  1. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) When you said that I thought they scored and made it 3-1, asshat. Me too, so it is 2-1 still and it was a 3-1 count by the Count.
  2. Just a thought not bagging here but do you think Mack could push Pods to late inning runner/platoon guy........ Mack can do as good except run and his defense is much better then Pods. Food for thought???
  3. I think Garcia has the old "dead arm" maybe from going hard at the WBC then cutting back. I think he will be fine. I also think we win this game.
  4. From the highlights that I saw, Cintron looked to have the range of Ray Durham going up the middle which is not saying much, again I only saw the highlights.
  5. Farmer is an opinion thing like Hawk. He is not great but he works. Putting him at PBP was a huge mistake. Has North spoken of this since they have gone on the air? Has he been silent on the issue? How about Mack and Harry? The SCORE is a very poorly run operation. The station in my mind is unlistenable.
  6. After this game, Aaron Boone will go 3 for his next 42.
  7. Not to get into the pissing match with the Indian fan who is doing nothing wrong, how'd we score.
  8. Thorton and Cliff were pitching after midnight in cold and rainy conditions in a 10-3 game. I assume they were probably a little tight as far as getting loose. From the 4th row behind the dugout Brandon and Thorton looked pretty damn good.
  9. Son of a b****, maybe the Women's Final Four will be on or Karate.
  10. What is keeping Brandon McCarthy from being Joe Nathan or Keith Foulke? He has more talent than both and seems to have the poise and knowledge. Both failed as starters. Brandon has had success as a starter. He needs to learn how to pitch out of the pen. Like Jenks last year, Cotts the year before that, etc.
  11. I did a Gary Ganews and speed read of your write-up and all I can say is, which teams have stronger bullpens and how much stronger are they. Would you have rather given a veteran with arm problems a few million dollars. Should we make the playoffs guess what, a pitcher that would be a #2 on any team and a #1 on over half in baseball goes to the pen, possibly two guys that would be #1's or #2's. I see your point but I am not sure anything wise could have been done. Bobby Jenks and Neil Cotts have World Series experience. I'll take them over Mike Myers, Scott Eyre and Bob Howry. Vizcaino and El Duque would be nice but Javier Vazquez is better. Our pen is being asked to be good, not awesome. Right now, I think the talent is there to be good. A healthy Hermanson would have made it pretty good. Things happen. This organization is pretty bright, I trust them.

As an established team the White Sox use spring training to audition players that may be able to help. We know what Neil Cotts, Cliff, B MAc, all 5 starters etc. can do, as well as the other 15 players that were guaranteed positions. Ozzie Guillen uses the spring to see what the organization has as a whole that they can tap into sooner (Logan/Ozuna) or later (Jenks). Guillen and the organization have a better gauge on the talent of the organization because they get such a long and realistic look by the big league team. This is what spring training for the WHite Sox is all about.
  13. QUOTE(endymion853 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Just received my copy today! Watching Game 3 as we speak. I am no DVD expert, but I am dissapointed in that it doesn't appear to be widescreen. Well it is Widescreen, but it doesn't take up the full screen like most of the widescreen movies. Other than that, it's pretty much a lost weekend! Endymion Movies are shot for moviescreens not televisions. These games were shot for television not moviescreens........
  14. I can think of $95M reasons why bandwagon jumpers are great. Let me introduce you to Javier Vazquez, Jim Thome and Alex Cintron. The difference between this year and last is that many people will go to more games rather than less. More games attended = greater atttendance.
  15. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) One listen to the radio pieces here and you'll realize how much Rooney will be missed. However, I can't believe how people are sounding off on Singleton already. This is the guy's first job in broadcasting; filling three hours is quite difficult for Hawk at times, it was difficult for Rooney, and it has to be even more difficult for a novice. I'll give Singleton to the All-Star break. It's only fair. I would have loved to hear what ya'll had to say about DJ when he first got in the booth. The reason to sound off is because this is the third largest radio market in the country and WSCR goes out to 38 states, if I recall correctly. Singleton is about 33 and has never done radio. Give him a shot at doing AAA or AA games not working MLB. Let him learn the trade, don't just hand it to him....unless he comes cheap. Sad Rooney is gone but mike North and Mike Murphy are still employed by that half assed station.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) He must be really bad. I haven't heard anyone say anything good about him. Luckily I don't listen to the Sox on the radio, but he seems to be one of those boring guys. He's nice, but nice doesn't mean you should have the job. The sad thing is that you can tell he has never done it before. Too much dead air and lengthy pauses. The article is right on. I would use the radio to run to and listen while doing other things. Now I am not sure I can listen. I'll watch the game and put off those things to later. Even worse, I may pass on listening to the game and knowing what is happening. It is that bad. If the games have no meaning, there will be no audience.
