called intentional grounding which is the right call. That should have been the end of the game. Fenwick goes to state. Instead, the officials gave Plainfield North an untamed time because of the penalty (that should only happen on a defensive penalty) and they kicked the game-tying FG. Then Plainfield North won in OT. Fenwick got screwed bad but I'm not sure there's anything that can be done. The IHSA doesn't overturn official decisions. Some people think that Plainfield North should forfeit or something and let Fenwick go to state. As a HS coach, I'd probably go with what the game officials said if I were on PFN staff. If I were on Fenwick though, I'd be livid. Not sure what you tell your kids on either side. The bigger thing on this is that PFN was not pressuring the QB and as such simply throwing the ball as he did is not intentional grounding. In the OSU game, the guy threw it into the stands. This QB threw the ball in the field of play and one could argue the receiver just did not run his route. This happens in games all of the time and if the QB is not under duress, it is not a call you make. That aspect is on the officials who before enforcing the penalty should have gotten together and waved off the flag. If none of the five could get it right wave it off and go home. You would think after the OSU game someone would have gotten it right. There are much better ways to kill two seconds than this and this is as much on the Fenwick coaching staff as the officials. Take four steps back and take a knee. Run out the back of the end zone. Do not take a knee on on the other downs. This does suck for Fenwick though.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 07:07 AM) I gave up on thinking he hit his ceiling years ago. Playing with a true superstar in D Wade? Who knows what that does for Jimmy. Sounds like Wade is helping Hoiberg as much if not more in bringing some continuity to the locker room.
  22. I really think the Bears need a president that knows something about football as opposed to a money guy running the organization. Pace may be a little over his skis.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) That was the other option, but I think the problem is, a lot of them are so attached to this as there home and didn't have a track record of really fleeing (they've had to sharpen up under Rick's watch, but still nothing like Rick and crew have gone through). Plus, just think about how many of them there are and how they followed the RV and were there for every move. I presume they figure if they flee, they'll be found and caught. A lot of this though is they are probably all in shock and don't necessarily know what to expect. I am really liking the fracturing of the story into four separate groups with interesting options in each. The second half of this season could be really good.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) It must be awesome to have a competent front office Missed badly on Bryant and Rodon but have some nice hits as well.
  25. This will result in more bullpen appearances. As teams will have 9 man bullpens.
