  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) Yeah, I agree. I think if they went on an extended period - 10 years or so - of sustained success in the form of a couple World Series and 6-8 postseason births, you'd see a shift, but people want to watch and see the Cubs. It's similar to the Yankees and Mets in New York - no matter what the Mets do, it's always going to be a Yankees town. That's a little different thanks to the overwhelming success of the Yankees franchise compared to the historic and well-documented failures of the Cubs organization, but it's a valid comparison. The opportunity to gain on the cubs was there. Not winning a post-season series after 2005 cost them that opportunity. The last two years were prime pickings for Chicago baseball and the White Sox blew it. the next two years if the cub rebuild does not take hold will be the time..... I agree with the previous posters, Ozzie is 1000% correct
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) I'm about to start catching up on HoW right now. I'm glad that somehow none of the 3 or 4 episodes I have left have not been ruined yet. I'll let you know when I finish the season. It built to the finale like Breaking Bad, the two episodes leading to he finale were awesome. The finale.....well just wait and see. My wife and I had very different opinions.
  3. Well the minion will enjoy the new list AJ Hinch Davey Martinez Manny Acta
  4. If anyone watches Hell on Wheels, did you think the finale was creepy, odd and somewhat uncomfortable. Also as SOA showed us, do not mess with the Irish Kings.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) It's a dumb comment to make when something similar can be said for every draft in the past, and every draft from now on. Anytime you can retroactively look back at the best player from a draft class, if he wasn't taken #1 overall, then there will ALWAYS be at least 1 team that "should have known". You will drive yourself crazy thinking like that. This wasn't drafting Hayden Simpson. The fact the Colts (and experts) were trying to decide between Leaf and Manning makes all hindsight draft talk pointless and stupid.
  6. I saw that and got confused where I was in the internet.
  7. I need to go look through the trade scenarios from a couple of months back and see what packages he was involved in, yeah he's pretty good.
  8. Wacha, Wacha, Wacha....that NL Central is going to have some incredible young players in it the next few years.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) Welcome aboard the bandwagon. He's a freaking disaster. Yes he really is and he was promoted to Asst head coach to come to Chicago.
  10. If Granderson could play slightly above average centerfield, he will be fine.
  11. Actually bushrod is the one not picking anything up.
  12. Cutler needs to realize they are sending three guys from that side when the TE is not there.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) I have a feeling this game against the Saints is going to suck. Forte not a good start.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) The Cards are a WAY bigger rival of the Cubs. It isn't even in the same stratosphere. That's because the Pirates built the cubs mid-2000 teams by handing them productive players. The Reds, Cards and Pirates have to be keeping Theo up at night.
  15. DirectTV called me last night and as a loyal subscriber offered me a decent discount on Showtime. We never watched it before so it really was not worth it but I appreciated the call.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=9767640 Dusty Baker...he gawn Now that is where Joe Girardi should go.....or Tony Larussa
  17. When did Rodney start throwing 100? With an 85MPH slider he is pretty damn impressive. I never knew his stuff to be that good but I may not have been paying attention. He is the epitome of an assclown and makes me root against Tampa.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) I've said this like 100 times but I love the guy but he's absolutely awful at his job at the moment. Harry Carey was awful at the end, Hawk is more of an ass now.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) It's DSL, so its limited based on many factors, one being distance from hub. What do you pay for Comcast? My wife insists we pay $25 for the home phone so we have Comcast home phone and Internet it is $91 a month. DirectTv customer service is, IMHO the best in the business. I have DirectTV, Comcast home phone and internet and AT&T cell phone.
  20. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) I missed SOA last night because 2 of my cable boxes decided to take a crap 5 minutes before the show started. The main box was making the picture on the TV huge so that it was literally cutting it off on all 4 sides. I tried adjusting the picture settings on both the TV and the box to no avail. When I unplugged it and tried to switch it with one in another room they both quit working completely. I called Comcast's completely unhelpful customer service and they are going to send a tech out tomorrow. After an hour or so I got about half my channels back on one of the boxes but it was completely random which channels I got. All the basic local channels (ABC, NBC, FOX, etc...) and a handful of cable channels. This morning when I checked it I had everything except FX. The other cable box was still DOA. So here's a nice big FU to Comcast and their s***ty equipment. SOA was solid last night probably best episode of season. Show is still pretty good.
  21. QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) It will be a mockery to the award if hawk wins it. horrible, horrible announcer. Yet somehow he has been doing it since 1975. When he was the color man alongside Don Drysdale he was fantastic. Over the years he has gotten a little rough but he is still pretty good compared to other guys.
  22. I love the NL teams. Now if the rays advance.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) The White Sox organization isn't going back to Guillen again. The one guy who would allow it to happen is 77 years old and making plans for his death. If Hahn and Guillen are on the same page, it makes sense.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 11:26 PM) A hitting coach who actually preaches OBP is fine with me. His comments when hired should have gotten him fired the next day. He was not a believer in OBP and as such they are where they are.