  17. Today was the first I got to hear singleton. It was painful to listen to him to PBP. Sounded like a high school broadcast. I turned it off rather than listen. This is disgusting. I really hate the SCORE.
  18. Think Nardi Contrearas got into this guys head?????? Maybe a Cooper foot in the ass and Ozzie confidence will work wonders. I see him coming in Opening Day will bags loaded and one out in the 8th to face Hafner.
  19. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Joe just adds more versatility than Gload in that he can pinch run and steal a base, has an arm to play all 3 OF better, and the constant HR threat. I dont even know why its an issue. Gload is better/proven insurance policy if Thome or Konerko go down. That is about it. Huge issue staring KW and Ozzie in the face between the two.
  20. Is Borchard playing any centerfield? He would have the best arm of any outfielder and I thought he was at least average out there. He would make for a nice platoon if nothing else with Anderson. Borchard in the 8th hole I could deal with. If Borchard makes the team Dye could again play first if needed making Gload expendable.
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Because I derive none of my self worth from how a bunch of millionaires perform in a silly tournament. Because the rest of America will forget about this by tomorrow. Japan, Korea, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic are going crazy right now, and they'll still be talking about it a year from now. Because I don't believe in false nationalism. Rooting for your country in a sporting event from the comfort of your living room doesn't make you a patriot. Because they put together an pathetic all-star team. Matt f***ing Holliday? Al Lieter? Vernon Wells? Letting Griffey play CF when he's the worst defensive CFer in the game. Because they named Buck Martinez the manager. Buck Martinez is an idiot. Because a loss by the Americans will help with the long term sucess of the WBC Because a loss by the Americans will help them put a less pathetic team on the field in 3 years. Because a loss by the Americans means I get to see more of the Japanese players, specifically Daisuke Matsuzaka, who should start the semi-final game. Nishhioka looks like a pretty good player too. He could be posted in a couple of years. If not, he'll still be in the MLB at age 30 after his contract expires. Thank you for posting my thoughts. The USA could have put a better team together of players that didn't go. The championship game was handed to them. It is sad the Venezual (sp?) and Pueto Rico are eliminated. One name, Al Leiter. I do feel bad for the guys that went but the taste of how this thing was handed to the US, I can not handle.
  22. Ah, the AWA at Comiskey Park..............now there is a promo for mullet night. No flashy s*** that I see now. I want a 400lb. slob from Stone Mountain Georgia manged by one of the Ligue's against the American Dream Dusty Rhodes managed by that other fool.... Hopefully Laz Diaz will be working and he can be special guest referee. Begin with a moment of silence for Chicago's own Roadwarrior Hawk. I miss the AWA and NWA.
  23. I like the fact a teammate was mouthing off so he kicked his ass. I guess there really isn't a-lot of mouthing off to Booby Jenks any more.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) You are thinking about Barry Jones. Bob James was a closer from 85-87. The guy sweat more than any human I have ever seen. Sorry it's early.
  25. Compare Bob James to Politte not Jenks. Bob James was a one hit wonder and a junk baller set-up man to Thigpen. He did help in getting Raines. Health and head are the only things keeping Jenks from being among the all-time greats, talent is off the charts. The guy performed as a rookie on the biggest stage and won. Except for the Ortiz bomb most hits were dinks and misplays by the defense. As he matures and gains more faith in his curve and slider and god forbid finds a change-up he will be unhittable. He has 4 major league pitchers. 90% of all relievers have one and most starters have two. The real good ones have three and location. He can be wild but I think this will settle down with experience. The head........well so far so good.
