QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) Are you familiar with the Raelians? Or do you know your way around the black market? Because we need to figure out a way to clone JPN and put versions of him at Charlotte, W-S, Kanny, Great Falls, Bristol, and in the DSL. Either that or we need to get some Sox scouts to start anonymously posting here somehow. Either that, or futuresox becomes a million dollar scouting agency, and we hire people to scout all of our minor league affiliates..... Even the DSL!

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) Yes, he has a nice fastball that gets up to 97. I think he throws a power curve and maybe a splitter or sinker to go along with that. Big strong kid, could be a sleeper. wow, that's great to hear.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) It looks like it's about time to promote Justin Greene. I am kind of curious though why he only has 14 SB this year when BA rated him the speediest guy in the organization going into this season. There's 7 CS with that, so does that maybe indicate situational running where the odds are more against him, or is that a sign he's not the best base stealer? Because if he's not the best base stealer he should be working on it, but maybe the numbers are down because he's got the technique pretty much down and the Sox just want him to concentrate on hitting. Anyone know? I'm gonna assume he doesn't have good technique, but I'm just guessing. Maybe have him spend some time with Scotty Pods next ST. (Scotty is destined to become a base stealing coach in the future).

Henry Mabee has been really good in his professional career. Can you tell us anything about him regarding his arsenal of pitches, velocity, and his demeanor on the mound?
-
One guy who has gone unnoticed but has been mostly money out of the pen (struggled a little when he got promoted to WS last year) since we drafted him is Henry Mabee. Anyone know much about his stuff? JPN, you see him pitch yet?
-
Real good with the glove, not so much with the bat. I wouldn't be oppossed to signing him to a minor league contract.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) I know somebody of the same exact name...scary. Battaglia is more common of a name then you would think.

I still think we could have come up with a package of prospects better than just Matt Joyce for Edwin Jackson.

I just don't believe there is any way to really determine if a player has been lucky or not unless you've seen them play a lot.

One thing I forgot to mention, I like Cole's new approach at bat. I only saw 1 AB and he already looked like a better hitter now than he looked like in ST. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 07:15 AM) So you are saying Eric Young would make a good announcer if he was not Eric Young No, I'm saying Eric Young would make a good announcer if he talked more like Orson Wells instead of Eric Young. -

I think Eric Young would make a good announcer if he had a better voice and didn't laugh after everything that was said. I liked the other announcer they had as well, I forget his name. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Well, Cole Armstrong grounded out to second, but to be fair, that lefty on the mound had to seem like he was pitching from first base. That lefty was an ex-White Sox farmhand, IIRC. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) I fail to see why everyone sees an issue with how many lefties in a row we have in the rotation. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe someone can explain, because right now, I could care less. I DO care that Richard is still in there, though. I just don't see much from him that I like right now. Its near time to give Poreda or Torres a shot. The thing about having 3 lefties in a row, it makes it very tough on you if you face a team that mashes left handed pitching. I just don't see how it makes sense to have the 3 lefties in a row when you can throw a righty in there and make teams at least adjust.

I already sent the questions in before I saw your post KHP... but a few of yours are asked, and a couple others I wouldn't have sent cause they might not be the most professional, especially about the one about when someone takes a dump on the bus Oh, by the way, on facebook, he already stated that he enjoys watching the cubs lose.

As far as non-white sox prospects go, I really liked Bud Norris. I think he'll eventually have to move to the pen due to some command issues and I'm not sure if he has a change, or at least a good one. However, he's got a really good power fastball-slider combo, and EY was saying he's a fiery guy and a competitor. -

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) He always pitches from the stretch by the way, never from a wind up. I didn't notice that, probably because the first batter got a hit. Interesting. EY did say Torres started out as a relief pitcher. Hmm. I wonder what the White Sox see Torres' future as... -

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) The Barons are the only pro team here. Now, the season tickets for Alabama/Auburn football dwarfs the Barons. In fact, that's the only thing most people care about down here. Nick Saban can't fart without it being on the front page of newspaper. You guys wanna hear something that'll blow your minds? They're building a dome stadium/multi-purpose facility with tax dollars, without any major tenants to generate revenue. The Barons aren't moving, there's an abundance of parking at Regions Park, whereas there would be a parking nightmare in downtown Birmingham. We have a 10% sales tax in B'ham and get this...we already have a dome stadium/multi-purpose facility that is empty most of the year and doesn't generate hardly any revenue. Nobody wants to go to downtown B'ham, and that is why the suburbs and metro areas have grown so much the past 25 years. Google "Larry Langford," it'll make your head spin what you read about him. Just for fun, check out "Richard Scrushy" and the "Birmingham City Council." I assume high school football is really big down there as well, correct? -

Torres looked real good out there. Quite a pleasant surprise, I was preparing myself for another soft tossing pitcher, but that was not the case. Eric Young said he talking to someone with the White Sox Organization and they said his best pitch was the cutter. Got some good pop on his fastball and a nice tight breaking pitch. Also, EY said that he was a great competitor, pitched with no fear, and has a lot of confidence. He's now a legit prospect in my book. The one negative I'd say is that he doesn't have all that great of a frame. He looks really skinny. However, at the very least, I think he could be a solid bullpen arm. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Hudson pitched today, or Hudson's considered old? I'm considering Hudson and all other pitchers out of college "old." I was talking about Griffith as the other young pitcher. I probably should have phrased it better, but couldn't think of a good way to do so.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) OT:God damn Willie is back posting again. W00T! I think we can agree that he has the most badass sig here.

Good work guys. After the top 5-10, it really gets tough. A lot of the spots are interchangeable, especially after Mitchell.
-
I like it. Our top two young pitchers having/had good games today. Can't wait to see how they progress into next year, which will hopefully be both's first full professional seasons.
