  1. did S.I. just figure out that there will likely be a fire sale?
  2. I want to see Eggy pitch... what is that sinker really like? I'm not saying I want him called up, but I want to be able to see him pitch.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) This is the guy I'm most excited about from our draft. I hope he signs ASAP. agreed.
  4. nice.... so far, I've been pleasantly surprised by him.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) If I'm the GM, I'm keeping Danks, Konerko, Garland, Fields, Jenks, Thome, and Pierzynski...and Boone Logan. The only way you get those guys is by making a ridiculous offers that absolutely blow me away. Everyone else can go. If I'm the GM, I'm keeping Garland, Danks, Konerko, Fields, Logan, and Thome for sure. Jenks only if we don't get a good offer and Pierzynski only if we don't get a top ML reacy C prospect.
  6. Contreras Buehrle Iguchi Anderson Aardsma Dye Pods
  7. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) KW can't rebuild. It isn't in him. He will retool and he will do it well. He's resourceful and aggressive. He'll pull a rabbit out of the hat. He will not rebuild. He'd trade Jenks only if it made the team better next year. Salty > AJP
  8. If Buehrle rumors come true and my wish... Sweeney, Ellsbury, Gomez
  9. I personally want Gomez, but I don't know if the Mets are willing to give him up. He is ML ready, has a canon and is very good defensively in the OF and would replace Dye, and has power potential. He still needs to work on his BB-K ratio though.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) I think it depends on what is on Kenny's mind. Still, I see no reason to move him now. I think he's the type of person you hold on...if the rebuild goes longer than expected you can always move him later on down the road imo. Plus I'm not a fan of giving up good young players when you are in a rebuilding mode (unless you get a completely ridiculous offer). Say the Braves offer up Devine, Salty and Escobar (again I said this is a completely ridiculous offer, but if they came up with it I'd than say alright we've been wowed, you now have Jenks). Salty for Jenks straight up. I'd do the trade in a heartbeat. The question is would the Braves do that trade? They have Soriano and Gonzalez who could be their future closers...
  11. So, I assume the Yanks would stick Dye at 1B then. I'm not to familiar with Joba and Kennedy. I know Joba has a good fastball. Are they better suited for the pen or rotation, etc?
  12. He should be. His value right now is sky high, and I don't think he will be a dominate force in this league, as his constant velocity drops worry me. I don't think Jenks can be very effective in this league unless he throws 96+, and he has been barely hitting 94-95 this season. Right now, he is relying on hitting his spots, but if he misses his spots, he will get hit hard. I wonder if the Braves would be interested in giving up Salty for Jenks.
  13. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) I am not sure that we do this straight up for one minor leaguer. But if it is an A level prospect and a C level prospect or player to be named later, I still might do cartwheels. If we got Martinez or Gomez offered straight up for Contreras, we should accept it while we're still ahead. We'd probably have to throw in some cash, like 3 million for 08 and 09, but that would save us 14 million all together. I really don't think we could get much more then an A prospect for Contreras. In fact, we'd be lucky to get that much. If the Mets offered a B prospect and would be willing to take on his whole contract, I'd do that as well.
  14. Lets see here. The Mets have a pretty good rotation now. But I don't think you could count on Duque holding up for the whole season. Also, I don't think they can count on Sosa for the rest of the season either, he seems like a better fit for the pen/spot starter. Perez, I like him a lot but he is streaky. Glavine right now in his career is mediocre but has that experience. Maine is young as well. So yeah, they could really use another experienced starter in there. With Pedro returning soon, that should help, but you can't expect him to be lights out or even stay healthy though. Best option for the Mets, IMO, would be to put Sosa in the pen, plug Contreras into the rotation, and when Pedro returns you put Duque in the pen as well.
  15. Contreras and and cash considerations for either Martinez or Gomez... get it done KW!
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) The Red Sox don't NEED Buehrle though. I have doubts that they fit us. I told my friend who loves the Red Sox, "Last year they tried to get Buehrle for Coco Crisp and we said 'Get the f*** out of here' and that was that. I don't know how much Boston REALLY wants him." I'm sure they'll take him if they can get him but I don't think they're going to give up much. And we shouldn't take little for Mark Buehrle. Oh, the Red Sox need Buehrle. They are 1 pitcher away from being a world series contender and going far into the playoffs, IMO.

  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Buerhle Iguchi Pedroia Pena #2 or #3 best BoSox SP prospect Am I the only one who thinks that'd be a horses*** trade? If you change Pena to Ellsbury, and #2 or #3 prospect to Bowden, that'd be a pretty good trade. Pedroia is that young 2B/SS we've been looking for. In fact, I think Pedroia is better suited for SS.
  19. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) He has big time strike out potential in my opinion. The guy looks lost out there. I'd rather have a man at 3rd than some child who looks like a fool against major league pitching more than half the time. We must not be watching the same games then. Cause to me, he looks like a rookie.
  20. The thing I want Fields to do more then anything else is hit the ball to all direction. I don't think he has hit one ball to RF. Also, he needs to be able to catch up to the major league fastball, he swings through them way too often. Overall, I really like what I have seen from him, and he has some big time power potential, IMO.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) and Bonderman thank you for reminding me...
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Not a Sox signing, but did I hear that right? Porcello signed with Detroit? probably... him, Verlander, and Miller will own us for a while...
  23. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Well, Hansen has had some pretty awful numbers, but from what I have read, he has a good mid 90's to upper 90's fastball and a hard slider, but with a lack of confidence and control, he has sucked for the previous 2 seasons. Seems like an Aardsma part 2.... Coop can fix him! talking to some red sox fans, it seems that Hansen lost all ability to throw his slider, and has no secondary stuff. His fastball is very live though, hard w/ movement.
  24. Are there any for next season? Looking around, there are no free agents or prospects that would really be an upgrade over Uribe. Are there any good SS prospects that are MLB ready but being blocked by someone on the ML level, meaning that they could be had for via a trade?
