  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) It's a 1 run game though. A "Closer" could still easily wind up useful. If you're going to designate a "Closer", you may as well be stubborn about it. It is a 3 run game
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Thornton is in the closer's spot now. Sure and Tuesday it will be a week since he last pitched.
  3. Ohman again? Why not Thorton? There is an off day tomorrow correct?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) That triple play changed the whole momentum of this game. Yes a team that has scored 23 runs in two days needs to be bunting in the 4th inning to get the bat into Omar Vizquel and Juan Pierre's hands to drive in the runs over Alexi. That is assine thinking every time.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) If we're ripping D1, seriously look at the actual numbers. 6 IP, 6 h, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's. If Roy Halladay put up that line, you wouldn't be sitting there saying "He's not an ace!". Not calling him an ace is not ripping him. Starters need to give you more than 6 innings. Masterson cooled down a hot hitting team today. Nobody his confusing him with Roy Halladay. Wow have these bats gone south.
  6. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) What about Danks makes you say that? Is it just the amount of money committed? Because he is a six inning pitcher. Today is the prime example of why he is not an ace. He is a really good pitcher but not worth a contract of that magnitude.
  7. He is a f***ing LOOGY that is it. Guillen is trying to make him something he is not. This is Randy Williams all over again.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Why are we bringing in our worst reliever in a one run game? Sale pitched twice already and we need the L/R match-up at cost no matter hoiw s***ty the left handed thrower is. Where are Santos and Crain......hanarahn and Marson...you gotta be f***ing kidding me.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Ohman sigh.....Will Ohman He is a loogy and can not give you a full inning if there are three lefties hitting. I see no difference with him and Randy Williams.
  10. Masterson at a whole 92 pitches with 2 outs in the 7th. This game is looking like last year without the Sunday lineup.
  11. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Because all the rain means is that Danks doesn't get to go deep into the game. They are going to get the entire game in today no matter what. THe rain will just mean an hour or two delay. This is his last inning anyway and no guarantee he has the lead when the rain comes.
  12. Rain is coming and the game is official. Why swing at the first pitch....
  13. If you are not anxious and nervous on Opening Day you are not alive.
  14. I just can not see the cubs competing with the Brewers or Reds and the Cardinals are always there.
  15. I have seen one half of Timberwolf basketball this season and all I can say is that it is easy to get 20 points and 20 rebounds when nobody on your team is looking to do anything out there except wander around aimlessly.
  16. Please do not berate me as I do not follow wrestling any longer. I took my kids to RAW last night and I gotta tell you it was a miserable experience. I have some knowledge of the wrestlers but the matches last night were s***. What is with the combined tag team matches and the tag team champion wrestling with six guys outside the ring and the six guys outside ofhe ring were better than the two guys wrestling. The commercial breaks made attending a Bears game seem fast paced. Then there was suppossed ot be a Smack Down with better wrestlers but hat was goingot happen until around 10:50 and after being there for NXT, Superstars and RAW enough was enough. The endless promo during the breaks was nauseating except for he Road Warriors getting into the Hall of Fame. Oh and my car was blocked in the parking lot.
  17. I posted this yesterday and then never came back to the thread but what happened to putting the starters out there the last week of the season to get in a groove and be ready for the season?????????? Has the Opening day lineup played in one game this spring? I understand spring means nothing to this organization but slow starts and finishes are the norm and they are doing nothing to change that. The only consistent hitters that are somewhat guaranteed for this season are Dunn and Konerko and age could get the better of both of them. This team could easily hit .180 or .300 in April.
  18. I see the everyday line-up playing the last week of spring training was a myth.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Maybe if the Mets canned Minaya long ago when he'd already proven worthless instead of letting him try to cover up terrible signing after terrible signing they wouldn't have wound up in such a mess. The teams have nothing to blame but themselves. A lot of those teams you see with issues (Mets, Dodgers, Tigers) overspent on bad rosters. The Tigers debt to equity could be that low if they financed and own the stadium. The cubs situation is interesting in that Ricketts can afford the operating loss if he wanted to.
  20. Utility guys keep guys Chris Widger from playing third base and Jermaine Dye from playing shortstop. they have value and Teahan has value. Jesus you would think the guys is making $15M a year.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Forbes has two new reports that show a problem in MLB's finances that could be a foreshadow of things to come. I wont post the whole articles, but here are the links, read for yourself. Special Report: Inside Baseball’s Debt Disaster Yankees Soar, Mets Plunge On List of Baseball’s Most Valuable Teams The complete list of team values This all comes after last year's leaked financial documents and the bankruptcy of the Texas Rangers. And remember the Rickets have a huge amount of debt after they bought the cubs. Here's the scariest paragraph: The Tigers are valued at less than $420M....wow. cubs will be in trouble if the cash flow drops. $532M...that has to be close to $30M a year in debt servicing at a minimum.
  22. The White Sox drop more easy popups than the rest ofthe MLB combined I think. Jose Valentin against the Twins, Joe Crede against the Red Sox and the 2nd baseman in Oakland game are three off the top of my head. Sure none are as bad as Luis Castillo against the Yankees but it just seems to me that every pop-up is an adventure.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Is it April 1st already, or is Soxtalk in midseason form? midseason form never ends you have been here long enough to know the storm clouds never clear out.
