  1. I think your second line is the key - the Dem Party of 2018 (and really for the last decade +) blames white males for problems more than they promise to protect/benefit them.
  2. I still think you're mistaking SUPPORTING those views versus simply not prioritizing them compared to other issues. A number of women and minorities did vote for the guy, so clearly not ALL of them voted for him while also supporting white male dominance policies. I'm exposed to a lot of blue collar Trump supporters as part of my job. A lot of union guys, guys that work on nukes, guys that work for public utilities. Inevitably politics come up and i'd say a good majority of them are Trump supporters for two simple reasons - (1) they've bought into the nonsense that he's changing Washington and (2) they think he (and Republicans generally) do better to protect/increase their income. They all feel Dems are way too concerned with social issues that they're never personally exposed to. Rights of the LGBT, illegal immigrants, etc. Those issues just aren't as important to them.
  3. So that's awesome.... https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2018/04/30/paroled-mass-murderer-moves-near-school-in-lagrange-prompting-alert/ A convicted mass murderer of 5 people (including a 16 year old girl) was just paroled and decided to move to a house located directly across the street from my kid's elementary school. Like literally a straight line from the front door of the school and across the street, that's where he lives. 1) how the hell is a killer of 5 people in cold blood granted parole? 2) how the hell is it legal for him to live less than 100 feet away from a school?
  4. Does anyone on here watch The Simpsons anymore? I honestly don't know anyone my age (35) that has watched a full episode in the last 15+ years. All of my friends seem to have had the same experience as me - watched it up through season 10 or 11 (or in that range), then stopped cold turkey and haven't picked it up since. Kind of amazing that it keeps chugging along.
  5. Surprised at this result: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-millennials/exclusive-democrats-lose-ground-with-millennials-reuters-ipsos-poll-idUSKBN1I10YH Would have thought those numbers would have gone up, not down by 9%. Proving yet again that Americans, including young Americans, care about their pocket books more than social issues.
  6. lol, touche! I always thought it was through underlings, not the actual leaders.
  7. These are such wild images: https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/27/asia/key-moments-korean-summit-intl/index.html Never thought I'd see the NK leader go into SK (willingly). If there is a peace accord struck, I can't believe after 60+ years of trying, Donald Fucking Trump is the US President to do it. I'm also surprised at the relatively quiet coverage of this. Has anyone read anything about WHY this is happening all of a sudden? Was it the Olympic games? What made NK change so drastically? Is this all just a ruse?
  8. True, though a lot of these guys (the highly rated guys) are recruiting other kids to Illinois. Tough to see them make big sales pitches and then bail. But it's college football so it's absolutely possible.
  9. I'm heading to Seattle for a wedding in July. Anyone have recommendations on things to do? I think we're going to go for 4-5 days, so we'll have a couple of days before and after the wedding to bum around. I think we're going to try and drive out to Mt. Rainier, there are some wineries that we like that are based there....and then I guess the touristy stuff downtown? Maybe catch a ferry and check out the sights of Puget Sound too.
  10. The key there is that from the moment you start a new game to the moment you beat the game, it's one continuous shot (unless you die or hit pause of course). That really adds to the "oh I can just play 5 more minutes and do this next thing!" feel. I'm only a few hours in but it's everything I wanted it to be. Awesome world, great combat, easy controls, lots of upgrading/customizing weapons and armor. Good stuff all around.
  11. I think Lovie bought himself another few seasons with this class. Not that he wasn't going to get a few years, but I think there's a legitimate path forward now with some very skilled guys at key positions and a few more out there that are still in play. There's light at the end of the tunnel.
  12. ah, my bad. I just knew it was bad and people were questioning if he'd ever get back to his level of play this year.
  13. They should absolutely inquire about the likes of Lebron and Kawhi, but I don't think either are realistic, nor would I leverage the future for a 1-2 year run. Boogie has a bum knee now, so who knows if he'll be back at the same level. George isn't a top level type of player, so does it make sense to invest a bunch into someone that only makes you marginally better? And this is all ignoring the fact that Chicago is not a place FA's want to come to. Unfortunately I think the only viable road forward for the Bulls is another tank season and hope you get a great player this year in the draft.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:53 PM) Lmao that the framers were dumb enough give the president absolute powers of pardon It was a check on Congress who could pass unfair/dangerous laws and the judiciary that had to enforce those laws. But when it's used to pardon friends, yes, it's an abusive/dangerous power.
  15. Thought this was kind of funny: https://uproxx.com/hitfix/westworld-season-...video-rickroll/ Long story short: the creators of Westworld are big Reddit fans/users. They posted yesterday a message that said they were going to provide a video detailing everything that happens in season 2 in order to avoid all of the theorizing and unintended revealing of spoilers that comes out of online group discussions of the show. They posted the video this morning and it's a very clever rick roll. My wife and I started a rewatch this week to prepare. Forgot how much I liked this show.
  16. The Jimmy Kimmel/Sean Hannity feud is kind of hilarious.
  17. Whelp, those storylines about the vets competing sure ended quickly. Both Phil and Tiger 10 back already.
  18. The last 6-7 holes are where you can score. If Spieth can get back to an even round I think he's still in a good place.
  19. I put some money on Speith, DJ, Rose and then Kuchar and Stenson as long shots.
  20. I was rooting for Michigan but Nova is just too good. Thanks again John Groce for screwing up the Brunson recruitment.
  21. Thanks God this atrocious season is over. I hope there are 3-4 new starters next year. Clean house.
  22. I think they should keep the system as is, but add a rule that you can't pick in the lottery more than 2 years in a row. So you get two chances, then you're bumped down to #15.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 07:15 PM) The Warriors did not tank. Klay, Durant (FA), and Draymond had nothing to do with tanking. Even Steph wasn't that high of a pick. OKC was rebuilt...not sure if they tanked, they happened to just be bad and capitalized on their picks during a window of bad. Tanking and being bad/rebuilding are two very different things to me. A 7th (Steph), 6th (Udoh, a bust), Klay (11th) and Harrison Barnes (6th) helped them. They obviously lucked into Draymond, made good moves grabbing Livingston and Iguodala, and then signed KD after they were already great. Whether they tanked or not, my point was that being bad for consecutive years is a path to being good again. What doesn't' work is when you're in NBA hell like Memphis, Indiana, Washington, etc. Teams that have one or two good players but no great players and you just continue to draft in the 20's. Sure, you sell tickets but you're never going to be a legit threat to compete. I guess I don't see much difference between tanking and being bad and rebuilding. Tanking is a smart part of rebuilding. Like I said before, there's nothing to gain from being a good, bad team. You want to be a horrible team so you get the best possible prospect moving forward. So long as a franchise does it openly, so long as it's not for an extended period of time and so long as there's a clear plan in place, I think it's a perfectly acceptable practice.
  24. Are you worried about rich people losing money? Who cares what the attendance is.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 04:17 PM) Not necesarily Bulls specific, but more general. Once people stop showing up, the party is over. Possibly, but I don't think it'll get to that point. I think the average NBA fan, the ones that would actually buy a ticket, understand what the teams are trying to do. There's nothing to gain from being a good, bad team. And so long as the franchise has a direction, it should be allowed. The White Sox are a perfect example. We all begged them to tank and rebuild for years. And now instead of heading in the same direction with little to no hope for the future, there's some exciting light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone fan I know was fine sucking last year and will be fine when they suck this year. We know the plan and see the potential future. I think fan reaction is the same in the NBA.
