Mexican government = hypocrites.
QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) haha so now you think the laws of the nation should be respected? changed your mind, huh. And I think our laws should benefit us, which would be a controlled immigration policy.

Interesting Snopes story
QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) These images support our cause of going after nutjobs like this. That's why it wasn't news here. How does the media decide this? Is there some super secret meeting, maybe a secret internet? How are all media companies represented? Do they elect leaders to decide what to cover? I wonder if they have decided who their cadidates will be in 2008. It must be so powerful that even Fox and the WSJ won't blow the cover on it. This would be our nations best kept secret.

Daley allegedly staffed Skyway to avoid his own delays
Damn right Daley should make a stink if he sees something wrong in the city. And damn right city workers who know his travel habits will work to make certain he doesn't see anything out of place. Just like almost every company out there. Move along, no story here . . .

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Well that's what is so damn frustrating. To be so good on defense yet so bad on offense. All glove and no bat. Could we DH for him and let the pitchers bat?

Pierzynski-Barrett brawl....with legos
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) To be honest, there was no Sox fan doing anything nearly this funny or creative until the Palehose Six emerged from the briney fogs. I still think she is hilarious dispite the fact she hates the Sox. In a twisted sort of way, I think it makes it funnier, because she actually does enough homework to understand Sox fans. Not much different than SNL's parodies of Bears fans.

Interesting Snopes story
500 wackos stage a protest in London. Doesn't seem like something that would get worldwide coverage. Imagine of 500 wackos could get that kind of publicity for their cause. I don't know at what point something should receive worldwide attention, but that just doesn't seem like it.

Paulsen, Pay Cut
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) I was employed for a company that was bought by GMSA and was promised that no layoffs would occur. I was in the unemployment line in 3 months, and within a year 29 of the 30 people in our office were gone. Were you all replaced by illegals

Pierzynski-Barrett brawl....with legos
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ May 30, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) ^^^^^ What a stupid b**** with no life. The only thing that would make her blog better was to be a Sox fan. I find her to be funny and usually original.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
When we had the best record in the AL, I thought we could continue the BA experiment. But now that we have the second best record in the AL, we need a major house cleaning and get some guys in who can play both ways. BA = Crede 2004

Mexican government = hypocrites.
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:31 AM) Of course. That must be it. I'm guessing you have an alternate theory, please share? I think you are angling different than what I was thinking. Are you talking about entitled to free speech, warrents before search and seizure, police protection, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, perhaps an education, a better life for your children, a free press, an honest government, the right to guns, etc? Perhaps entitled to not starve on the streets, to have some help with room and board? One thing I remember from a long time ago, we could have an America that the least amongst us pay for. Poor roads, fewer police, intermittent water, missing road signs, etc. Or we could live in the America that some cannot contribute their full share. Somewhere down the line, we chose an America that the poorest could not afford. If we divided up equally the cost of running our government, the poorest couldn't afford it and the wealthiest would have even greater wealth. So do you want to live in a Five Star Country, or what the poor could provide?

Condolences to Kalapse
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) She was at peace with her impendig death right up through her final days which did help ease the pain of losing her and I do feel a whole hell of a lot better than I did yesterday. Also, I do feel I am back to my same smartass self so that's a positive. I remember when my own grandma passed away a couple years ago from pancreatic cancer. I flew up to be with her for a week and when I walked in I told her, "Damn grandma, you really got yourself in a jam this time" My aunts were aghast. Later my grandma told me that only my cousin and I seemed to realize that she was dying. Everyone else was in denial. She was at peace with dying, she too lived a long life. I hope when it's my time I will have that same peace. Ultimately we are judged by the things that cannot be taken away. It sounds like she has a great family and y'all have great memories, that is a wonderful life.

Clemens Good For Baseball
Is Clemens sitting out then playing the back end of the season good for baseball? Will other players just play the last four months? I don't like the trend, although I am a big Rocket fan and the Astros are my #2 team.

Bush, Where does he go from here?
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Maybe he buys the Cubs? I dunno how else he could become more hated... I think hate is too strong a word, but maybe I am insulated here. I almost feel sorry for him. What a terrible time to be President. One natural and/or man made disaster after another. What could he be looking forward to? Actually, I do feel sorry for him.

Bush, Where does he go from here?
I am thinking about Dubya and if he's having any fun and what could his crusade be. It's about the time he thinks about his legacy, dynasty building, making a lasting impact, and instead I see a man who can not be having fun. His terms will be run against a time line of death and misery, not all of his making. Tsunamis, terrorists, hurricanes, war, a festering immigration problem suddenly rears its head. So where does he go from here? A shake up in the cabinet may be a temporary boost for him, but he can't be having any fun. No more flights onto a carrier. I still believe he is a good man. I think he's just running out this term without something to really ignite him. Are we still looking for Bin Laden? Maybe catching him would be something. I'm at a lost here. I think both parties are also drifting, waiting for the next big election.

Slanted reporting on gun stories
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 30, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) Having a belief is one thing. Being an active participant in trying to change a law or policy to one side or the other is different. Gun owners don't always agree with the NRA, just as non-gun owners don't always agree with the Brady group. But put the director of the NRA reporting on gun control laws, of course it will be slanted towards his views, just as this guys are slanted against. it is not all or nothing, Tex. I am not saying all or nothing. I don't agree with some of the NRAs position. To me a well armed militia is not my hunting rifles, at least not in today's world. And I am not an originalist with the Constitution. What I am saying if I write a gun article, people should know this is one liberal that also loves my weapons, and believes I should be allowed to own a gun, not because of the Constitution, but because I can be responsible. So if I wrote that piece, some of y'all would claim I'm just a liberal and don't like guns, like all liberals. That would be a wrong. So when I say a gun in the home with children for protection is a bad idea, it is from a guy who owns guns and isn't anti-gun. BTW, my reasoning is, with limited time to react during a home invasion, you would need the weapon in an easy to reach location, loaded, and without a safety. The exact opposite of what you would want with children around. So I sleep better knowing my kids would not accidentaly shoot themselves or anyone else.
