Sox @ KC Royals 4/4/24 6:40 central start
Vaughn should be sent down if possible. He's awful.
-
4/3: Sox vs. Braves @ 1:10CT
The new schedule makes it tougher to find common dates. In prior years, last night would have probably been cancelled if the team was coming back to town.
-
4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
In a vacuum the deal makes sense. The pitcher has more upside. In totality of KW/Hahn it's among the many stupid things they did.

4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Out of college was Burger much less of a prospect? They seemed to completely write him off yet hang their hat on Vaughn and Sheets as "prospects" they are so inept top to bottom.

4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Going to be shut out again.

4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Should have played at 1.

White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
This is a cheap move that helps the White Sox manage innings for the young guys. Everyone in the rotation except for Crochet can throw 90-100 pitches an outing without caring if their arm falls off. All four guys are pitching for their career. This protects the bullpen and younger arms. Maybe it results in a guy outperforming their expectations and we learned from Lance Lynn and Giolito last year, only takes one GM to buy into something. If you are signing him, why not sign Bauer? The White Sox suffer from a shitty owner in a large market that loses a competitive edge because of extra picks and now draft positions so why not thumb their nose at MLB and sign him.

Ohtani's interpreter fired for stealing money
Just a couple of issues. Othani has an accountant and business manger I assume. Maybe not. Why not have them move the money however you see fit. Especially if you are going to help a brother out. Sounds like Othani transferred the money directly....not a good idea. If this was done in the US there are several issues involving the IRS among others. If this part of a federal probe, it may not end as nicely as MLB would hope. There is a money laundering aspect to this as well. The Dodgers may be out of another long term deal.

Garrett Crochet named Opening Day starter
I don't think he throws over 170 any time soon so I was thinking 80 then 150.

Garrett Crochet named Opening Day starter
Getz seems to have a plan. Let him throw 80 or so innings by the end of July / mid-August and shut him down. Piggy back his starts with Kopech in behind him for the same thing and see if there could still be value. Hopefully the pitch count sits around 85 per start and we call it season.

I think when teams evaluated Fields in depth his stock fell. I think it proved what was seen in college.

She will be back on the SCORE shortly.

Kopech to the Bullpen
I would think he has to have some value in the clubhouse and would be a good flyer to eat innings. I think if he was total douche he wouldn't be in consideration. If Crochet is on the MLB club a 3/3 inning split with these he and Kopech makes sense. Kopech seems to have never recovered from the TJ/COVID time off.

Cease To Padres per Passan
The philosophy of this organization to me stems from Kenny Williams thinking as much as JR. He was just better at getting the Ellis Burks of the world then Hahn.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I'm just catching up on this thread but think the ability to consistently throw strikes is what makes Thorpe a prospect. He sounds like Giolito to me with less fastball speed but more consistency on throwing the change where he wants.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I wonder if teams wanted to see Cease throw this spring as to possibly avoid what happened to Gio. Cease looks good, Let's roll!

2023-24 NFL Season Thread
I am starting to think there is a sector of Bears fans that are dumber than cub fans. What exactly was Poles going to do with Fields? People want to blame Getsy (I did). He got another job. So now we look at Fields. It appears that potentially nobody wants him. If that is the case, the Bears should not want him either. tht is wht is happening. That is not Poles fault. In actuality it worked out perfectly. They get a better QB than what was out there last year. Yes Stroud appears to be better than thought but they were not taking him at #1. Maybe Poles turned down a 3rd round or even a 2, we don't know. What appears to have happened is that all of football sees that Fields is a great athlete but maybe not an NFL QB and not one they are investing heavily in.

White Sox agree to minor league deal with Brad Keller
Their minor league system needs players as well. You'd think he was signed and named opening day starter. These are the guys that pitch in AAA and come up to start when needed. These are the moves that Hahn did not make when he should have for organizational depth.

Great deal but needs to stay healthy....although you can say that about everyone in the NFL. He seemed to always have an injury going back to why they got him in the draft when they did.

Hoping Patrick was a guy Getsy hung is hat on. If not, the evaluating of interior linemen by this team is not good. Jenkins and a little bit of Davis worked but the rest wen off the rails quickly.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
The station's personalities truly believe they are the smartest people on earth. The thing lost on franchises moving and why the White Sox will not is that there is no inherent fan base. You roll into Nashville or Montreal and you have a bad team people aren't showing up. I am not certain how hockey and basketball who have expanded more recently have resulted but the popularity of baseball in the last few years continues to decline. Generational fandom is a necessity. If the White Sox go on a sustained run which isn't that difficult...say 3 divisions in 5 years and are a 85+ win team over that span they will draw 2.5+M fans a season. Regardless of where they play. Their best season in 18 years happened when fans were not allowed in. Then their play dropped off in the second year after fans were let back in. ALDS Game 3 should be a common thing and you aren't getting that in Nashville or Montreal. There is no inherent connection. Now will the owner hire the folks to do that....probably not. Nothing is happening with them until he drops dead then maybe the next owner will realize this. Chicago is the greatest sports city in the world. As a second fiddle to the cubs the White Sox if run properly can succeed better then in any other market. For Pete's sake the Blackhawks s%*# all over their fans then they became the biggest thing in hockey. The Bulls still outdraw just about any team. The Bears franchise is a disgrace but still get on prime time and are the talk of football way too often. Da 85 Bears are probably the most memorable team outside of the Jordan Bulls, Jeter Yankees and Brady Pats...and that was one season 38 years ago. As a singular team there is none that surpassed their mystique. The cubs are one of the most popular teams in baseball and they have had one run of success (albeit only 3 years) in the last 125 years. The White Sox could move and SCORE could pine for it but it's not a good business decision. The national media and folks of Chicago love their sports teams.

He is cheap and above average. He was a 5th round pick that should get better. Their issue was up the middle and communication, not around the edge.

Grifol: DeJong, Lopez, Maldonado are good on offense
Why is there any thought he will be fired during the season. He took a playoff contender and turned it into a 60 win team because he could not manage a team. He's here all year at least.
