  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) If you want me to say something positive about Robin, the White Sox haven't quit. They're not that good and they're not well prepared and their pitchers are gassed after the tough first half, but they haven't mentally checked out like the Indians or Red Sox have. They played nice a couple weeks back and as a result did not sell. They mentally checked out in April and never really appeared ready to go. This organization became relevant with a one week run. In Chicago now they are about on par with the golf tourney or NASCAR race as at as relevance.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) We talked about Jeter already...another example is Tom Brady. You don't have to stop enjoying life as a professional athlete, it comes with the money/fame/power. That said, alcohol use turning into abuse often leads to problems. Hard as it is, you have to understand the limits. Just because many things are possible to do doesn't always make them right. Then again, many athletes live on that edge of everything falling apart and enjoy the risk. It reminds me of the story of James Hunt, the British F1 driver. Seems like Gronk is the guy that has managed to live a crazy life without getting into trouble. I could be wrong.
  3. I thought Hahn deserved a shot. Kw needs to be gone as does buddy bell neither have done a positive thing in years.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) The thing with Robin is that he's done absolutely nothing in his time as Sox manager to deserve another year after this. The ideal scenario would be a Dombrowski/Bud Black combo to take over for Hahn/Ventura, but we could never get so lucky. The white sox are becoming a very stale organization. Dombrowski and black would make sense but KW is here for as long as he wants.
  5. Kind of sad that the last two Sale starts, the JS s***ty outing Sunday andthe Joe McEwing f*** up are the difference in this being a wildcard race and what we have now which is fools gold. One week ago I thought maybe if the pitching could hold up...well the pitching has s*** the bed.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Avi actually looked like a major league player that at bat. Radio guys were saying a day or so back that he looked embarrassingly bad recently and then was working with the hitting coach and it was actually working.
  7. When the Sox play the cubs in August wasn't one team going to wear banks number and the other Minnine's? Hopefully Sox change and have the pitchers wear Pierce's number.
  8. On the wings of Minnie and Billy greatness shall be achieved
  9. Sad he was not talked about more a true great.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Molina family part deux If they were all named Benji.
  11. Urias is worth it if the Dodgers think they can resign Price.
  12. He could have parted ways with Jason Donaldson DJ Lamahieu and Chris Archer like some organization did.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) The talent is there. The first guy I would talk to would be Jeff Samardjiza who played with the guy from 2010 to 2014 and see what is really going on in his head and heart. I can't see Samardjiza ever paying any attention to Starlin Castro other than to want to punch him in the face for no reason other than because. Castro was pulled from the game last night and Maddon was going on the other day about being fresh for September.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:28 AM) Puig will most definitely either be traded or not traded. Maybe
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Helps when that division is awful. and two of their starters are other wordly
  16. If Puig were traded to the White Sox, he will not hit until June due to the weather and have an OBP under .300. Then he will be out of baseball in 4 years and be the next big, where are they now candidates 15 years from. Owning a gas station in some caribbean country.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Just read this too. I thought our scenarios was the same, but I have no idea how hopeless I would be if we traded away a top 6 farm system and finished in last. What a tough spot. Wow that was quite a read. How the hell does he still have a job. Yikes.
  18. Would love to see him close the game or throw the first inning. Other than that no need for him to actually pitch.
  19. Lester's inability to hold runners cost them today as it did not allow for a tailor made double play that led to three runs.
  20. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) As much as I hate bunting, Sanchez needs to be bunting every time in that situation. Now you give Lester the chance for the quick inning. Sanchez can't bunt
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) And here we go....get someone up in the pen. Can only walk the fine line for so long I agree with what you said yesterday, a no hitter would not be that out of the question...hell neither would a perfect game...and a very real chance the Sox do not score this series. This offense is sickening.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) Exactly. Dont risk it and dont help them. Unless it is a serious overpay like the last notable Sox/Cub trade. The cubs directly helped the White Sox win the world series with a really stupid trade....have them do it again.
  23. Sad that the pitching staff has to support this horses*** offense. At least they are playing some defense to keep it interesting. Good hitting teams will beat up Hendricks. He is similar to Danks sans the contract.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Cubs have 100 more walks and 149 more Ks than the Sox this year. The philosophy is to take pitches that are pitchers pitches. The Cardinal game with Montero was a prime example. He took a pitch he could not do anything with and got the call then doubled. As the Hawkeroo has been saying for years a bad plan is better than no plan at all. I do not think the White Sox have a plan as an organization.
  25. Plate discipline that the cubs instilled as an organization from top to bottom is one thing I really give them credit for as it mirrors Boston and New York. Obviously it is not working as well as those two have in the past but it beats the hell out of the first pitch pop out or whatever failing white Sox philosophy there is.
